Ok, she`s such a "good Christian" she tries to commit murder and suicide (which Christians believe incorrectly to be an unforgivable, mortal sin)? No, she`s not a Christian, she`s a lunatic. There is a difference.

Also, if she`d ever read Revelations, she`d see that in the time of the Tribulation, according to Revelation 9:6:
And in those days shall men seek DEATH, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and DEATH shall flee from them.

So, if she believed in the Tribulation, she should have known suicide was pointless.

"I think you`re missing what I was trying to accomplish, here"

First off, LMFAO that you are trying to "accomplish" something here at IAB that`s EPIC! Secondly, I don`t think we`re missing anything at all! I mean, you`re trying to stereotype all Christians as mindless nut bags so that you can feel superior to them, smarter, and like you`re the "Lord" of the message boards right?

Anywho, I`m off to the beach today. Another time losers!

The reporter clearly said @ aprox 1.10 that she took them all to a friends house and the friend came home early & called 911

Well, Birdfather, obviously you`re correct. But, you`re the final authority on the subject, correct? You have interpreted what is said in the book and appointed yourself judge of who is and who isn`t christian, isn`t that so?

Then why need a rapture in the first place? What is the point of a day of judgment? No need for 7 seals, 4 horsemen, the tribulation, or Armageddon. YOU are the judge of who is worthy of the kingdom of heaven - who is a real christian and who is not.

Good news everyone! No more need for all these pesky religious wars and terrorism. Forget going to church or trying to legislate 4000 year old dogma into modern laws. Everyone can relax, now. Birdfather`s got it handled!

That slippery slope just gets steeper and steeper doesn`t it, BF?

@Davy, I`ll take the compliment but I think you`re missing what I was trying to accomplish, here. Cheers.

Anyway, isn`t murder a capital sin? It doesn`t say in the video if she is religious or not but, if she is, she wouldn`t make it to heaven after killing her children. Completely mentally ill.

Well, it is easy, it`s religious stupid people
(Most of them anyway) who can`t possibly think about
living in peace with other religions/people

It seems like something we all should comprehend, but
secular mindsets aren`t universal, you can`t make a
religious people think like you... There are some people
who might want to use their brains and put themselves on
other people`s shoes, but lets face it, there aren`t that many

It`s not fair that us non believers should be burdened with having to make the distinction that crazy religious nutjubs don`t represent all of a particular religion.

I wish I didn`t have to take 2 seconds to make that acknowledgement, but I do. After all, if there was no religion, I wouldn`t need to make it. The world is cruel.

Rest assured though that it is a temporary measure, and there are greater injustices in this world that most of us must endure.

So let`s suck it up and exist peacefully alongside the unfortunately numerous religious moderates, until this whole thing blows over...

no sane person would do this in any circumstance...
BUT... She didn`t do it before "The rapture", their
neighbors said she was a nice person, etc, etc...

Remember, "Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." - Steven Weinberg

Oh, come on you guys. I`m an atheist and also an outspoken anti-theist (growing up in Northern Ireland, where slightly different brands of Christians are murdering each other, will do that to you).

This isn`t about Christianity vs atheism, this is about an insane woman. She is clearly mental, whether she`s Christian or not, she would have done the same thing. And f*ck the media for making this into a "rapture" story. She`s sick in the head, and she`d still be sick in the head whether she was a Christian or not.

LJ, I like your posts and please keep them coming, but I think you`re off the mark on this one.

@Lord_Jereth

By your logic all Atheists would murder tens of millions of people because Stalin was an Atheist and all Atheists are the same.

For every person that does something like this, there are millions that have not. Funny that you should mention being on a high horse. As for whether or not they are real Christians, Birdfather merely said they do not represent Christianity, and their actions were counter to what Christianity is about. And as for God failing, no He said this would happen more than once:

Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Mat 24:5 For many will come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and will deceive many.

Mat 24:11 And many false prophets will rise, and will deceive many.

