white guy here BUUUUTTT....

only reason that word has a negative racial connotation is because the blacks LET it have a negative connotation. Blacks and other non-whites have been trying to "make fun" and insult whites using words like "cracker" and "gringo," etc, for a while, but we don`t give a F**K; therefore it has no connotation. If blacks quit caring about that word, it`ll lose all meaning. Get on it!

@ Samsquanch...Acadians were forced on boats and put out to sea, some of those boats went to Louisiana as it was French territory at the time,Some went to Louisbourg( Cape Breton Island) as it was a French Fort, Some even ran off into the woods and ended up in what is now New Brunswick and slowly made there way to quebec...
All because they wouldn`t pledge allegiance to now one but God.

Samsquanch
"There are three main races of humans: Caucasoid, Negroid, and Mongoloid."
You forgot `RETOIDS`.
A subspecies that usually goes into either politics or preaching.

Angilion: I see your point, it is all BS. But we still see Caucasian on forms. Personally I`m a mutt so I guess I shouldn`t care. For some reason the word African American has always bugged me when describing a race. The whole combination of two continents thing just sounds so silly to me.

Angilion: You are correct, and I wish they would remove all racial questions from federal, and state paperwork. What your `race` is is irrelevant if we are to have a color-blind society.

There are three main races of humans: Caucasoid, Negroid, and Mongoloid.

My ancestor was brought over to New France as an indentured servant of the governor. On the other side of the family, we were Acadians who were evicted from Acadia and forced to live in Louisiana.
Isn`t Negro just the proper word for a black person, like Caucasian is the proper term for a white person.
I think you can`t meaningfully talk about proper words for such an inaccurate concept.

`Negro` means `black`. That`s wrong on two major counts. Firstly, defining a person solely by the colour of their skin is silly. Secondly, the large majority of the people it`s used for don`t have black skin.

`Caucasian` means `from the Caucasus`, a region straddling the border between Europe and Asia. Which obviously isn`t true for the large majority of people sometimes even less accurately called `white`.

Since it`s all bollocks, I think the idea of proper words for it just doesn`t apply.
gook, spic, gator-bait, sandfrican-american, darky, chink, zipperhead, colored, moon cricket, Tennessee tree ornament, antique farm equipment, honky, etc. only the word N1663R will get you labeled as a racist. cute, I-A-B mods (fancy?).
Nah, it`s not that. I know it sounds like a lame excuse, but the I-A-B censor code was handed down to us from the days of Buddy, many moons ago. Believe us, if we mods had our way, there`d be no censorship at all - hell, even I get bored with f*cking having to type f*cking f*ck every time I want to say f*ck.

What happened to "Negro"?
The earliest known case of Political Correctness that`s what. Even though it`s technically correct, as is caucasian for whites, blacks didn`t like it. They preferred to be called Afro-Americans. How many hear are old enough to remember Afro-americans? haha!

Then Afro got changed to African and here we are.

But to be politically correct, I refer to myself as mixed race.
My mother is caucasion but my daddy is white.
there`s a HUGE differance. ;)

You know what really puzzles me is what happened to the word NEGRO? I remember when I was a kid we used to see commercials for The United Negro College Fund, and forms used to have a box for Negro, just like they have one for Caucasian. But today this word has almost vanished from use. Isn`t Negro just the proper word for a black person, like Caucasian is the proper term for a white person.

This is probably the worst place to pose this question but if anyone knows why this is please tell me.

It`s pretty funny but I don`t see it as doing anything to make the word less racially charged. It would have been much more interesting to see a white man give the same speech in front of a class full of black students.

Funny how all of the terms you mentioned aren`t censored but if you type `ni gg er` it is replaced with `I am a racist". Fancy is a piece of poo.

wow, lots of 1998 references. must be an old video.
however, this uncle tom-ass bitch (auntie tomasina?) is trying to make it so whites can say I am a racist! and feel ok with it?
I`ve been doing that since pre-98
Spike lee giving Tarantino crap due to his use of the word I am a racist!? (oh and remember the title of his "non racist film" WHITE MEN CAN`T JUMP?)

i see the word "I am a racist!" as hateful. reserve it for appropriate instances.

and remember blacks, only us whites can call each other "cracker"

The moral of today`s story: Its okay to say nigger when you have to, as long as it`s in a non-offensive manner and towards someone who is comfortable with the word.

I need to use the phrase I am a racist! in a wood pile more often now. Might come in handy with all the male pole smokers and female carpet munchers around.

And yet, i-a-b still censors out the n-word. Watch. I`ll type it in a new paragraph.

I am a racist!.

See?

One minor quibble...this could be taken as implying that `niggardly` is connected with the word that IAB`s moronic censorship policy won`t allow in any context. It has no connection at all. It even comes from a different language (Norse rather than Latin).

Is she a student? One of her opening remarks about people in the audience thinking how they can compete with her implies that. If so, she deserves top marks for this speech because this is outstanding oratory. She could go far in either stand-up comedy or politics. Her comment about the Scrabble association is one of the funniest things I`ve heard for a while.

@CrakrJak I watched it, both parts, personally I have no problem using the so called `n-word` and it is just semantics.... I do not own slaves, have never mistreated a black person and words only have the power to hurt if we allow them to do so... sides, I`m Hispanic...

In part 2 she says, "...don`t get mad stay calm, when you stay calm you take away all the power they thought they had over you..."

That can be applied to many other insults as well.

I found her speech to be a very smart and witty, wish that everyone could watch this, both parts.

I still won`t use it, there is no need to use `racially charged` words.
