No matter how anyone feels about this guy, one thing he said is stone-cold fact: our politicians are bought. We NEED men and women running this country with a real passion for its survival, not just a quick buck.

I loved this man`s passion and his ferocious desire for REAL change. If we don`t make radical changes, what we know and love as the United States could be falling on its twilight hours.

Term after term after term we keep dealing with the same things being promised change. We tried republican, we tried democrat not lets try someone who says **** the parties and just does the smart thing that`s right for the country as opposed to personal opinion.

"It`s the republicans that need to get their heads knocked together"

As someone who has no problem getting his shoes dirty on Republican ass, this is incorrect.

Many people assume I think the democrats are right because I spend most of my time arguing against Republicans.

The Republicans are a party of failed ideas. Ideas that are currently in place. Tax cuts were tried. They didn`t work.
Tax cuts are being tried now. They`re still not working.
The Republican plan, if elected, are tax cuts. The ones in place now. They just want them to be permanent.

Obama however, agreed to them just the same.

You should check out this to get an idea of what exactly is wrong at the moment with Obama.

Even if you don`t agree with this guy`s ideas to actually do the fixing, he`s right about two things:

One, change is going to have to happen. Big, real change, and we`ll all probably have to make a load of sacrifices. Two, the first step to accomplishing such change is admitting as a nation that it needs to take place.

Baalthazaq: Republicans are not just about tax cuts. Republicans want to see government living within it`s means, a balanced budget, limited government, and more.

The Bush tax cuts did work, revenue increased for 3 straight years after they were instituted.

The reason they aren`t working now, people are sitting on their money and not investing, they are scared to loose even more money with a double-dip recession.

Obama has not lead, at anytime, on the issues of the economy and employment. His approval rate is a mere 40%, because people are finally realizing he`s not a leader.

Sadly, congress will not fix this. YOUR GOVERNMENT WILL NOT FIX THIS. It is the right of the people to take it upon themselves. The only way to take out their source of funding is to us to personally STOP FUNDING THEM. People don`t want to stop buying their homes. People don`t want to keep their cash hidden in a pillow/ shoebox under their bed. People want to keep investing in jaded stocks. They feed off of our needs and our own personal greed. It`s going to take these luxuries being taken from under your feet for you to actually stand up. But I am just one person, talking out my ass with things like `boycott the election system.`

we need a president that is willing to be a one term president and make the changes Dylan is talking about.

We also need the American people to START PAYING ATTENTION to what is going on here and abandon their political parties.

there are no dems and repubs, there are only politicians that are owned by the same corporations pretending to be on different sides.

WAKE UP AMERICA. we have allowed them to seel our jobs and future to overseas countries, and we are allowing them to take any chance we have of fixing it away.

when we will stand up and say ENOUGH?

Cartunze: The Bush tax cuts took effect in 2003, from 2004 till 2007 income tax revenue grew. CBO Graph Here

Then the housing crash occurred, even so 2009 income revenues where still above those of 2003.

The Wall Street Journal stated that taxes paid by millionaire households more than doubled from $136 billion in 2003 to $274 billion in 2006.

I`d say that`s clear evidence that they `worked`, despite the disinformation the democrats have spewed out about them.

@CrakrJak while the graph and the numbers may be true. Is their actual evidence that the two are linked. There will be many many other factors that attributed to that rise. By the fact it fell again, despite the cuts still being their, using the info you provided it shows that the other factors played a much bigger role in that rise that the cuts did.

Political parties exist primarily to pit people against each other, working as a catalyst for political involvement. Hell, that`s why competition in business is so effective - a market fueled by nothing but cooperation would stagnate. Growth and new development would occur much more slowly because there would be little threat to businesses involved if they didn`t strive to evolve. That being said, there is still a crucial element of cooperation, such as the sharing of ideas that better technology and people as a whole. The same is true in politics. It`s fine to stick with one of the two choices and defend it when it comes to everyday life scenarios, but it is ridiculous to sit around and bicker like children about the past. "Well with MY side, we were better!", "NO! We are still dealing with YOUR side`s sh*tty choices!". Point is, the time has come to cooperate. My friends, the proverbial sh*t is about to hit the fan, and we will need to clean it up together.

