You You So Racist, Dove Soap Advert? [Pic]

Notice the wording and notice how the women are positioned in the ad. Blatant racism or just a coincidence?

And if it were the other way, it would be racists by insinuating that they`re more greasy or something.

Buz - your first formatting discretion was better, however I have to say this must be the most utilitarian post I`ve ever seen on I-A-B; and I`ve been around since the days of buddy.

There`s got to be a better picture of Arnie around there somewhere.

"why concern ourselves with obvious race-baiting?"Because this site wouldn`t be as entertaining without all the troll bait. At least it`s better than one of the half dozen "religion is stupid" posts every day. Those are like beating a dead horse`s bones until nothing is left but dust.

omg. stop. this needs to stop. the more we talk about stupid shiz like this, the more power we give to it. there are plenty of ACTUAL racist things out there that need to be dealt with, why concern ourselves with obvious race-baiting? like someone WANTS you to cry "racist". just stop.

Yeah skullgrin - only in America can a perfunctory attempt to be ethnically inclusive result in accusations of racist undertones, regardless of context.

um..the three women in the front are all "Afters"

however if they reversed the order of the women people would cry racist due to the the quote saying "beautiful skin from the most unexpected places" implying black people having beautiful skin is unexpected.

god talk about reading between the lines! they`re all standing infront representing the "amazing results" achieved by the product, making it generally obvious to the reader that it "doesnt matter what skin you have" it will make it look moisturised and smooth, seeing as this isnt the general rule when it comes to several beauty products, such as hair products etc. all 3 women look beautiful and happy, this is how the company is representing itself, people who can only see a play for white supremacy make me sad and feel evolution is going backwards :(

Mabe the Dove advertisers didn`t realize that there were so many stupid people out there that would read something into it, other than the obvious point of the ad.

Enjin-"They are trying to market to black people who would like to be white?"

Someone should have told Michael Jackson about Dove...would have save a boatload of money on Plastic Surgery.

This says much more about the hang-ups of the person who `finds` racism in this ad than the people who designed it.

I can guarantee you that this ad was the work of multiple people, a team.

There`s nothing racist about this ad, or the team who created it, or of Dove.

There IS, on the other hand, serious problems with someone who would look at this and say `Let`s find something racist in this ad so that we can be `offended`.` Their next step usually involves threatened protest in order to blackmail the ad agencey, Dove and probably the magazine it appeared in to give them money.

Attention, People Who State the Obvious:
Yes, this is certainly an oversight and not intentional. It is, nevertheless, darkly funny and it is very surprising that the producers missed the implication.
Does that cover most of the comments?
