...and now every little fat, snotty pre-teen will think she`ll get skinny again just by wearing some damn ugly chunky shoes. Awesome.

marketing to kids blah blah blah

little girls like to do what mommy does, play dress up and wear nail polish.

It`s not like it`s a padded bra or anything

Why is this considered controversial? O_o
It basically says "Wearing these shoes makes you look good".

It`s just like every other clothing add ever.

i dont see the problem with this...i mean are they trying to say we want our kids to grow up, become young obese adults, then have to buy shape ups because they dont understand the concept of exersise then its ok to use these shoes because theres now something to worry about

i think that advers perfectly suitible, its encouraging young girls to put on their trainers and move, no mention of getting a nice butt, like it says at the end "stay fit...have fun..." we should be promoting this to kits more often, i know if an advert like this was on when i was younger i may have a healthier attitude to excersise.

In Ireland these shoes are called `runners`. Elsewhere they are called `trainers`. These names should be banned because they may make children feel guilty for sitting on their fat little arses watching tv instead of going outside and running around for a while

It`s important for a woman to have a nice butt. Look at the post from yesterday where everybody tore that woman a new behind for having a front butt. Can you show disgust for her and be angry with Sketchers?

How on earth is THIS controversial???? If anything the little porkers of the world (not just America)need as much help as they can! Although it`s going to take more than some height inducing to get the ball rolling. Do whatever it takes to promote healthier kids!

Pu-leeze. I think Olive hit it right on. American parents don`t want to look at the hard truth, so they point the finger elsewhere. Tell your overweight kid to get off the couch, and, hey... why not set a good example and do it yourself! While you`re at it (Mom OR Dad) cook a real meal.

So because the cartoons are skinny, it`s message is children should be toothpicks? I doubt it.

I really don`t get it, it just looks like another ad aimed at kids. At least they not are all freaky like brats.

    1. Shape ups don`t do anything.
    2. Who cares? The parents making a deal over this are idiots. Shape ups may not do anything, but at least it helps to bring awareness to physical fitness to children. It is NOT ok to be obese.

Kinda off topic, but you`d think they`d actually animate the damn commercial better and not use this God-forsaken animesque style that all people want to f`ing use nowadays. If you`re gonna resort to this atrocious scheme, at least have the decency to freaking get the style right.

I cant believe you people. I think its so weird to have these shoes for girls. One of the main points the regular shape up ads make is the shoe will tone your butt.

So its like someone was sitting around and thinking "you know who could use a nice ass? 10 year old girls"

It would be fine if it were about fitness, but those shoes are supposedly to make you have a nice ass and legs.

These shoes are not about being healthy, they are about toning your legs and butt. Heres one of the adult commercials, called "love your butt" =UU5nyXgYR2Q&feature=relmfu

Kids arent stupid, they know what those shoes are for, and its not for normal excercise. For gods sake the tagline of the shoes is "make your bottom half your better half"

Being healthy is one thing, but a little girl doesn`t need to TONE anything.
