@ScottSerious marijuana help emphysema patients breath better cause smoking it is not the only way to assume it. You can extract thc from the flowers and leaves of marijuana and create pills for example. For paraplagic and quadriplegic i don`t know how can help, maybe is cause marijuana relax your nerves and muscles.

"I am Pro-Marijuana but I`m not sure if I`d trust this, I`d just like to see the sources."

Marijuana is scheduled as a schedule one drug, it is very difficult to get legal permission to even test its medical potential in the United States. In fact I have read that the U.S. government paid for many studies to prove the very harmful effects of marijuana and ended up trying to destroy the findings of the studies because of the beneficial nature of the drug.

Yeah, it`s totally ridiculous. Cocaine is a schedule two drug, meaning that, according to the government, it`s less dangerous than schedule one drugs, like marijuana. But the government also says that marijuana is a gateway drug to things like cocaine. So, marijuana leads to "harder" drugs but is more dangerous than some of the drugs it leads to? Good use of logic, government.

Ok people.. You know why it won`t be legalized.. I`ll tell you. Cause if It did, a lot of people who work in the paper industry, timber, and everything else would be out of a job, cause its cheaper. Plus...

Heres the kicker. There are currently 14 states in the US that it is legal to sell marijuana in a dispensary. To do that, you have to have state license. If the US Government decides to do this.. Which they won`t.. It`ll make it federal, so you`ll have to go get a Federal License, which I assure you, will not be cheap. Which, out in the streets, will lower the price of Marijuana.

Now this is another kicker. Once gang bangers and drug cartels notice that their profits are dropping. They`ll switch to another drug, or make marijuana even cheaper!

Now once this is done, the government, while losing profit off of this, will make it illegal for anyone without a license to sell or grow marijuana. Its a slippery slope.

So pretty much, its never gonna

I don`t really see the big deal about making it legal. Even though it`s illegal, it`s easy to get. If you`re not stupid you wont get caught with it. Don`t carry it around with you or carry only a very small amount and only smoke at home or a friend`s house. I agree that it should be legal since it`s actually less harmful than alcohol, but meh.. Just find a decent dealer and don`t be an idiot and get caught. Remember, it`s not illegal to be high. It`s just illegal to HAVE it. So just take the necessary precautions so you don`t get caught having it.

Cannabis is harmless when its used occasionally, the only problem with legalising it is that lots and lots and lots of people won`t just use it occasionally. Most of the benefits listed here are either stretching the truth as far as possible or are just bare faced lies, thats why there are no sources to back the claims up.

Legalize drugs when Welfare is ended and cops can drag your ass off the street and "move" to a less visible location. If you want to get high and never contribute to society fine, but do not ask me to pay for it. For those of you that can just do it occasionally. great the above should not be a problem for you.

    Sorry, I`m not buyin` it.

For once, I`m in agreement with CrakrJak. It`s misleading at best.

It`s also ignoring the fact that marijuana is usually smoked, which is obviously bad for you.

THC isn`t that bad as recreational drugs go and does have some medicinal use (it`s proven as a painkiller), but claiming it`s some sort of magic potion of ultra healing is just propaganda.

" If you want to get high and never contribute to society fine, but do not ask me to pay for it."

Unlike the effects of alcohol on a person, right?

"It`s also ignoring the fact that marijuana is usually smoked, which is obviously bad for you. "

If inhaling smoke is bad for you, then I would expect to see more problems from incense. Smoking tobacco is bad for your health because of the carcinogens and other toxins in the tobacco, not because of the intake method.

I could go on, but least to say, don`t knock things you don`t understand. At least take the time to review the (credible) information out there. Then compare that information to that of the legal drugs and take your stand.

@dstbstr, smoking is bad for you in general, I`m not saying only pot or only cigarettes, but smoking at all. The heated air causes a lot more damage to your esophagus and lungs than you might think. It`s basically causing small blisters. Smoking with a filter helps some, but people smoking pot through a pipe don`t have a filter that is cooling the smoke at all.

Alleviates alcohol withdrawals? It kills them, totally. I quit drinking couple of weeks ago, drank for a half a decade, later times almost a crate of beer daily. I tried quitting a couple of times before but always the same thing; first tremors, then anxiety which transforms to these white-hot rages. I always started drinking again when I started to see stuff at the edges of my vision and getting these horrid waking dreams.. But add ganja, I`ve eaten like obelix, slept like a cat and haven`t actually even had any desire to drink.. Legalization would be one of the best things that could happen to alcoholics..

It`s impossible for a human to ingest enough marijuana to receive a lethal dose. A lethal dose is something like 40,000 times what it takes to get you high. You wouldn`t be able to smoke it (or eat or however you want to ingest it) fast enough to keep up with the rate at which your body processes it.

We get it; you hate marijuana. But maybe you should calm down and do some research.

First speaking of nimrods. Check your grammar.
Second you may have heard some about taxing such would eliminate deficits. However the argument is not to rid but help create income to pay off some of the debt. Third tons of evidence on why it is a natural non-altered drug to relieve pain. Fourth when you have someone you love who cannot tolerate any opiate based drugs for pain while dying of cancer.

