Hey You! What Song are you Listening to?

Submitted by: kitteh9lives 5 years ago Entertainment

Ty Cullen went to Times Square and asked random people what song they were playing, giving us this great mix of music.

This was a great idea, but I`d be embarrassed to be asked the question as the weirdest song I have to have on my playlist is... "The Nations of the World by Yakko Warner". (I can`t believe I admitted that).

@PinkHomicide

It`s not that strange. I don`t really know the name of most songs I listen too. Artists yes but name of the songs only some.

I have always wanted to do this, walk round Sydney CBD and ask people exactly what is on their ipod at that moment.

@flashpacker: I totally concur. he actually looked like one of my history teachers from high school, Mr. Schagrin. He WAS a total douchebag.
I got in trouble for calling him a buttknocker. lol

I found it rather amusing when that one goofy ass muthafawker was listening to "lollipop" by lil` wayne, and also at the predictability of the rastaman.

Would like to point out that much of this was not shot in Times Square... Bryant Park and Madison Square Park were very prevalent.

So the moral of the story is, New Yorkers listen to a LOT of crap music. This might be worth a damn if he filmed it in New Orleans or Seattle.

"(I know, I know...it`s definitely not all pop in the narrow sense and Britney and Korn are 2 very different genres. But pop in a general post Beatles oeuvre sort of way.)"

One guy was listening to The Black Keys, or are they still too mainstream for you?

I must say, I was a little surprised; no classical, no folk/bluegrass/gospel, no showtunes. Other than Sinatra and NPR, it was all loosely sort of pop. (I know, I know...it`s definitely not all pop in the narrow sense and Britney and Korn are 2 very different genres. But pop in a general post Beatles oeuvre sort of way.)

This is so cool. I love all kinds of music and I have a lot of guilty pleasures on my Zune. But I would be honest and tell him what I was listening to.

I dunno about you guys, but if some random person came up to me and asked this, I wouldn`t truthfully tell him I`mlistening to Just Dance..or, more likely for me, Evacuate the Dancefloor. hahahaa.

@dmoltrup

If you see someone pointing a camera at you asking you a question, not 100% of the people with headphones will ignore you, and as you can see, his success rate was not 100%.

There would have had to be some way of getting their attention. Times Square is full of people trying to sell tickets to comedy shows, Ripley`s Believe it or not, City tour buses, people selling CDs, the churchgoers, etc.. People wear headphones just to avoid all that, then walk around like zombies.

That was pretty cool actually. I`m kind of surprised at how many people just ignored him.

I wonder if he had a sign asking the question, it seemed like some people were reading something
