"They aren`t even in dollars. It`s in pounds and apparently they don`t ship to the U.S. "

that`s because he`s just won his court case against George Lucas here in the UK that ruled that he could sell them here as George Lucas didn`t own the copyright to them, he did as the original film prop creator.

George Lucas won the case in the US so he`s not allowed to sell them there.

This guy is crazy, I wouldn`t be near that stuff without respiratory equipment. He`s there shaking around glass fibers and grinding that stuff. Stupid.

*sigh* it`s a movie costume... you make them light and cheap. why would you use real speakers or have them wired when no one seeing the film would be able to tell.
one does not go in for needless frippery and expence in making costumes, props and gaffs for theatre and film. hence a thin plastic helmet held together with the quickest most inexpensive (and easily replaceable) fasteners.

and unwired speakers.

It doesn`t look all that great from the finished product, but at least he can say he made it which would be pretty cool to know you made it yourself than just buying it.

thats quite a pooty product for as much effort he put in it and the expensiveness of the tools he used

the helmet is <1/4 inch thick flimsy plastic held together with gold brads (not even white pop-rivets)

and why wouldn`t you spend a little extra and make those voice speakers actually wired?

For as long as I can remember, my hands shake. I have poor penmanship, I can`t draw, and I can`t do precise work. No way I could ever do that.

He did a great job though. Not a big fan of the thin plastic he used, prefer to have it be a thick, hard plastic but that`s me.

20 bucks well spent.

Obviously not a DIY at home kind of thing... unless you have all the tools, materials, and are good at sculpting. Video itself was pretty dull though.