@madest: Then my stance on many things must completely blow your mind - I talk about science all the time. I love science. It`s fascinating how the world and the universe and all the other worlds and particles work, and how species continue to mutate to adapt to their surroundings and their environment.

Wait.. was that... evolution? no way.

But guess what.... i still believe that there`s more to this universe and all of it`s stars and worlds and massive complexity than randomness.... and an inexplicably exploding mass that went bang for no reason.

    @madest:

Also - there`s no reason that - assuming that the big bang actually _is_ the "beginning" of the universe - that it wasn`t caused by an individual entity.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters."

well, now, that equates quite nicely to the concept that first - there was nothing - and then, there was something - which is the exact concept for the big bang.

Keep in mind - I have no desire to get into a ridiculous argument over this. But at least try to be respectful of other people`s beliefs - statements like "invisible man in the sky" show that you could care less about respecting other people. No one is attacking you right now - it`s better to be courteous.

    --------------
Likewise there`s no reason to believe that it was created by an entity (unless you were Christian then your book assumes that said entity was in human form since you were of course made in his image).

This is true - you`re right - I have no way to prove that with any sort of definitive finality to you - it`s something that one has to decide for oneself.

However, the key here is that you are attacking people - unprovoked - for their beliefs, insulting them, and grouping them all into one stereotype - that Christians can`t accept science - in this particular case, which is why I brought it up in the first place.

Not all of us are blind to the reality that the world (and the universe) is what it is. But at the same time - you`ve had a rather pointed and unpleasant attitude with the whole conversation - personal attacks, belittling comments, and general ridicule, whereas I, admittedly unlike many of the others that call themselves Christian, have refrained from such behaviours.

Keep in mind - at this point this is no longer directed only at you.

I say again - I love what science finds and creates. But I have my own beliefs that fit over that, and I find that God can still exist with a scientific mindset. If you have a problem with that - then I`m sorry, but I would appreciate as little banality as possible.

Yes - some - not all Christians "wear their religion on their sleeves" and force it down the throats of others. They ridicule, they insult, the harass, and they act like children. I`m not defending those actions. But then you have those that do not behave as such - those that actually treat others with respect and dignity regardless of their beliefs - and believe that actions speak louder than words.

What I don`t understand is the vehemence with which atheists/non-theists attach Christians. If you are so against the beliefs of others - why would you stoop to the level of those fundamentalists that you so emphatically disagree with? Why is it so important to insult others that do not believe what you believe?

What good comes of telling someone that what they believe is <stupid, insane, foolish, etc>? How does this help anyone?

And with that, I will finally end this diatribe - with this final word:

People on all sides claim that it`s is best to live and let be - to let others do as they wish - yet no one seems to actually do that.

If you want to bring someone to your way of thinking, it`s best to do that with your actions, not with insulting them.

Madest, you are a prick. You are judgmental, and damning of everyone who does not believe as you believe. You are representative of all that is wrong with the world. Please leave this place, and save the oxygen for those of us that actually like one another.

Say what you want, but damn. Your last few posts have had nothing to do with the topic, and more to do with damning Christians.

Newsflash. Most of us believe in evolution, and the big bang, and *GASP* SCIENCE! We aren`t stupid, we just believe differently. Sorry that makes you so angry and judgmental. You stand up so hard against racism, but act the exact same as a racist when it comes to religious beliefs. Such a hypocrite.

Clearly there is no such thing as having a reasonable conversation with you. I`ve been almost completely amiable here and yet you continue to put forth insults.

Why would I ever pray that you be struck down? To do so would be to go against everything that Christianity teaches.

