    That`s Rugby, not football or football(soccer)just sayin`. I have no idea what the rules are in that sport, but I`ve watched whole games and it makes American football look like a game of nerf two hand touch. Those are some manly bastards that lot!

    *facepalm* I`m sorry. Not all us Americans see a sport and think it`s just a different country`s version of football. I know this is rugby. I love rugby.

    Then I stand corrected. I`ve never heard of Australian rules football. Looks like a rugby ball that they`re playing with, what are the differences between that game and Rugby?

    Some of the differences between rugby and AFL: AFL is played on an oval pitch (usually), AFL uses 11 players (rugby has 15), and the scoring for the kicking is different. Rugby league can be seen as a sort of bridge between Rugby union (`normal` rugby) and AFL. In short the three sports have numerous similarities but are different in certain rules, pitch and scoring.

    I`m sorry, you had a typo, it`s "Aussie Handegg", fore a second I though I would actually see a real football where a foot is used in order to play.

    Australian (not many) rules football, the hardest version of football. Are there are any other variants of football in which this would be an allowed move?

    Aussie rules uses the feet to dribble, pass and shoot. You also use your hands of course, but kicking the ball with your foot is a massive part of the game.

    Saying Rugby and AFL are the same is like saying that netball and basketball are the same.. They have certain similarities but its a completely different ruleset and play of the game.

    don`t worry paddy, its just a chantard who thinks he`s funny for saying `handegg` in place of football because he can`t accept there are many versions of football and the `typical` football in europe is called soccer (association football)

    > Aussie Football just became the most bad-ass of all sports

    Um no, 20 years too late. Back in the 70`s and 80`s every mark was like this, you weren`t a Pro if you couldn`t take a high mark like this. Then the game pansied down and the players started trading contracts for skill, so that now a mark like this is rare.

    So no, Oz Riles didn`t `just become` badass, just one sunflower doing what was normal 20 years ago in a field of daffodils.

    Aussie rules is stupid for the following reasons;

    1. It is the only sport where you have `behinds` a second set of goals around the main ones, you get a point for missing the real goal but being nice and close so you get a point or else you might be sad or cry or something.

    2. Restarts and `kick off`s involve the referee throwing the ball backwards over his head and bouncing the ball really hard on the ground respectively. Both totally random and stupid / skill-less.

    nospoons, you are, as they say, a drating moron. fair enough if you dont understand the game or dont like it, but dont try and break it down and ridicule it, you can apply that same stupid logic to any sport. you obviously dont understand sports whatsoever.
    As for you Lionheart2, spoken like a true over the hill hack! the game today has ten times the skill and speed compared to 20years ago. they were still drinking tinny`s and smoking fags at half time in the 70s, you just cant compare the two, the sport has evolved, obviously not to your liking, but the fact that the AFL isnt broke and its now the number 1 game in Australia, says its done something right!

    "...they were still drinking tinny`s and smoking fags at half time in the 70s..."

    @apedrana - hahaha! ...I think we had better clarify for users of the North American lexicon that "fags" is an Australian colloquialism for cigarettes. (Lest Aussie rules lose its newly-bestowed "badass" rep!)

    Aussie Rules Football is the roughest, toughest sport I have ever heard of... the two rules (the only two that I know of and please correct me if I`m wrong) that they have for on-field conduct are: 1) no elbowing, and 2) no tackles below the knees. Yup, that means that anything else is ok. They do not even stop the game if a fight breaks out!! Not even rugby compares, because these guys wear less protective equipment than rugby players!
