Man, that sucks! I feel really bad for their families. Why couldn`t it be a Blink 182 concert?

The next day comments on their website: "Thanks for the tickets, the concert was a crushing success."

"Awesome, it was a blast"

"Couldn`t believe how close we got to the stage!"

I know their investigating whether it could have been prevented. I`m pretty sure it could have. They shut down the fair today. I can`t imagine anyone is going to want to go for a while.

All blame goes to the fair. upon reviewing the weather reports, there was no reason to have the show. I could go on and on,but that is where the blame lays.I hope they can live with themselves. Actually, I hope they can`t.

You and a couple of other douchebags feel the same way. My favorite part of this thread is realizing how lucky the rest of us are to not get butt-raped by our own Fathers and end up like P.O.S. like y`all.

You can see by the sky that the fair was a stupid idea. But I feel sorry for whoever lost someone close to him.

The thing that made this worse was the extremely fast switch between happiness and horror.

Great. We got Zachary Briggs (the guy begging for someone to pay him to lose his 20-odd year old virginity on camera with a porn star) and now this, on I-A-B. . At least in Oregon all we had was the Crazy conspiracy-guy RV. =\

There was a huge storm going on when that happened plus its the main stage where the famous acts were playing of course they were going to build it as well as they could.

Perhaps he meant it in the best possible terms. If people are going to die like this then lets just hope the ones who were sacrificed were idiots...

1. The wind gusts were freakish in nature, up to 70mph according to some estimates. Gusts like that are extremely rare when you aren`t in the middle of a storm. The stage was actually about as soundly constructed as a portable stage can be. They just didn`t expect such an insane gust, which you can tell came out of nowhere from the sudden dust cloud in the video.

2. The announcer issued a pre-storm warning with instructions. Yes, he should have told everyone to move away from the stage to be safe, and they will in the future. To his credit, it all happened very very quickly.

3. How are the people idiots? They were attending a concert and expected the professionally built gantry to hold together. If a bridge collapses on the highway while you`re driving on it, does that make you a moron? The only sign that the stage was about to go was a split second before it collapsed when the tarp on top blew off. At that point, people were running as fast as they could to get a

For those of you who have NEVER been outside during a storm with wind gusts that equal a small tornado, you have no clue what can happen. I have seen straight line winds during a storm take out trees. This was a horrible event and yes that stage may have been a "light weight" "poorly constructed" stage but can you really tell me they expected winds gust that looked to be around 65 to 70 mph? really love that those who make the most comments are those from Europe...so how are those riots going????

A little update i found, the stage really was poorly designed and managed. Cutting corners is not a good thing when peoples lives are on the line..

"Does there have to be fault?
Just a series of unfortunate events."

Uhh, there are no "unfortunate events". It was either the crews fault that set it up and made a mistake, the engineers fault that neglected the strength of the wind in his calculations, or the fault of the producer that used bad materials.

Or which unfortunate events could led to this without any human interaction?

why does everyone feel the need to scream for no reason?

Whoah, that was bad.. I`ve build a lot of these size stages, this was very unfortunate. The fault point is probably in the far left front (support for line array), second link from the top.. The tipping point is when roof cover is ripped off but by the looks of it, it would`ve come down anyway. These sudden storms are the abosulte worst conditions, good strong wind can generate tens of tons of lift in right conditions. With gusts there can be simultaneously lift in one corner and donwforce on another. The structures are temporary, they will hold vertical loads very well but are weak on horizontal.. There`s only one way to stop this from happening: every concert/event will double or triple the ticket prize, every event construction will take three times as long, require at least double the workforce etc... Hurricaneproof stagebuilding would be very expensive and tineconsuming (picture two-three weeks of construction time, 4 to 5 times more material...)
