Sure it"s probably traumatizing for the mother to watch her kid get trimmed, but seriously?
vv Where have you heard this? I can`t see how having unprotected sex with or without being circumsized would make any difference at all both are exposed to bodily fluids of pretty much the same amount.
The main physiological purpose of the foreskin is to protect the delicate penile glans. If that protection is cut off, the glans will toughen. That`s why it`s less sensitive (in addition to the nerves being cut in the foreskin, obviously). It`s akin to callouses on hands and feet, though not as obvious a change. It`s thought possible that the toughening of the glans in response to be depirived of its natural protection makes it harder for some pathogens to get through it. It might be true. It might also be true that some mutilated men in the studies didn`t screw around as much because they were Muslims and that`s why infection was less common amongst mutilated men.

No, the "hygiene" occasionally refered to was mental hygiene.

There are a number of quotes from articles of the time on this page

It`s never had anything to do with physical cleanliness. In times and places where washing was uncommon, people were dirty and genital mutilation wouldn`t make any difference. In times and places where people wash often, people are clean and genital mutilation wouldn`t make any difference.

If it was about hygeine, people would be recommending it be forced on girls as well. Lots of warm, damp folds with labia.

In both sexes, normal washing of any external surfaces is ample for hygeine purposes. Seconds in a show

So you have no problem with cultures in which the custom is to cut off part of female babies` genitals, right? You`d not be at all bothered by a man who finds unmutilated women`s genitals a complete turn off?

Don`t bother with the "it`s completely different" line, because it isn`t. I`m talking about cutting off the clitoral hood and labia minora, which is the most common form of female genital mutilation and physiologically comparable with the male genital mutilation you find so attractive.

Try this thought experiment:

Imagine a man from somewhere else arguing in support of cutting part of infant girls` genitals off because he thinks women`s genitals look better with part of them cut off.

What would you think about that man?

The old rationale that circumcision promotes cleanliness and prevents UTIs is false- it`s just as effective to teach good hygiene. I was circumcised per Jewish tradition, and I don`t have a problem with that, but I won`t be circumcising my son if I have one.

well no medical proof that id does anything weather your snipped or not, in the past is was done for hygienic purposes but if you live in the modern world today and shower more than 1 a week that should not be an issue, I feel it should not be done, religious practices included, and if you disagree then why is female circumcision a crime against the female but its acceptable to do it to young boys........im all natural and proud of it, and for those of you ladies that dont like it, your loss, NEXT!!

In many places, it is not being practiced anymore because there is no problems with hygiene. However, there is a bit of a difference when it comes to hygiene. Gentlemen with un-cut penises should be a little more aware of how clean they are, as it tends to build up, and become a little bit more a problem in the scent area.

Personally, I find myself drifting towards males that are un-cut, not because the sex is better, but because they seem to have less of an ego about their man parts. I don`t know why, but cut males seem to have an unnatural attraction to being convinced they are better or more studly because they don`t have a foreskin. I think they are the ones with a complex. They have to have a big ego to get over the fact that they don`t have as good a time as the rest of us.

The custom arose a couple of hundred years ago during a time of mass hysteria about the evils of masturbation. Genital mutilation was put forward as a way to prevent masturbation. It happened for a while in some other countries, but it only really took off in the USA and it only became an ingrained custom there. Possibly something to do with religious fundamentalism being more entrenched in the USA.

If anyone thinks I`m making this up (and I wouldn`t blame you, because it is irrational and ludicrous to the point of insanity), just say and I`ll provide a few postfuls of references.

It`s brutal to cut part of an infant`s genitals off because it`s the custom in your culture?

No, really? Damn, I`m so glad I read that. Otherwise, I would never have realised that it`s brutal to cut part of an infant`s genitals off because you think it looks fashionable.

What freaks me out is that it does seem as though these people do care about the suffering they`re inflicted on their children by mutilating their children`s genitals for fashion. How the hell can you do it at all if you give a damn? Seriously, how?

This is an ancient, useless, unnecessary Torture of a child for no reason (on par with foot binding, and female circumcision) and should be abolished in a civilized society

It should be the individuals choice... Once they`re old enough to make said choice that is. If having the foreskin on really is that much of a health issue and they do have problems, then the person should be able to have it removed,or at least explore that idea if they want; but if there is no issue then just leave it the hell alone.

..not only be illegal, but a criminal offense.

I hate it when I see people use the argument "it`s the parent`s decision if they want to raise a kid a certain way" to apply to anything regarding children. Using the same logic, I can say that it`s not up to you to say that keeping a kid locked in the basement is wrong, that`s the parent`s decision.