I`m sorry you feel this way, and I know that - for now at least - you are not one with whom I should expect to be able to carry out intelligent, meaningful, civilized conversation - which is a pity, because you seem like you would be a rather intelligent and interesting person with whom to have a civilized conversation in any other situation.

hah - the thought of that danger had crossed my mind - but I haven`t done anything to warrant such actions - and I like to think that IAB is less like North Korea and more like Switzerland.

I notice now that your account is showing as closed when i click on your name. I`m sorry that my conversation with Madest has possibly caused this - that was not my intent, and I would hope that fancy et. al. will undo that action.

I would hope that everyone can engage in conversation on this site - free to express their beliefs, without ridicule, so long as they do so in a civilized manner. And they shouldn`t be able to hide behind the threat of the ban hammer to do otherwise.

Again - apologies for causing such a mess over this.

When someone is banned multiple times their account is shown as closed. There is apparently glitch in the matrix but AJ has received at 2 bans. One for racist content the other for porn. So you two "Christians" enjoy yourselves, you are indeed two peas in a pod.

@madest: all assumptions aside - and I`m not going to judge anyone, nor do i know history of them - but have I exhibited either of those qualities?

    No?

right - so... on that note... be careful of how you stereotype, ok?

    a) No one`s perfect
    b) Past transgressions should have no bearing on your opinion of someone - not everything stays the same
    c) and those things - whether they be true or not - should have nothing to do with your opinion of me. I don`t take every other atheist into account when I discuss this with you.

Good to know that you judge everyone the same.

Madest did it. He made a comment that was completely unnecessary and unrelated to the situation - namely to the tune of "Christians can`t comprehend science" and I decided - probably foolishly - to try and have a discussion with him regarding the inaccuracy of that statement.

Sort of like the beep system -- one for yes, two for no.
Congress makes the decisions and the people either vote for yes or no. We can`t make our own decisions, congress does. Joe Nobody can have the economic crisis all solved... but he isn`t in the government, so he can`t change it. He must go to congress follow the whole process.

    ---------------
Yes. Ironic that the Pope can modify the "word of God". Where in the bible is he given that power? Oh yeah there`s no mention of a titular head of the church in that book. So in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence and international acceptance of a "theory" the Pope steps in and makes it acceptable for his flock to disregard thousands of years of lies and denial of scientific evidence? Hmmm. Certainly evolution is more provable than the Big Bang. Where is the church`s acceptance of that?

madest: Oh yeah there`s no mention of a titular head of the church in that book.

Matthew 16:18 - And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it,

I`m no Catholic, but I`m pretty sure the Catholic church sees that verse as their mandate from Jesus himself.

However Jesus himself is referred to as `the rock`, elsewhere in the bible, and in the earlier context of what Jesus was discussing, That Peter believed Jesus was God, Matthew 16:13-17 that Jesus was talking about himself being `the rock`, not Peter personally.

Besides that, Peter started many churches in his lifetime and the Roman Catholic church was really built, by others, after his death. So the claim of Catholicism being the `one and only official church` is rather spurious.

I`m not privy to the Catholic church`s answer to the theory of evolution, but I`d guess they believe the Genesis st

I`d guess they believe the Genesis story of creation, that God made man in his own image from the clay of the earth, breathed life into it and named him Adam.

As for what the Pope says about it, that doesn`t concern me as I`m not Catholic. Jesus may have said that Peter would hold the keys to the gates of heaven, but that doesn`t mean the human picked successors of his would hold that same power.

Yeah, Republicans want to burn down the government by taking us back to the spending levels we had in...2008.

Do you realize how stupid what you`re saying is? I`m sure you don`t. Dylan Ratigan certainly doesn`t, and by the looks of all the idiotic cheering of his nonsense in the comments section, I`d say the worst thing possible would be if "the people" had more say in government. "The people" are worse than the politicians.