I think it should be legal, but I doubt it ever will be, and I don`t think taxing it is as easy as people want to believe... Why not? We tax alcohol and tobacco right? Well think about it... If you want to brew your own beer, there`s a pretty big startup cost to buy all the equipment and whatnot. If you want to grow your own tobacco you need a lot of land and people to work it. If you want to grow your own marijuana, all you really need is a closet and a lamp. Everyone would buy enough of the legal pot to snag a few seeds, and then just grow their own, and we`d never get any tax money from them again. That`s the real reason it`s illegal :P

You are a perfect example of talking crap for the sake of advocacy. Quite apart from the fact that marijuana also contains toxins, smoking anything is bad for you. And no, people do not smoke incense. Nobody will believe you when you say that it happens.

It`s counter-productive. People with any sense read that sort of drivel and it puts them off the whole idea of legalising cannabis. Is that what you intend to do?

Then compare that information to that of the legal drugs and take your stand.

I`ve already done so, thank you. Unlike you, I`ve read what`s actually there and not just silly advocacy propaganda. As a result, I`ve come to the conclusion that I`ve already stated:

THC isn`t that bad as recreational drugs go and does have some medicinal use (it`s proven as a painkiller), but claiming it`s some sort of magic potion of ultra healing is just propaganda.

My stand is that smoking it should remain illegal but other forms of taking the drug should be considered for legalisation. Considered, taking into account the issue of dosage. It has been engineered for a far higher dosage and any trials done on much lower dosages are not necessarily relevant to higher doses.

But don`t let reality get in the way of your advocacy. Why not claim that it reverses climate change too?

I remember tobacco being a "miracle drug" too, a while ago. Just saying.

As was cocaine and heroin. In fact, heroin was deliberately made as a "miracle drug".

Legalize it, if you are clearly driving high you get arrested like driving high, that puts drug dealers at a disadvantage because they sell it for less, and fine the drug dealers if caught and that helps keep more money from being wasted in prison system by removing druggies out of there and just the dangerous criminals in

Some of that is true, most is just pro-marijuana propaganda. But i`ll say this, when I had a migraine a few days ago and I couldn`t keep the promethazine (anti-nausea)pills down due to the pain. Marijuana was the only thing that allowed the nausea and pain to subside enough just so that I could take my medication and keep them down. I could care less about "legalization" b/c in my state it pretty much is legal, for me at least.

I smoke lots, yet I don`t really care if it is legalized or not. I will smoke either way.

Also, a lot of these "facts" are blown way out of proportion. I do love being high, but I have no illusions about it being good for me. While I`m sure there are beneficial health benefits from THC, I also know I`m smoking it, which is bad for you no matter WHAT you are smoking.

I don`t give a crap about what other people think. I SMOKE WEED. Do you think AngryAsian bothers me with his ridiculously misinformed slander? No.

If you don`t smoke pot, that`s cool! If you do, that`s cool too! Just do what you want maynge.

    Also, @Angilion
"As was cocaine and heroin. In fact, heroin was deliberately made as a "miracle drug"

I believe that is just what Spysnake was trying to say. Pro-marijuana individuals are saying that bud is the wonder tonic as cocaine and tobacco have been in the past, he`s trying to connect marijuana with other synthesized drugs implying that they could be just as harmful. (yes the tobacco is natural but the tar, nicotine, and dozen other chemicals aren`t)

If it has no harmful side effects (which I doubt synthesize does) and works as a good pain killer. Then I`m cool with it.

Smoke causes damage to the lungs, lack of oxygen from inhaling smoke damages the brain. Doesn`t matter what kind of smoke, it`s all bad for you. Weed is the only way I can eat, I should use a vaporizer but I don`t.

@ThatWasFunny- that`s true of anything. And I think the word "habit forming" is more applicable to marijuana. Technically, yes, a person can become addicted to anything that they find pleasurable. But, the word addiction tends to carry the connotation of physical dependence, and marijuana does not promote physical dependence. I had to quit smoking weed for nursing school, and it was as easy as simply stopping, despite having pothead roommates. No withdrawal, no cravings.

Look up "cancer killing properties of cannabinoids".

and back in the day they said hemp was a miracle drug... 200 years later they still say it >.> I would rather take a drop of hemp oil thats just the broken down plant oil nothing else to help with pain and such, then a semi-synthetic opioid pill.

I wish the cannabis supporters (myself included) would put forward the actual reasons they think it should be legalised i.e. 1. We like to smoke it, 2. We believe we have the right to put whatever we want in our bodies.

Yes, it could help the ill, but this is what 95% of the pro-cannabis campaign boils down to.

I smoke weed, but let`s clear up some of this stuff. It contains carcinogens, it`s a bronchconstrictor, the `antibacterial` part isn`t even a sentence, how does it `help` paraplegics? I`ll stop there, but make a better argument. Oh, yeah. Vaporizers bypassing the carcinogen is still up in the air.
