I was just going to say what Quackor said.

Yeah, if they were furry, cuddly and looked exactly like a kitty, then they would be perfect.

@robswindol, whats the point of living an extended period of time /with/ your head?

Books in the form of roosterroach DNA; that`s the most awesome but probably useless idea ever.

I admire its purity. A survivor... unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality.

What`s the benefit of living an extended period of time with no head?

Eww, they have to give me a reason for them running towards you instead of running away, I panic when they do that, specially if it`s flying.

@Sh0rtEe:

It`s 50 body lengths of itself, not 50 of a human.

That`s all well and good, but I`m still killing them should they show up in this house.

They haven`t, but my animosity remains.

I liked the last bit. We`ll use them for our own ends. Muahaha.

Well they have just lived too long. Time to go extinct. It`s our species turn to be the roosterroach.

i wasn`t alluding to whether the dna thing was possible or not, just that what would be the consequences should it go horribly wrong,
remember the whole Africanized bee incident. messing around with roach dna just doesnt sound like a wise idea.

Still like rats better, but gotta give it up for the roach, as long as it doesn`t craw into any of my body parts. Anybody remember Joes Apartment? I liked the show better than the movie.

the dna thing isnt that impossible, 90% of dna is "junk" so we could use it

I personally don`t think that using the DNA as a way of "archiving history" is impossible, however, like jinxiejae, i doubt it will be a good idea for 2 main reasons (or at least 2 that i could come up with on the spot).
1) in order to archive our achievements we would have to come up with a new language consisting of only 4 letters, A,T,G, and C, which would practicably be useless for anything else. If this language IS created, then a "Rosetta stone" would need to be created for future generations to be able to decode, it (DUH).
2) Yes, the majority of every beings DNA is "trash", however that doesn`t mean that this "trash" isn`t affected like the "useful" DNA. I`m sure that deletions, insertions, duplication of segments etc , as well as rearrangements due to crossing over and the such(sorry my genetics is rusty) occur as readily, or perhaps even more so due to the "trash" DNA being more abundant, than in useful DNA

@urbanlegend
not really, you just avoid the parts the roosterroach actually uses. you have plenty of garbage DNA too

"that whole dna encoding thing. i don`t think that`s going to be a good idea. "

What if that`s what our mass of unused DNA is? And we simply lack the code/cipher to decipher it...
