I didn"t realize this sport even existed, much less that they had actual competitions...very interesting!

First impression from the line up at the start, safe to bet their all stoners.

Second impression about the 1:30 mark, oh, heh, that`s pretty neat.

Third impression about the 2:30 mark, HEY, these kids just couldn`t afford a trampoline.

*on a different note, wtf is with the t-shirts "slack line is not a crime"? Are they really being dickish enough to set this up in public places where it would be a crime?*

Wasn`t so much a film about the competition but more of a documentation of a douchebag hipster convention !!!
Nice bouncing on a strap though !

You would think if you are a male and you participate in this.... might as well just get neutered.

Wow- so much sh*t talk in this thread. I love how something as simple and awesome as other people developing skill and having fun with an activity can arouse the ire of the internet.

Because the other sports didn`t offer enough chances to rack yourself...

Rubberband gymnastics-they`ll have to wear tight swimsuits with their hair in buns before they ever get that into the Olympics

This is a great home movie. Just like any home movie, it`s only interesting to those who are in it.

A 30 second overview of the "activity" would have been better

I`d have been more impressed with this had it been at least 6 ft off the padded mat.

Ridiculous. 2 mins of self important build up for an activity that seems to be exclusively populated by over-privileged brats. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Not.

Impressive stuff at ~2:40. Spilts into one-handed balance on a slackline...damn.

Dean Potter takes it much further than that.

One example

There was an interesting documentary on him on Channel 4. This link is probably UK-only

The series was called Daredevils and this episode was called The Sky Walker. Maybe people elsewhere can find it (or fake being in the UK to watch it).

No wonder humans haven`t landed on Mars yet. We`re spending our time doing this or watching reality television. [/cynicism]

I forsee 2 things:
A massive cult of `extreme sports` types taking this up and
A massive influx of amateur fail videos coming to IAB shortly

Lets not go calling this is sport.

But it is an interesting activity.

Interesting. It looks like fun - but how is it judged? Are there actual judges, or does the crowd simply cheer? Is there a winner?

I might have missed something in the video that answers these questions.

Since i only watched the first 1:38 of the video, I am assuming slacklining is a high-five competition.

Am I the only one who didn`t know what slacklining was until about 1:50 into this video?
