He is filming what he thinks is brutality but then he speaks out. Did they take him down for yelling or filming?

So you know I am done with this link and leave feeling the same way I did when I came here in the first place. COPS ARE CORRUPT! They are out to help them selves their cops buddies and push people around. I have no respect for any cops. they have never helped me in anyway and have only stood in the way of getting things done while wasting tax payers money.

the difference between me and you is i don`t try to pass my opinions off as facts. i state things based on my experiences and things i witness there fore i am my own proof and source you on the other hand try to pass your opinions off as facts and show some weak ass proof to try and justify it. So when you produce some as you say "genuine evidence" then maybe you will have a leg to stand on til then keep your OPINIONS and try to not pass them off as facts to try and make your self more credible. now what?!?

My Step sister is LAPD and there is some dirty cops... actually there are a lot of dirty cops. But it you look at the demographics in Los Angeles there are so many Gang members that being black or Mexican does cause suspicion. Once you Live in L.A. and been a victim of a crime it changes your whole outlook.

Oh and congratulations on having being a functioning member of society. The thinly veiled accusations could do with some work however.

Why don`t you provide your sources then for this conspriracy? You keep asking me for evidence and then shooting it down because there is this huge cover up. Why don`t you provide some evidence then? Genuine evidence, not just some videos online, as i`ve already explained why that is.

Reports do not reflect corrupt cops. How many cases do you think go unreported? How many people go to the police to file a complaint but get turned away and it is done with from there? How many cops let people go because they are friends or use their uniform and position to get free goods or get out of trouble themselves? How many people are stopped, searched and harrased becuase a certain cop doesn`t like the way you look? Are all of these cases reported? Where are your statistics for that? Their are different levels of corruption and not all cases go reported. So to link a site the just tells you of the REPORTED cases is not showing anywhere near the whole picture.

Thanks for that, i was going off some old data. Which shows that not all cops are like that. I notice Linuz82 is now suspiciously quiet.

@chimmeychang

It`s thinking like yours that`s the reason our country is heading the direction it is. You can try to justify the officers actions all you want but the fact of the matter is, the videographer was doing nothing wrong and breaking no laws. He wasn`t interfering with the police in any way. They had no right to detain or arrest him at all.

Our rights are slowly being taken away and with your thinking, it`s only a matter of time before we have no more rights.

What video are y`all watching? there was a whole street to ride on, why would you choose to get really close to cops who are obviously detaining one person, and are very heavily out numbered and vulnerable...You don`t get to see what the approaching rider did, you don`t get to hear what he said, you don`t know why the officer made a kicking motion near the bike...All we know is some douche bag filmed it(a poor job at that)posted it, and claimed police brutality... YOU WILL KNOW POLICE BRUTALITY WHEN YOU SEE IT!!!there will be no question, and chances are the people that receive it will deserve it, they will be given a chance to not do the bad stuff they were doing to get the polices attention, and they will do dumb stuff anyway, get the beating and claim it was not their fault, just like any other 5 year old.

The officer clearly kicked one of the wheels of the bikes going by sort of dangeriously. There was already a person seemingly on the groud, and I feel those cops for fun chased him down over what he said aloud when he kicked it. The whole issue does seem a bit stupid but he called him out on an obvious mischivious action. There needs to be some kind of action to take seriously when dealing with this ON THE CIVILIANS side. These a group of mobsters in blue uniforms posing as friends to our "benifits".

Bottom line.
Cops are people. By and large most people (cops included) are good. There are bad people too (again, cops included). Reganom is right about people posting only the bad stuff on YouTube. Who`d watch it if it was cops treating people respectfully? Then it would just be a training video for rookie cops.
In my 49 years on this planet, I`ve been around cops most of my life (some family members) and guess what I`ve found? Most cops are decent people doing a very difficult and highly stressful job. Show a cop respect and you`ll get respect. Be a dick and most likely, you`ll still get treated respectfully. Be a dick in a high stress situation like what was shown here, and this could be the result.
Again, I`m not defending what they did...but I understand. Cops are just people. Who among us can say they would have acted better in this situation.

It`s gotta be their training that makes them this way. Their damn cop school must be teaching them to disregard citizens, arrest them. Force is always necessary.

Soon, this type of brutality will become the normal accepted behavior of the police.