Parents do have the right to consent to operations if it`s necessary to save the life of their child. The foreskin does not threaten the child`s health or life, so they have no right.

The pro-circumcision people are retarded. "The human body looks better after being mutilated" is not a legitimate reason to do this to an infant; you do not have the right to perform plastic surgery on your baby. Neither is "it`s cleaner"; if girls can be expected to keep clean, so can boys.

The argument "it`s reduced the chances of these diseases" is stupid. The evidence it does is sketchy at best; but even if they did, would you have the moral right to cut off the arms of your baby if there was evidence to say that people without arms are less prone to a certain disease?

Or better yet: breast cancer is incredibly common; do parents have the right to amputate their baby`s breasts at birth?

Nor should it be "the parent`s decision." Children, unlike objects, do have rights. This includes the right to bodily integrity. It should be his choice if he wants plastic surgery as an adult.

Circumcising an infant should

You know, the argument for or against circumcision is always given the perspective of something complicated that everyone has to decide for their kid. They say that, while on the one hand you have the scarring of the male genitalia, on the other hand it`s cleaner.

This is a false equivalence. People assume that, since it`s been done for so long there must be a good and justifiable reason for it.

Female circumcision, performed in Sudan, is obviously recognized as a cruel act by a society with a warped view of sexuality, yet somehow male circumcision is ignored

Circumcision is a brutal and unnecessary ritual brought about by arse backward religions who wanted to control sexual desire by cutting off one of the most sensitive parts of the male genitalia. What I always found funny though, is these same people will tell you it`s a hell worthy sin to question stupid rules attributed to god, but apparently It`s okay to question god`s natural design. Except for rare cases where there is a legitimate medical condition, there is no reason to artificially alter what took millions of years of evolution to perfect.

I learned that after sex i have to clean up, but my only method is basically squeezing the fluid out, and whatever i cant get out stays in there. And a response:
"If you are not pulling the foreskin all the way back, and washing thoroughly with water, using your thumb to get in all the little creases, it`s not really a thorough job.
I have been able to retract my foreskin since the age of four, and I still do not put the head under the shower directly...it hurts. I cup the water in my hand, and wash that way. You need to get the head accustomed to being touched. Retract the foreskin and touch it every day, but only with a lubricated finger."

In Europe it`s only done for religious or medical reasons, not because it`s maybe more hygienic. It takes a matter of seconds to clean under the foreskin properly and you cant tell the difference when erect. Also circumcision desensitises the penis. Not something that I want.

Most of the points people make about the benefits of circumcision seem to be rendered entirely moot by basic and simple hygiene. If you can`t be bothered to clean your penis, do you really think foreskin or not will make THAT much of a difference? It seems rather a ridiculous argument.
Furthermore, the aesthetic argument is not only extremely superficial and ridiculous, it`s also cultural. For instance, while American women may prefer a circumcised penises, I assume women from nations where it is not the norm prefer uncircumcised or are simply not bothered. Furthermore, I imagine most men don`t care what women think about the aesthetics of an unerect penis. If it really was that beneficial, wouldn`t other nations adopt it or at least advise the parents in considering it? It seems to be that for a normal person that is at least somewhat clean (meaning the vast majority of people i presume?)circumcision makes an entirely negligible difference, if any.

Really, it takes a chick to answer this?

1) Health reasons - it is easier to keep cleaner and NOT get smelly or worse, an infection. It`s easier to clean a smooth shaft than the nooks and crannies of a wrinkly flap of skin.

2) as boneymizz perfectly stated: it prevents your dick from looking like a shriveled snufalufagus alien skin hose

What is it with Americans and circumcision?

It`s so f`ed that they`re all `brutal, horrible, poor thing` but not one was like `maybe we should reconsidering doing this to our kids`.

It was kind of disappointing to hear the news that circumcision reduced HIV transmission because chopping of part of a baby`s dick is pretty messed up.

Jesus.... how I hate parents who have their babies circumcised. "it prevents infections blah blah blah" yeah just like gouching their eyes out when they`re little will prevent them from ever getting cataract.

"As far as I know there`s no medical reason to do it."

The APA disagree, stating officially that there are enough benefits to offset their earlier recommendation of "No" and change it to "If you want", though they still don`t make it advisory to the general public.

The WHO are still if I recall correctly weighing their decision, though I would suggest that`s not something they do for 0 medical benefit.

Pretty much a member of the bald-headed beasts club, myself. Don`t know what I`m missing, I guess. But a lot of girls here in the States seem to prefer it.