Mat 24:23 Then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

Sorry ladies, I`ve been to the puppet show and seen the strings. I calls `em as I see`s `em. Christians are christians of any stripe. Birdfather`s claim of them not being christians simply because they don`t believe as he does is so typical of his ilk. In fact, he says that these people represent the opposite of christians, which I assume means they are minions of satan.

In the end he got up on his sanctimonious high horse and made himself guilty of JUDGING them by his own arbitrary standards. If they don`t believe exactly as he does, they`re not "real" christians.

It just strikes me funny that anything that a christian either can`t understand, can`t shoehorn into their own philosophy, can`t control or can`t destroy is somehow always "of the devil." That guy sure gets around.

Make excuses for him if you want. That`s your prerogative. But don`t expect me to buy into the delusion or agree with it.

@Lord_Jereth Man you`re kind of an ass-hat yourself actually! There are a lot of people, I assume like Birdfather, who have lived as Christian`s their entire life without behaving like this woman. It`s how they were raised. Why should they suddenly have to stop, give up their beliefs, or change because a bunch of newly organized retards?

I`m as non-christian as they come, and I loathe the catholic church, but you know what? My Mom goes to church (protestant) occasionally on the holidays, thinks that Jesus was real, and she wouldn`t try to stab me! She also isn`t homophobic or a creationist.

Don`t lump everyone into one category. Being a Christian isn`t just about believing in Jesus and "spreading the word". It`s about old ladies putting on fancy clothes, baking food, coming to see people you know, sending your neighbor a prayer when they`re in the hospital, and singing in groups to bad organ music. Okay? Jesus.

@Lord Jareth- For someone who calls themselves a "lord" you`re quite judgmental and condescending. I don`t believe in the bible or god. I`m baffled by the notion of a deity that takes attendance. But I can wholly understand why many people need something higher than themselves to believe in. With today`s tragedies and flagrant displays of such, who can blame anyone for wishing there was something better out there than us? Sometimes I wish I could believe that an almighty being controlled the universe and had a set plan for me. However, I know in depth how vast the universe is, and the sequence of happy accidents that created the world we know, and I don`t believe in Santa Claus either. But I would never tell anyone they couldn`t have hope. Would you group people who study murder in with people who commit murder?

It`s unfortunate what this woman did, and clear she has a few screws loose. But I can understand her fear considering how much tragedy is blasted over mainst

@danthew- No, most problems with Christians come from believing that The Bible is actually the literal Word of God to begin with.

Male 2,121
@yoda141 That argument is why the church has split into so many different denominations. If they make our team look bad we`ll have a different team, still Christian but not the same as them. And the splitting of the church into so many different denominations is what allows extreme views to flourish.

Most stupidity with Christians comes from not taking the entire bible into account when forming views. The bible makes it pretty clear that no-one will know when the apocalypse will be, that it`ll come "like a thief in the night", but still some Christians will ignore it and claim a date, leaving the entire religion open to ridicule. The same can be said for pretty much every extreme Christian view.

"Everyone assumes that all the nutjobs about there represent Christianity. It`s not true, they represent the opposite. Terrible that this happened."

Yeah, you just keep telling yourself that. Maybe some day, deep in your heart, you`ll believe it. As for the rest of us, I think you`ll have a tougher time.

As a believer, of course you`re going to want to distance yourself from these folks. You don`t want to be called out for your misplaced faith. These people didn`t believe as you do. They weren`t "real" christians, like you. Right?

News Flash:

Just because you deny it, doesn`t make it untrue. Just because you don`t want to be associated with these ass-hats doesn`t mean you`re not one of the delusional.

Either he missed the bus and couldn`t take his show on the road or he failed to stop the tragedy. One way or another, your `god` failed yesterday. Deal with it.

I am too, but these guys are christians, and they are large in numbers, so how can that represent non-christianity? you can`t claim guys don`t belong to your team just because it`d make your team look bad. Your team is bad, get over it, welcome to rationality.
