Well put sir.

@ak47reaper
sociopaths tent to gravitate toward the law enforcement profession just as pedophiles gravitate toward catholic clergy. yeah, it`s pretty much a power trip thing, though they are trained to develop an "a$$hole mode" for their own safety. i guess i can understand the point of the training, but a lot of these douchebags thrive on it; hence, sociopaths.

Nice to see the officer is very well trained in law enforcement. Ask for something and when it`s shown to you, you completely ignore it and decide the driver has broken the law. Please send the officer to jail.

Bombaytech- thank you for the update, and no, I agree, not all cops are like this. I have a carry concealed license and an NRA sticker on my car (on the drivers side, I`ve seen more than one cop visibly take note of it before coming to my window on stops) and have never been treated with anything other than professionalism.

I do hope these guys get properly disciplined, though. I would not want to meet up with them in a situation like this.

UPDATE from the website:
UPDATE 7/22/2011: Canton Police announced Thursday that the officer was relieved of all duties in June following an internal investigation complaint filed in this matter. The local Canton Repository has done some additional investigatory work into the officers and an excellent analysis of the video / audio we posted. The video and story has gone both viral and national crossing over to websites not typically affiliated with the pro-gun movement. Shortly after 7:00pm Thursday our website could no longer handle the volume of visitors we were receiving. We promptly quadrupled the resources behind OhioCCW.org in light of the popularity of this story.

I watched half way and couldn`t watch anymore. I am in law enforcement. These police were completely out of line. Please, please anyone watching this, do not think that all police are like this. They were out of line.

That`s a situation that requires fixing: how about making it illegal to carry a weapon around?

That is really sad. The officer did not follow his protocol and if the guy would have insisted on talking over the officer he would have been treated the same way. It`s clearly the officer at fault here. I hope the driver is glad this video is online and not `lost`

dumbass cop, would he rather it was a criminal without license?

maybe he should have secured the driver before sticking his head in the backseat.

maybe he should have talked with the driver before starting an illegal search of his vehicle.

That is the most f-ed up statement I have read in a long time. Get a damn clue. A statement like that makes you sound like a worthless human being yourself, no better than the cop in the video.

A persons reason for wanting a gun is not the point.
He does have the right to but the government keeps interfering with that.

why not say ..."WTF does someone want free speech anyway!"

Everything about this points to the f`d up nature of Merica.... The fact that almost any random knob can get a liscencce to carry a concealed gun making some jumpy - power trippin cop lose his sh*t. I`d bet the majority of cops handle things like this nut-job rather than the cool dude in the earlier post! WTF do citizens need hand-guns for????? I`ll never understand....

No this is just a stupid law to try to take away peoples licenses to posses a gun. If you were paying attention you`d see that by running the license plate or drivers license they could see he has a permit so the requirement to say you`re carrying is pointless if they are capable of doing their job right. Besides that what makes you think someone who wants to commite crimes with a gun would go through a bunch of crap to get a gun legally when they can get one illegaly easier and make it much less traceable.

@Negal

How`s the driver a POS???

The officer is clearly unfit to serve as well as a liability to the city he serves. He put himself and his fellow officers in harms way by failing to secure the scene. He executed a search without establishing cause or obtaining consent. Any evidence found would have been tossed out of court. He made direct threats of violence and threats of illegal retaliation to the driver. The officer had to of known he was being recorded so in my opinion he can include himself in the stupid category. The worst part is the driver, who is a POS, will most likely end up with a hefty cash settlement. Well at least it will make for a good training video. There is also a repeated issue with all of these videos of abuse that no officer seems to call for the "duty" officer for back-up.

Wow. What a dumb cop. Seriously. He can`t shut his mouth for one second. And if the driver was a cop killer, I guess he would have shot the cops long before they even knew he had a gun. But he was quiet and respectful, even with that officer yelling at him. He handled it well, I think.

Also, police say all this poo, justifying their actions with, "Well, we have to act like non-nice individuals for our own safety." How about you do your job for your own safety? If the police officer had just done his job and engaged all the people in the vehicle in a timely, respectful manner, none of this would have happened.

I`ve seen quite a few video`s claiming to show abuse of power where I instead believed the police to be in the right. This officer, however, needs to be fired and committed to an asylum for the safety of others.

I don`t think these people mean to say they hate all cops and they should all die. I`m sure the 7 or 8 good ones deserve to live full healthy lives. It`s the other 99.9% that are jacked up on anger and power so bad that they can`t think before they act. The people MADE the job of police. WE the citizens PUT these individuals into their positions of power. They have no right to abuse that position whether endangered or whatever the case. THEY make the decision to go into a field that is as dangerous as it is, but THEY take an oath to serve and protect, no matter the cost. THEY need to deal with it and serve their purpose. It`s the "burning the ant under the magnifying glass" mentality that makes us so angry. The fact that only a fraction of the dialogue here was necessary by writ of the law, and the unnecessary bit was all chauvinistic bullying. Word to the wise cops: do your phucking job. No more. No less.

