I live near a Police Dog grave yard... very moving to see pomp and circumstance to a k-9`s burial.

just digging a hole would be enough. I wouldnot mind me being burried the same way.

@bongsmoka420- I would assume so by your name. Too many bad encounters, I`m guessing?

love from a dog or any animal is not uncondtional, it is conditional on feeding and care, just like a baby. a baby doesn`t love you, anymore than a dog does, when you dont feed it.

Pets cost so much nowadays, for shots and sh*t, like hell am I paying for a coffin. And I sure as hell don`t want my tax dollars buying one for a lousy snitch!

the only time I would weep for a cop would be for a dog. the human officers don`t even count as people to me.

Hitler was a dog lover. The nazis had strict laws against animal cruelty, especially dogs.
They treated their animals better than they treated their fellow man.

In many jurisdictions the intentional injuring or killing of a police dog is a felony, subjecting the perpetrator to harsher penalties than those in the statutes embodied in local animal cruelty laws, just as an assault on a human police officer is often a more serious offense than the same assault on a non-officer. A growing number of law-enforcement organizations outfit dogs with ballistic vests, and some make the dogs sworn officers, with their own police badges and IDs. Furthermore, a police dog killed in the line of duty is often given a full police funeral.

Differant states, differant laws and penalties. But overall, you get much harsher treatment.

I love dogs. But they are property, not people. Keep perspective.

This made me think of Turner & Hooch :`( Anyway, I think it`s a sweet - dogs are pure - unconditional love and loyalty.

Ok... Time for a lawyer to jump in again.

A police dog is an extension of a police officer, so you can get charged with assaulting a police officer for harming a police dog. This is the same as if you do anything to a police horse, or, believe it or not, a police car, if the cop is in the car. You can also be charged with destruction of property, animal cruelty, etc.

You cannot be charged with the death of a police officer if you kill a police dog. They are not "police officers," that is simply ridiculous. They do not have statutory powers of arrest, they have no rank, and they are... dogs.

You may now return to your inane conversations.

@ Student_Law - Yes, harming or killing a police dog you get charged with Asualting a Police Officer or Homocide/Murder of a Police Officer. Same as a human. Which is a rediculous charge.
It should be something like Destroying City Property or something...

@Student_Law - "In theory and practically, it means that the life of a criminal, still human being though, is less valued than a canine. No wonder people are killing each other off on a large scale, if this is the philosophy."

No it means that a police dog is considered a police officer, by title, duty and profession. The law states that X penalty is applied for doing Y crime against a police officer. This has absolutely jack poo to do with valuing a person less than a dog.

"killing one gets you the same penalty as killing a REAL human cop, but in the real world, not the world of law, they are just dogs"

WTF?! You get a murder sentence for killing a police dog?! In Norway you can be charged for assault on a public servant if you attack a dog that is in duty. But that`s as far as it goes. You can`t go to jail for 21 years for killing a dog!!! That is a tremendeous washing away of the value of a human life.

In theory and practically, it means that the life of a criminal, still human being though, is less valued than a canine. No wonder people are killing each other off on a large scale, if this is the philosophy.

I would... but dogs don`t speak english so . . .

I`m gonna be polite and close this window and walk away from my computer before I start laughing.

they know sic em, so go ahead and laugh when they are chewing on you and wont let go till their partner the human cop says so, but he`d have to wait till after he tells you about the time the dog helped sniff out an armed fugitive, or a coke cartel, find a lost person, or even help bring down a crook who attacked him. but yeah their just dumb mutts they don`t deserve to have someone feel bad for them when they go down. they should save that for some caring soul like you.B-|

I`ve known a lot of good dogs, but for some reason when they put that badge on, they become a$$holes.

BTW, I have never understood ,...

1) How they get away with a `cop` being allowed
to bite and scratch you,
2) If they kill YOUR dog it`s an accepted part of
a lawful arrest, but if you kill THEIR dog,
it`s a cop and a member of the family.

I guess I`m worse than hitler.

wait! No.

The tiniest shrivel of emotion briefly came to life and then died in the blackest portion of my heart. I did feel something.

It`s gone now. I don`t know what it was, it was either sadness at the death of some dog or humor that they would pay for such an elaborate dog coffin.

"Those that don`t have these wonderful animals in their lives just don`t understand."

i have a dog :|

im not denying the fact that this is sad. it IS sad...for the people who lost the dog. this picture has no reason to be on this site :| just because you are sad doesn`t meant that we have to be and it doesn`t mean that we have to care.

<Insert "oh but they are like family. what if you lost your family" argument>

i`ve lost 3 uncles 1 aunt 1 great aunt and my grandfather has cancer...ive not cried for any of my family members because my Christian beliefs tell me that they are in a better place than here on earth now. if im not going to cry or mourn for my family im sure as hell not going to do it for my drating dog...

and back at Gecko...that conversation wasn`t even about LISTENING to the music...please re read my earlier post so that i can give a proper response.

this dog would go into a feral rage and attack the man holding a gun to your head without any hesitation if ordered to do so. it never would taser people who have broken tail lights or force women into painful armbars for arguing with them. all it ever did was love and save human lives. thats why its sad

its sad because these dogs are cops, and like cops they put their lives on the line to protect us and their people. some will argue that they are just animals trained to do so, but that doesn`t change the fact that without them fighting crime or fighting war would be a lot harder, and at the very least we should show a little appreciation for them like we do their human counter parts.