Well in most states, there is a 2 party notice law. (These states include California)Where it is ILLEGAL and a FELONY (meaning heavy jail time and not just a fine) to record someone without their knowledge of them being recorded.
Some states have a 1 party law, so you can get away with these kinds of videos but California is not one of them.
There is a major lawsuit going on right now for this exact thing. In Boston a bystander was filming cops arrest a man, when the cops turned around and saw him filming them they arrested him and charged him with aiding the escape of a prisoner.
Although it might sound wrong, according to this LAW. The police are WELL within their means to arrest anyone who films them without their knowledge. Note: I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS poo LAW, but you`re best bet (if you are going to record cops) is to, literally, YELL at the cops and tell them you are recording this, so that they can not say it was secretly recorded, blah blah blah.

Reganom,

After viewing your fine statistical information I did some fact checking of my own.

There are over 800,000 law enforcement officers in the US. By most accounts I found they average 5 calls a day that they have to do reports for. That`s about 4 million police/civilian interactions per day, minimum. So for the 14 month period your link used as it`s time frame, that`s about 1.68 billion police/civilian interactions. If you use your sites numbers that equates to 0.00035% of those interactions result in reports of (not confirmed) police misconduct...

As to "not based on facts", it would suggest that a site opposed to cops would surely bump up the numbers for their cause. Is that what you`re suggesting?

Link

That is the link for the statistic i mentioned of 6,000.

The only arguments i can see that you presented are:

Greater than 50% of police are corrupt.
That my experiences are less important than the videos you`ve seen.

I`ve given you a link which you could easily have found yourself (thinking for yourself are you), from a source that is against cops, showing that compared to the number of reports less than 50% of police have been reported for misconduct. That`s assuming that each reported incidence is for a seperate cop.

Your other argument is merely a selected and biased view point.

You looked at one website that is not listed and I am sure not based on facts how is that research. Nothing you have said is based on fact yet you insist on calling me wrong prove me wrong. Prove to me that what I have said is untrue. If you can`t then shut your face.

Luniz82:

So you base me not thinking for myself (despite having researched statistics) on what? That i disagree with you?

I`ve not proved you wrong on what? Please explain what you would like me to prove you wrong with? That power corrupts? That the majority of police are corrupt?

I am not paraphrasing anything I am stating something. Why do I have to be quoting something to say what I feel? Why can they not be my own idea? Just cause you do not think for yourself does not mean others don`t use your brain it will get you further then letting other think for you. You have still yet to prove me wrong.

Linuz82:

I think you`ll find that it`s absolute power that corrupts absolutely.

I provide you with some statistics (which by the way I got from an anti cop site) and you come back with conspiracy theories? Let`s say that quite a few cases of misconduct aren`t reported that would still require those 6000 cases to become 200,000 cases against individuals for it to be a majority. Yet that seems highly plausible to you?

Again to the countless videos you`ve seen i once again point out that normality doesn`t sell. Why would someone video a cop being normal, post it on youtube with the tag "Cop treats me with respect"?

You ask to "PROVE ME WRONG PLEASE!"[sic] yet fail to provide sufficient evidence for me to work with.

@reganom Just cause that is what was reported does not mean that is what took place. And yes from my few experiences I see cops to be power hungry and love to push civilians around that plus the countless videos of cops shooting unarmed civilian and treating the populace like this is where I get my conclusion. You are guessing from your own thoughts what the rest of them do. No sorting necessary I know what I am saying and it is proven by the countless victims to this gang called the police. The fact that a cop can do what they want to you and you are not allowed to defend yourself or fight back because they are in uniform just goes to show you how corrupt they can and will be when they want with little to no repercussion for them but you will be charged with ridiculous things for defending yourself as a human being. with power comes corruption a MAJORITY of the time. PROVE ME WRONG PLEASE!

Luniz82:

You may want to sort out your arguments a little bit. "basing it on your FEW experiences" then going on to say "from this 1 video I conclude that the majority of police officers are evil". On top of that people don`t post videos online of people behaving properly.

6000 cases of misconduct were reported last year, 400,000 (approx.) cops in the US. Seems a lot less than half to me (a majority).

There is a reason people will continue to bear arms and deal with their own problems rather then bring in a corrupt entity to "help" them.

@reganom so you are saying with your limited encounters with the police that a MAJORITY of them are good? How do you figure? So the actions of the few police you deal with determines how the rest of the behave? People like you are completely blind as to what is really going on in the world. Stick your head back in your hole and tell yourself everything is alright. Funny how there was more then one cop there and 100% of them abused their power. That to me = the majority.

There are two options here:

1) You`re being sarcastic
2) You`re not being sarcastic.

Either way you`ve mis-read what the guy said. You agreed with gary to him needing to be beaten up, when gary actually didn`t say that he deserved it.
