Honestly get over being called British. Especially you Scots and your William Wallce love affair.
If you wanted to be *really* picky, you could argue that the Scots technically aren`t British. `Britain` is from the Roman province of Britannia, which didn`t include Scotland. The Scots were still in Ireland at that time.

The William Wallace thing is for people ignorant enough to think that Braveheart is history (the only thing that`s true in that film is that Wallace was executed by the English for treason).
You too Irish and Welsh.
Calling the Irish British is just plain wrong. It`s been at least 8000 years since the two islands were one.
Well crap England...err...Britain...err United Kingdom..errr..what the freak ever!
United Kingdomians, thank you very much! :)
Why don`t you just break it down more.
Well, there`s Wessex, Sussex, Mercia and the other 4 I can`t remember off the top of my head, just for England alone. Or you could go for the earliest recorded breakdown, that of the tribal lands when the Romans invaded.
Shall the rest of the world call you Celts, Normans, Saxons, or Anglos? Should we add Germanic and Roman in there for good measure?
Norse too - a surprisingly big influence. It wasm`t just viking raids. It`s Angles, btw, not Anglos.
Your what wars? Hmm. Pretty sure you did f**k all at WWI and WWII.
Find a history book, quick.

WW1, well, the USA did come into that so late that it was over before most of the soldiers they sent got to the front.

WW2, though, was far from drat all. Granted, the USA charged the UK a staggering amount for help in WW2, but they did provide it (and the UK did pay for it, in spades). It was necessary help (which was why they charged the UK so much for it). The UK might well have gone down without it, which would have removed most of the resistance to the Nazis in most of the world. There were many countries involved, but the UK was underpinning them all. That would have left the Nazis with far more troops and resources to throw at the USSR, which might well have fallen.

Our side wasn`t called the Allies just for propaganda.

Well, I thought it was funny.

Then again, being British my sense of humour is based wholly on persecution and cruelty and thusly this speaks to me.
It`d only have been better if someone was in the corner opressing an Irishman.
Yes, that`s right.
We really are a bunch of poos.

.
I especially enjoyed the part when the colonial was slapped.

Firstly, America doesn`t rule. Wonderful nation? HA!
Secondly, imitating you? LOL. Pretending to support you? We don`t support you; don`t want to; so we won`t. Your what wars? Hmm. Pretty sure you did f**k all at WWI and WWII.
Thirdly, stealing YOUR language? YOUR? I`m convinced you speak ENGLISH. Or, at least, your `version` of English, anyway.
Fourthly, infiltrate your culture? The video shows Mary Poppins, (the book) was written by an AUSTRALIAN born English novelist. What part did America take in the book? NOTHING. Then you see Harry Potter, by worlds greatest writer, J.K Rowling, who is ENGLISH. Then you see David Beckham, WHO IS ALSO ENGLISH.
Finally, what`s wrong with gay people? NOTHING.

Those are just some faults in that.

Have a fantastic 4th of July, retards.

@Bremir using your logic, should black people be thanking us for slavery, since it stopped them from running around with spears and loincloths and gave them "technology and civilization"? Idiot. Furthermore it wasn`t about taxes, it was about taxation without representation, quartering troops in the homes of civilians, and much more. Maybe read the Declaration, I`m pretty sure we had a nice long list of grievances.

Finally, we have (all of us, Europe and America) more than enough enemies in the world, do we really need to antagonize hate that was solved with two wars 200 years ago? And before you go blaming all of those enemies on "American Imperialism", a good portion of them started hating the West because of Britain`s arbitrary drawing of lines through the Middle East and India, so there is plenty of blame to share.

Baalthazaq

"Point 1: The English won the Revolutionary War, they weren`t called Americans till the next day."

Bzzz...wrong! They were called the Americas and American colonists long before. The 2 continents were called the Americas by cartologist Vespucci. The term was first applied to the native inhabitants in 1568 by Thomas Hacket. FYI the Constitution was mostly derived from the Iroquois and Cherokee Confederacy.

And to all these people getting uptight about being called British... WE ARE!! Britain was united at the time.. Hence the reason it was called the British Empire, we didn`t just colonize the Americas, we controlled half the freakin world.. AHHH!! Read before you make yourselves look stupid arguing a point you clearly know nothing about..

Ummm.... @Bremir (and FYI jonnycake63).. France did surrender, in June 1940, barely a year into the war, there were a few thousand resistance soldiers hidden underground for the remainder, but the war was definitely not a French victory, your land was handed back to you after to whimpered in a corner for 5 years..

Also, read a little about American history and you`ll get a better understanding of it all, I can already see that you don`t know poo just from reading your post..

I for one am grateful the US decided to realise it was a world war, if it weren`t for pearl harbour, we Europeans would be speaking a different language today, and quite possibly alot more of the world (Hitler was a freakin genius!! He just stretched a tiny bit too far), so for that I have to offer thanks to my colonial cousins..

Male 146
@Bremir you better watch what you say `bout `Merica. Otherwise our scientists done gonna get our time machines out and go back to the late 1930`s. When your little country goes, "Oh America, We are le tired and can`t fight the Nazi`s on our own. Please come save us before we surrender." Our scientists are gonna say F that and join up with the Nazi`s. Easiest. Victory. Ever.

And to think that war was less an "American" victory and more a French victory, seeing as they were the ones who won it for the "Americans".

It`s a funny thing because America celebrates a day, which they should be thankful toward the English for going to America in the first place and forming those colonies, that came from a war that began because, what, you didn`t want taxes and to be under the rule of the King?

And here Americans are paying taxing under what is essentially the rule of a king.

People say America is the greatest country in the world, but it comes across a large number of Americans don`t even trust each other and hate their own people. To America! Where you`re more likely to go ask for some sugar and get shot than get sugar.

Amen to that, brother. You know what? I`ve realized over the years that America truly is the best. I mean, the other countries are good and all, but who else can provide pure unadulterated freedom to 300,000,000 people?

Also true that America`s current politicians are bags of crap, but we`ll clear that out the with the right to bear arms if worse comes to worst.
