"The "Rich" make up 75% of income taxes in the U.S. but they own 90% of the wealth... the middle class has to make up the missing 15% and are overtaxed."

Jerry, you need to stop listening to liberal propaganda. Wealth =/= Income. The top tax bracket ("the rich") earn about 20% of the income (not 90%), and pay something like 40% of the taxes.

The 90% figure refers to the value of the capital they own, ie, businesses, stocks etc. It`s not like they have that much spending money (or anything close to it). Capital isn`t something you can just tax, nor does it directly improve the quality of your life. If they tried to liquidate all that wealth (to pay a tax, for example), the value of it would drop to next to nothing. After all, who would be left with enough money to buy it at it`s current value?

"Make them pay 50% and we wouldn`t be discussing the cost of grandmas medicare."

Do you just make poo up on the spot? Try some basic math:

Top bracket total income = ~$3 Trillion/year
Raising top bracket by 15% = ~$400 Billion/year
Current Federal deficit = ~$1.5 Trillion/year

You`re about $1.1 trillion/year short. Plus, you can`t even raise taxes on somebody over 60% because you`ll hit the peak of the Laffer curve, and your total revenues will start to fall off. If you tax the top bracket at 50%, that`s right at 60% once you figure state and local.

It`s impossible cover our entitlement spending by taxing the rich.

So all that talk of "tax loopholes" is just a distraction: socialists want YOUR money! The top half of US taxpayers already pays 97% of all Fed Tax revenue, period! This is after all those "loop holes" eh?

How about: lowering spending! Crazy talk!
How about: NOT adding 800 billion to the deficit with Obamacare! Oh noes, Obamacare `saves money`! lolz!

12 budlights could easily cost 9 bucks a pop at a high class bar. Personally, that`s probably a bargain considering that I pay 7.50 for a budlight at my local baseball stadium.

If that were true, the red bull and other cheap drinks would be practically free. It is overpriced, but even if you factored it down by 10 the total is still significant.

I think this was a lump order for some high roller party.

Why argue about how much money should be forcibly taken away from citizens, when you can just eliminate the income tax and force the government to reduce its size and increase its efficiency?

the "50%" tax bracket is a myth.
Yes, it starts at 50% but by the time you take away the deductions only available to the rich, it`s far, far less.

Male 38,491

I don`t think we should penalize people for being successful and taxing them more than other people.

But I do believe EVERYONE should pay the same percentage of tax.

The "Rich" make up 75% of income taxes in the U.S. but they own 90% of the wealth... the middle class has to make up the missing 15% and are overtaxed.

No more deductions and tax breaks. Flat Tax for All. You can`t say it`s not fair if we all pay the same.

"If the top tax bracket ends at $350k Why should everything else they earn be tax free?"

That isn`t how it works. Everyone above 350k gets taxed at the highest rate on all of their income. It isn`t that only 350k of it gets taxed.

"Would Donald Trump be a billionaire had he not inherited his fathers fortune?"

His father worked for that fortune, and he passed it on to his son. Most people strive to earn a fortune so that they can provide their children with a better life than they had.

"Because republicans speak of "loop-holes" as if they are a right."

This is not a Republican/Democrat issue. Jeffrey Immelt, a liberal and one of Obama`s best buds, runs GE, which pays $0 in taxes every year... despite being a multi-billion dollar corporation. In fact, GE gets a net tax credit.

I doubt they "work harder". They may have skill sets that have helped them in life but luck goes a long way and shouldn`t be discounted. Would Donald Trump be a billionaire had he not inherited his fathers fortune? We`ll never know but I`m guessing No.
Besides my point is paying their fair share. If the top tax bracket ends at $350k Why should everything else they earn be tax free? We have people in this country that make in excess of $100 mil a year but only a fraction of their income is taxed. Tell me how that`s fair?

I think we`re on the same page RETARDEDBEAR (if that`s your real name). A Flat tax makes the most sense but will never be a reality because rich people pay lobbyists to fight against being treated like a common man.

$12840.53 in tax! LOLZ!

Oh, @Oldfrt makes an excellent observation: might not be in US dollars, eh? Even if it was 8:1 (that sounds about right, a buck for a beer) it`s still a $20K bar tab!

"Make them pay 50% and we wouldn`t be discussing the cost of grandmas medicare."

Yeah, and you`d also have people who are giving the government far more than they are actually keeping. That includes business owners and entrepreneurs. Not all rich people blow their money on Cristal, some of them actually run the businesses that keep our economy running.

Yes, rich people and corporations take advantage of loopholes. How about instead of taxing everyone more, including those who DON`T take advantage of loopholes, we close the loopholes? If you raise the tax rate and don`t close the loopholes, you can only hurt the honest ones.

"Is fair-play a "liberal" equation?"

The tax brackets go by percentages. By the time you get to 350k a year, you are being taxed on almost 50% of your income in combined taxes. That means if you make $20 mil, almost $10 mil is going right to state and federal government. In contrast, poor people don`t pay taxes, but instead are actually given tax credits.

If you want fair, give everybody the same tax rate.

Actually if the rich were taxed at the same rates as the poor their wouldn`t be calls for taxing them. As it stand now our tax brackets stop at $350k a year. That leaves all the millionaire / billionaires on easy street so they can afford lobbyists to make their tax burdens even less. Is fair-play a "liberal" equation?
...which country uses english on their bills and has: 1) a place where you can get all this and 2) has a currency so weak to explain the prices for you ?
Well, speaking from personal experience, Most all of my receipts while in Hong Kong were in English, I could easily find any of the items listed, and the exchange rate at the time was about 7.7 $HK to 1 $US. Not sayin this receipt is from HK, but there are still a LOT of different currencies this could be in.

Oh BTW, the weakness or strength of a currency has nothing to do with how close it is to a 1:1 ration with a euro, dollar or any other currency. It`s just an exchange rate.
