@SiN_iN_Me: the "Council House and Violent" Theory is actually a backronym for chav and one of many urban legends about where the word originated. There are theories stating it came from the Kent town Chatham, or the Romani word "chavi" meaning child etc, noone knows for certain where it came from but all the acronyms were created after it was coined. Also, the UK equivalent to Nautica is probably Burberry, a popular brand now associated almost exclusively with chavs

Lads are of various age usually male but also females, who tend to hang around large shoppings centres or train stations in Sydney. More commonly could be described as the Australian version of British chav.

They appear to be destinctly defined wearing:
- White Nautica Cap
- Striped Polo Shirt (Nautica etc)
- Sport Shorts (Nautica)

Basically giving brands Nautica and Canterbury a bad name for delinquent wearers. They appear to be loud and confronting in large groups of followers who usually range from 10 - 20 +, and appear to have a bogan like appearance. Although they try to be tough, they are actually pansies at heart.

Can be described as "Eshay Lads" also, and seen inhabiting areas such as Train Stations,Bus Shelters,Taxi Ranks,Outside Major Shopping Centres and Street Corners.

Mostly found in Sydney`s West (Penrith,Parramatta)
and can be found in a range of nationalities.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chav

A chav (pronounced /ˈtʃæv/ chav) is a stereotype of certain people in the United Kingdom. Also known as a charver in Yorkshire and North East England[1] "chavs" are said to be aggressive teenagers, of working class background, who repeatedly engage in anti-social behaviour such as street drinking, drug abuse and rowdiness, or other forms of juvenile delinquency.[2]

That seems a bit... bigoted. Change the sign to "blacks" or "muslims" and then this would be a rather larger issue.
