@Fleaman1797 - "they really take the word of one man WAY to seriously"

Isn`t that pretty much the whole religion thing in a can, anyway? I`m surprised the irony didn`t just jump up and smack you in the head while you were typing it.

LOL

"I know a lot of atheists that are semi-confident that there is no god. But they always have that nagging thought, what if I`m wrong?"

----

Ah, but then that brings up the whole argument of "which god are we talking about here?"

I think Richard Dawkins answered that question beautifully some time ago...

I`m holding out for that Mayan thing next year. I`m getting a little burned out with the doom and gloom crowd.

The whole point of the rapture was not knowing when it was going to happen. I only have that nagging sense because you really don`t know if it`s going to happen, but judging from past experiences... y2k, bird flu, swine flu, this up coming rapture probably and I`m looking forward to 2012.

I like how lots of people are semi confident that something is going to happen, but they always have that thought that nags them to say.. you know nothing`s going to happen right?

I think it would be hilarious if we found out the rapture actually happened 20-odd years ago.

The good news is that if the Rapture happens tomorrow, there will be a lot of new job openings on Monday. Unemployment: Solved!

"So how does that work since it won`t be the 21st all at once for everybody?"

I was listening to Michael Medved today and he had one of tghe guys from the church esposuing this idea on the show. he said it would go by time zones and it would start at 6pm GMT. So those of us in the USA should get plenty of advance warning if thi sturns out to be real (which I personally do not believe it will happen)

If the calculations came from the genealogy of the Book of Genesis, how did Genesis prophesy our modern calender?

Oh come on flingspoo, god may be omnipotent, but he can`t lift everyone at once. By the time he`s hoovered up Huntington, the big mans gonna be knackered.

If you had choose, regardless of your beliefs, who would you believe: Bible scripture, written by a disciple of Jesus, or some preacher who said God told him how to decipher Genesis to arrive at tomorrows date?

I might listen to the Family Radio station tomorrow to see how they react when the rapture doesn`t come. The FAQs on their site are hilarious!

I honestly don`t know how many people think the rapture is tomorrow. I think it is a few people who arbitrarily picked a date. I`m a Christian and I think it is preposterous.

I kind of want the rapture to happen, if only for the fact that I want some peace and quiet.

how has this "prediction" been blown up to be so big? haven`t there been hundreds of predictions from random religions about the end of the world and they are always wrong? what about this one has gotten everyone so worked up?
