Please note that the top of the picture says, "HEAT INDEX" people. Also note that the temperature in the south and the plains states are lower than they are in the midwest to northeast. This is not global warming, but a weather pattern.

A lot of people seem to have no drating idea what global warming is. Its supposed to be hot in July. Nice to see that at least some people in the NW are getting as crappy a summer as we get every year.

Meanwhile in Washington some `expert` writes a paper on how global warming is fake, and then melts into a puddle of goo...

@NottaSpy You be trollin! (as usual) 1 WEEK is `weather`, 30 YEARS is a `trend`. Overall, the Earth`s temperature has NOT risen, period, when averaged out over longer times than a single `blip` year.

>Is in winter right now

>Probably has an 8-foot-wide spider nesting in his closet

I noticed a pattern here... Anyone else notice that the more intense heat is felt precisely where the New Madrid fault line is? Here`s a quick overlay I did:

I wonder if there`s any correlation between high heat and seismic activity. I`m not suggesting there is, but if anyone knows anything about this kind of stuff it`d be cool to expand on it. Just a thought!

i find it hilarious that people up north will start to run around like a Chinese fire drill and panic because it gets really hot for about a week or two. Feel lucky, the meteorologists are predicting another EIGHT weeks of 100 degree temperatures which started back in early June here in Texas.

Lay people need to leave the analysis of climate change to scientists who actually have the ability to analyze statistics and trends so that naturally occurring variances can be accounted for. Climate change deniers always use point-in-time instances to prove their point, which is totally invalid. People who say climate change is a myth are people who don`t want to change anything they do for the greater good. Self-absorbed people who only care about their own immediate needs. Everything we are being asked to do by environmentalists is good for the future of our planet whether climate change is true or not so why not just do it anyway? There`s really no excuse not to stop wasting so much and polluting so much so the future is better for the next generations.
It`s not a trend, I submitted a report that showed California is actually COOLING OFF over the past 30 years.
You say this in the same post where you compliment someone for have a brain because they know the difference between weather and climate. Climate change means that some places heat up, others cool off. Some places get more rain, other places get less. But the average temperature is going up. Climate deniers in the 80`s could be taken seriously, but in 2011 they are just corporate pawns that threaten the planet with misinformation.

Furthermore: When this heat breaks a record set in 1904 (for example) that means it was just as hot 100+ years ago. Was THAT caused by AGW too?

Winnipeg tied a record high the other day: 38.6C (iirc) which was set in 1934. You know, the Great Global Warming Period of the 1930`s, eh? Pfft!

Thanks @MikeyNiv! I`m glad someone on IAB has a brain!
Ooo, it`s hot in the summertime! Must be global warming!
Um, it`s not Global, it`s North America.
It`s not a trend, I submitted a report that showed California is actually COOLING OFF over the past 30 years.
And finally, AGW = Poo! Lies and more lies does not make good science!

Because the cement and blacktop absorb sunlight/heat more than lighter colored sand will.

The reason the Unites States and Mid-Eastern Canada got hit so bad is because of a massive pocket of high pressure air sitting over top of North America, combined with a strong Southern wind from the Golf of Mexico making it extremely humid. Any cold weather heading towards the lens was then redirected around cause a lot of rain and chaotic weather in the western Canada.

I hope that if this continues it forces people to realise that a global spike in temperature is a very real thing, and that our governments should be taking stronger steps to ensure the safety of our children.

WE HAD 4 TORNADOES IN ALBERTA THIS SUMMER! FOUR! Lucky hail did more damage than the tornadoes but the point is it`s rare to get ONE in a year up here.

I`ve been across the Great Salt Lake when it was 104. It was 92 in NE Nevada at the time, where I was working, and that was at about 7,000 feet. 88 and 86 respectively sounds rather cool in that area. So there are parts that are unusually hot, but also parts that are less hot than usual.
