Could not even have a talk about cosmology without interjecting their political bias at least twice by my count. But the same can be said for any interview on MSNBC. Modern media just pisses me off, this is a fascinating topic and is belittled when agenda`s are pushed into them.

Stop going on Fox, Dr. Nye! It`s beneath you.

It`s obvious it will take more than devastating floods, hurricanes, fires and tornadoes to ignore ignorant republican talking heads and listen to scientists.
Nothing new though. It`s been 150years since Darwin`s The Origin of Species and many republicans refuse to believe in evolution.

yeah, i never really understood why people are so afraid to believe science. it EXISTS in order to EXPLAIN things that we OBSERVE... but yet the same people are so willing to believe religion, which exists to explain things nobody has ever observed in a way that corrupts and distorts their view of the REAL world...

Would you guys make up your minds. I thought we decided Bill Nye was an Idiot.

No, what we actually decided from that post was that:
    1) Nye was technically incorrect in saying that other countries do not ever have tornadoes, but completely correct in saying that other countries don`t have the setup to have major tornadoes like America does (indeed, tornadoes in other countries are so small that they often go unnoticed), and
    2) CrakrJak can`t do maths.

@greenbastered: You`re entitled to your opinions, but not your own facts. The facts support that our climate is undergoing a change. Another fact is that most humans would like to leave our kids a world where they can still drink the water and breathe the air without developing health problems. Point is, even if you don`t believe man contributes to climate change, it makes no sense (unless your a Conservative) to oppose legislation designed to reduce pollution.

But... science has like numbers and stuff which is algebra or something, I no good at numbers so science must be bad. Instead I`m going to believe in an invisible deity because believing in a magical happy place makes me feel better.

just because one believes in God, does not make that person stupid, or bad at science. I believe in God and had plans to be a physicist. Please show respect to everyone. I don`t say that because you don`t believe in God, that you are an evil person. So please don`t say that those who believe in God are stupid.
For the record, there is no scientific way to prove or disprove the existence of God.

You mean scientists changed their views based on new evidence and knowledge? How DARE THEY!

I mean, they should just make up an opinion and stick to it whatever happens, regardless of what comes to light down the line, shouldn`t they?

Yah I agree, why review the scientific results from the people who have studied the problem for the past few decades and try to pinpoint the flaw in those studies when you can just summarily dismiss those studies by saying, you scientists are stupid.

It is so funny that so called "scientist" still believe Man is causing "Global Warming", oops I mean "Climate Change".
They use to believe we were causing the Next Ice Age.

    I call your bluff:

Provide references to scientists who currently think that human activity is a factor in climate change and who in the past said that humans were causing the next ice age.

    You can`t, can you?

But that won`t stop you continuing to claim it`s true, will it? You don`t need evidence because you have faith that you`re right.

I`m old enough to remember the "ice age cometh!" fad *in the news media* in the 1970s. Note "news media", not "scientists". It went like this:

Scientist: The evidence indicates that interglacial periods in the past were usually shorter than the one we are currently in.

Newspaper: SCIENTISTS SAY ANOTHER ICE AGE WILL HAPPEN SOON!

Wish you could have joined our ranks in the physics area.
Anyway I think that you misread my statement which implied that those without understanding tend to lean towards faith-based assumptions because of their deficiencies. The converse is false though.
