That isn`t true any more. There`s a minimum bike weight in competition and nowadays you can easily buy a bike of that weight off the shelf for less than ridiculous amounts of money. In fact, you can buy the very same bikes they use. There is a lot of money put into bike design at the high end, but it`s not about weight any more. Bike makers could easily go well under the weight limit. It`s more about efficiency of movement. Aerodynamics, friction, riding position, stiffness...it`s mainly about translating rider effort into movement as efficiently as possible while maintaining at least a tolerable level of rider comfort.

These guys spend rediculous amounts of money making sure that all the parts of their bikes are featherlight to shave fractions of a second off of their time, not to mention the physical exertion and training and knobheads getting in their face are slowing them down.

I don`t even care enough to Google it. What I do want to know is who is the mystery fist at the bottom left corner of the photo? That man/woman can really keep their form.

If you bothered to watch the TDF you`d see quite a few of them among many many other things

This was why i always rode my bicycle with a club strapped to it; there were all these idiots that let their dogs roam free and would chase us all day in the street. Dog stays out of the street, great. Dog gets in the street to chase me, goodnight Gracie.

It serves the guy right, he was pretending to try and take Contador`s heart beat as the guy was attacking the lead. The guy was near the top of a bastard steep mountainside that most keen amateurs would think twice about going up. I`d have thrown a punch too.

I´ve always thought that right behind the last group of riders, there should be cars full of 6´3" 250 pound guys. They would be there, for the sole purpose of, giving them feckers a proper beating. You do this in the first few stages of a grand tour, and word would get around....
The fans are always complete d*cks, running along right next to the riders and just generally crowding them. I don`t blame anyone for lashing out
Me neither. If you`ve dedicated years of your life to training up to the level required for the top event in your sport and you`re knocking your guts out for weeks competing in it, some arsehole getting in your way is a serious issue and it`s understandable if you get them out of the way.

It used to be worse. In the early days of the Tour, there were cases of fans poisoning riders, sabotaging the road, all sorts of things.
