@honkeylips: It was a folded flag. Someone died (probably military) and they folded a flag to commemorate.

I like how they make it seem like the perfectly unsoiled American flag happened to fall right at that point at 1:40.

I live around this area and luckily my apartment wasn`t touched. There is a benefit singing on June 4th at 10 AM Ft. Payne VFW fairgrounds it`s called Voices for Dekalb. Please check into it on facebook.

student_law:

sad to say it but most of the movie was shot in and around savannah, ga. Absolutely gorgeous city, but forrest gump is a wonderful movie about a good hearted bama boy either way.

My heart goes out to the people who were affected by those tornados.

@Student Law: Yeah, people always refer to "Forrest Gump" when they think of Alabama. Part of me thinks it`s a curse, but at least it`s a good movie hahaha.

Very sad. I travelled through parts of Alabama, from Tennessee, through Birmingham, Auburn, Mobile. In the summer. Beautiful place, great friendly people too.

I think i`ve seen the movie Forrest Gump 20 times because of it`s wonderful scenery shots and "Alabama mood". My friends there haven`t been affected by it.

@Gerry: The way it was shot, and the music.

That one shot of the cross overlooking all that destruction too. Striking.

I was very, very lucky. I saw video of a tornado that was no more than a mile from my house. Sadly, many people around me lost their homes and members of their families. I think I speak for everyone who suffered through this natural disaster when I say thank you, anyone, for any help you have given to this ravaged area.

Yeah luckily the city I live in (Leeds) suffered minimal damage, but several people I know lost homes. If anyone could do anything to help, they would really appreciate it.
