Angilion. It`s about exploring something. You seem to think there is no potential in touch screen for games - which has all the characteristics of the cave analogy. Heaven forbid you might have missed something.

You`ve missed reading my posts before replying to them, which is rather a lot to miss.

Here, I`ll quote the key bits so you can have another go:
Using a form of technology that`s inferior solely because it`s newer than the stuff it`s inferior to is not flying to Andromeda, leaving the cave or even progress.

Touchscreens are better for some things, but not for all things.

Touchscreens are usually not the best form of input. They certainly have their uses, but gaming isn`t one of them. They don`t have the accuracy or speed. They`re fine for some simple games and this is, as SlothofDoom said, a simple game.
That really looks uncomfortable for gaming. The huge multi touch screen is impressive but thats about it, a game like this is not really the best application for it

The point is that this particular application of touchscreen technology is not an improvement on ANYTHING, but is instead several dozen steps backwards. Not even talking about zomg there`s no story or zomg the framerate. Touchscreens are an intuitive interface that is helpful for SOME applications, but not all, and trying to golden-hammer touchscreens into being everything for everyone is counterproductive. There are a dozen games -just like that- I could play on my computer right now with a keyboard and mouse- using a touchscreen would not improve that experience at all.
Honestly I would have been more impressed with an interactive whiteboard type of thing.

I don`t see any connection between my statement and your interpretation of it.

It`s more like not moving into a cave when there are already better places to live.

Using a form of technology that`s inferior solely because it`s newer than the stuff it`s inferior to is not flying to Andromeda, leaving the cave or even progress.

Touchscreens are better for some things, but not for all things. It`s simply not true to say they are much better for all things.

Laggy. also there are plenty of flash games exactly the same just without a touch screen. Weak sauce.

The game play looks a lot like Empire at War. I mean the only new thing was the touchscreen part and the graphics might be better (can`t really tell). I wonder if it will have the option of zooming in/out and a full 3D view of the ships like Empire at War.

Looks like a modded version of Sins of a Solar Empire. Also, meh, making it a giant screen and adding touch doesn`t interest me any. When I was younger I would of loved it, now I can get by with an average monitor and mouse/keyboard.

I am still thinking Home World kicks its butt, space stragedy needs a 3D enviroment to work in. One which you can zoom and travel through. That just came across as another 2d strategy platform.

Everyone saying that it looks clunky and silly.

Go play pong, or one even old atari games.
Clunky controls, no story.. yadda yadda.

With your way of thinking back then, we`d never be where we are today.

Yes the demo there leaves alot to be imagined and you can see the problems with the controls, but you can build forward from it by making refinements to said system.

Not by saying, I`m happy with what I`ve got.

I don`t know about the lack of input on a touch screen, look at Sony`s Vita. I think it`s kinda awesome. Just wasted on a star wars game. >_<; *sighs*

Progress is made in steps.

Unless you`re thinking with portals.

i like it, it`s combination of the old school board games with that of a video games. And since it`s from EVL, it is a test of possibilities. The input devises of a keyboard and mouse, will be going the way of the dodo bird as the technology catches up to human movement and behaviors. This just a peek at what is yet to come.

I wonder why they chose a setting which is clearly made for 3-Dimensional gaming (space) and projected it on a 2-dimensional platform to present their technology. Seems liek a bad idea to me, but maybe it`s just a gimmick anyway.

On a different note, I can totally see me playing Strategy games on like a drawing board sized touchscreen once they improve the dilation and accuracy, and got a handling with touchscreen controls and menues. Sadly, it will never happen.

I agree.

Touchscreens are usually not the best form of input. They certainly have their uses, but gaming isn`t one of them. They don`t have the accuracy or speed. They`re fine for some simple games and this is, as SlothofDoom said, a simple game. Ironically, one of their biggest drawbacks is the lack of tactile feedback. Anyone who`s typed on a touchscreen and on a real keyboard realises that. Touchscreen control is indeed cumbersome.

The only impressive thing about this is the size of the display.

It`s a generic RTS with a Star Wars theme and touch screen controls.

And a big ass screen that should be broken down into much smaller screens for individuals, so that it would be less of a cluster-f*ck during huge battles.

It may be the future, but it needs a LOT of work before I`ll play it.

Yeah, if the future is a pooty iphonified version of EAW with cumbersome controls played on huge touchscreens, no thanks, I prefer the present.

In fact, there`s nothing interesting about that -at all- except the fact it`s on huge touchscreens, which doesn`t even add to the experience.