In answer to "IGMO"- Of course I read the subtitles. Even though the police were angry and occupied and rude, the driver should have informed them, period. He had the time/opportunity/responsibility to do so. He also kept the permit when he went to the police car. He`s lucky he didn`t get shot. A lot of cops have anger/rage problems, I know. But this driver`s (non)actions made this scene worse.

Well, Angie. Quick to judge. 6,800 posts! Look at you go, defending the world on "I am bored"!

I agree, it`s unfair for someone to judge all people in a group based on one persons actions, if only it were one. It`s an unfair world. So if I were an upstanding cop, I`d be pissed at this a$$hole for sure.

Funny that you chose a black robber as an example. Who`s the bigot now? lol

Punk.

If you`ve never been in the cop`s position then you only have one perspective. IMO the driver pushed it (maybe testing) and should have informed immediately. No excuses. He could have said, "I have a concealed gun permit-there is a weapon in the vehicle." But nope-he sat there mute by his own choice even while the 2nd officer was searching in the car! The cop was thinking of what COULD have happened! No sympathy or support for this driver. None.

You shouldn`t be allowed to become a cop if you have a temper like that. Who says those things? "I should`ve pulled out my 40 glock and put 10 holes in you", "and I wouldn`t lose any sleep over it." Just for saying those lines he should be fired. The guy is a complete douche and I know how crappy it feels to sit there and be accused of something regardless of telling the truth and them insisting you`re lying. Innocent until proven guilty, pig.

No, you hate them because you`re an irrational idiot and a coward.

You`re an irrational idiot because you know that your hatred is unjustified and you`re a coward because you won`t even stand up for your own bigotry. Instead, you blame other people for it. Pathetic and sad.

You`re no better than someone who hates all "blacks" because they know someone who got mugged by someone who was "black".

So maybe I`m just being naive (shucks being Canadian and all... =P) but of you live in a state where it is legal to carry a concealed weapon, perhaps at the beginning of any stop, the questions "Are you carrying a weapon? May I see your permit?" should be asked. Then of course proceed as per usual with the death threats and insults...

These cops need to go through some re-training, The main one is entirely too hotheaded for the job at all. If either of them had let the driver speak they would`ve been informed more quickly. These two cops thought they were driving up on a pimp/hooker situation and were too concentrated on that issue rather than secure the driver.

Local cop back in the USA I knew was suspended from duty. Same time his wife was divorcing him for abuse. He eventually went to the house killed her in front of the children. Now he`s serving life.

typical abuse of power by cops. They are not here to protect and serve. Even Law abiding citizens are the enemy to cops. This makes for a dangerous environment for the people. We have to carry guys just to protect ourselves from overzealous cops.

The officer violated a lot of police protocols from the get-go. If anything, he only has himself to blame for what happened. He was the one that searched the vehicle with an occupant still inside, although he tries to lay the blame on the occupant of the vehicle. I hope he at least got demoted for this or got some desk duty for a while.

Like most cops, he`s a bully. Either he was a bully in school or worse he was bullied and now wants revenge on the world. They have to agressively dominate everyone around them. To build their own egos they have to push others down to build theirs up.

They are NOT there to protect you. They are there to control you. "Keep the Peace" by any means. You do as they say OR ELSE! They don`t care about right and wrong. Let the courts sort it out.

I follow this up with the usual question, how long before civilians start a black panther party type group to retaliate against "this bullpoo" as the very nice officer would say...

Ya know, it`s things like this that make me lose any kind of respect for law enforcement. I`ve personally been harassed by them for doing absolutely nothing unlawful. Cops loooooooove to pull you over for something (even if it`s a bogus reason, having no probable cause) and then they want to search you and your car so that they can peg you on anything. It`s bullsh*t.

This officer messed up by not following proper procedure and securing all three people before searching the car, and he knew it, so he took it out on the driver. I believe he was as much upset with himself as he was the driver, but he sure wasn`t going to admit that on camera. I would love to have a concealed weapons permit, but scenario combined with the fact that I have a 7 year old is exactly why I do not.

I hate it when people put a bunch of text at the beginning of a video but don`t leave it up long enough to read the whole thing. Then I end up going back to finish the last two sentences but I inevitably go back too far and have to wait 10 seconds to get to the actual video.

Rant over. I`m going to actually watch the video now.
