Oak Park, Michigan Woman Faces 93-Days in Jail

Submitted by: fancylad 6 years ago in

But for what, I-A-B? Selling drugs? Killing her daughter? Sex with horses? Nope, something much more sinister.

Why is the only one opposing neighbor an annoying fat lady? What is sad is that there are a lot of cities in MI that give you BS over stupid things. You would have thought the woman was growing weed in her yard with how the govn`t is reacting.

See 5Cats? This is where we agree.

And all of you that blindly listen to the government without question, you are a poison to our freedom. If you think the "great" U.S. of A. is immune to a tyrannical government, you better get your poo straightened out fast.

Stupid laws should always, ALWAYS be contested. Don`t give those with power a single inch without reason.

"This is a republican state."

What? Are you crazy?

The last time Michigan voted Republican was Bush I in 1988. It`s one of the most Democratic states there is, and this is exactly the kind of crap Democrats want...let the government run every aspect of your life.

Seriously, do you know anything about politics at all, or are you just ignorant like every other Democrat?

What if she wants to grow veggies in the front so her kids can play in the back and be safer then in the front yard.(away from cars, pedo`s, etc)

Only problem I can see growing veggies in the front is someone might snag a tomato or something without her knowing.

City code is city code. More than one city is doing things like this to keep a uniform front.

Mind you, this is pretty exaggerated though, to be quite honest.

Because d*cks need to slapped once awhile by a woman. Therefore she is doing the d*cks a favor.

I have a garden in my front yard.. I spend so much on my stupid lawn and it does not give me anything in return.. My garden has already provided me and my family with dinner. I keep it clean and neat. I don`t think some people understand how hard it is getting to feed our kids. I put a sign out by my garden that says "Victory Garden" maybe this lady should too because then the city comes off as being unpatriotic.

The Mirriam-Webster`s dictionary definition of "suitable":
2 a : adapted to a use or purpose (suitable for kitchen use)
b : satisfying propriety : proper (suitable dress)
c : able, qualified (a suitable candidate for the job)

Well, a garden certainly meets that criteria.

The Merriam Webster Dictionary definition of "suitable" is

Definition of SUITABLE
1 [OBSOLETE] : similar, matching
2a : adapted to a use or purpose <suitable for kitchen use>
b : satisfying propriety : proper <suitable dress>
c : able, qualified <a suitable candidate for the job>

So, that ass-napkin is using an OBSOLETE definition as his interpretation of the law. Good luck with that, dickhead!

The law isn`t even that clear. The city is being absurd, and I have a feeling she`s going to win her case. The people who say she should be forced to get rid of her vegetable garden needs to really sit down and take a good hard look at their lives.

To the "the law is the law even if it`s stupid" people:
Really? The laws aren`t handed down by god, they`re made by imperfect people. I`m all for doing what`s right, but what`s right isn`t always law, and law isn`t always right.
As an extremest version of this, it was against the law to have black people treated equally, does that mean it was wrong to do so? I`m not saying her pepper plants are the same, I`m saying the law isn`t always right. And sometimes you need to fight that law, especially if it`s just used to bully people who haven`t done anything wrong.
She`s teaching children about agriculture for crying out loud. Also, behbeh jalapeno = cute, and I don`t even like jalapenos.

Wait in line for three hours and talk with the city`s Secretary of Useless Parking Rules only to pay another fine. Want to walk outside in pajama pants and a robe to pick up the morning newspaper? GO TO JAIL. It`s bullsh*t, plain and simple.

Frankly I find a fruit bearing plant to be suitable material. The garden is well within the law stated on paper and she should counter with harassment.

Yeah, she needs to go to jail for desecrating her yard like that. Vegetables are not suitable. Only freaks eat vegetables. Normal people eat McDonalds and Taco Bell. Send her away for life, that will teach people to try to take care of themselves. It teaches the kids a good lesson too.

Have no sympathy for her. Why? Because they warned her beforehand and gave her a ticket. If she didn`t get the message then, that`s totally on her. Regardless of how silly the law might be, it`s still the law. You get warned about it and still break it then guess what? You go to jail. Sorry, that`s how it works.

The rules are the rules. Why do people always insist on martyring themselves as a solution to a problem. If she wants to grow vegetables on her front lawn (a reasonable request), why doesn`t she get the folks in the neighbourhood together and try to change to bi-law?

Breaking the rules, even if you feel they are bad rules, is wrong and should be punishable.

The only reason they have by-laws like this is to promote the "image" of the house. An unsightly front yard could potentially reduce housing costs for homes around it. Of course, I don`t think a front yard garden is unsightly, but the reason for the by-law is to prevent people from turning a picture perfect suburb front yard into a garbage dump.

It`s BS, and I believe Penn and Teller did an episode of BS regarding this BS.
