@ fatninja01 Really? The kinect? No its not. The technology behind the kinect maybe but thats been out for years. The playstation had somthig like that out in 2004. And thats just when my friend bought it, not even when it came out.

You know whats usefull? Getting a lot done with tiny small movements, maybe even with thought control. You whats useless? Having to flail about just scroll the screen.

Just like I hate playing video games that make me jump around I would also hate using a computer that made me do large sweeping gestures to accomplish simple tasks. I mean great job copying the effect but really this is not something I would ever use.

Um, I think Johnny Mnemonic had a version of this way before Minority Report.

aren`t Kinnect hackers already doing this kind of stuff? Only, on a regular sized tv in their living rooms withOUT special gloves or other apparatuses.

I call this pretty fail. About 10 years too late.

There is a reason why we don`t have computers as big as a room.
This is it.

Am i the only one who read the title and thought this would be a computer that convicted people of crimes before they committed them?

Touchscreen computers and smart phones are excuses for biometric scanners.

diylobotomy,
So these guys inspired the xbox kinect, because they designed the `Minority Report` computers.
This is from the site:
`The g-speak SOE (spatial operating environment) is Oblong`s radically new platform. The SOE made its public debut in the film Minority Report, whose bellwether interface one of Oblong`s founders designed. But its full history extends backward to three decades of research at the MIT Media Lab. The g-speak SOE implements the biggest advance in human-machine interface in twenty-five years.`

I didn`t see anything that can`t or hasn`t been done with a 3 button mouse and keyboard. I would even bet I could do some of that stuff faster with a mouse/kb. Doesn`t look like it provides anything that would increase productivity. Might be useful if you are learning to be a conductor though :-P

Also I loved this bull poo statement:
"direct manipulation provides intuitive, high bandwidth access to information."

so does Google.

or you could use a mouse and not look like a douche

We need this as about as much as we need a new Tom Cruise movie where he plays an 80`s rocker.

For starters, I`d rather not stand in front of a computer, and lastly, I`d rather not have to convert half my house in order to use it.

Cool, I think, especially if your job requires you to stand around and manipulate random graphics images in a big empty room. I see very few porn-related applications, though.

yeah, seems cool, but i dont really see it being all that useful for everyday purposes. it shines a cool light on the future of video games though.
