    I dunno the way I understood this story it seems like they were using the marijuana to combat the side effects of chemotherapy. Wouldn`t the operation and chemo be what actually "saved" him? The pot just eased the pain right? Never heard of pot curing cancer, that would probably be big news.

    Assuming I understood this correctly it seems like a really tough call. Obviously you want to ease your child`s suffering but at the same time giving him marijuana at the age when his brain is supposed to absorbing information very quickly could be harmful in the long run.

    Medicinal use of marijuana is a very legitimate thing and definitely should be in place. But it does seem to be one of the main reasons non-medicinal users argue for it`s legalization.

    However, I wonder what the potheads` argument is gonna be when marijuana that doesn`t get you high becomes widely available.

    So, this lady `believes` it`s harmful...that doesn`t make it fact. I believe god does not exist, but that doesn`t make it fact. Sounds like she`d rather see a child on massive doses of chemo, lose their hair, not eat, kill their immune system, and be genuinely miserable rather than stoned and somewhat blissful...bitch.

    Sathon-

    As a pothead, I support medical marijuana entirely Hell, even if I didn`t toke, I`d still support it. It makes the most sense, and it the most logical thing, to medically legalize it. I don`t care if it doesn`t get people high, it`s still a nearly miraculous drug, and the safest.
    As for getting blazed, I personally don`t care, because no matter what, I`ll still be able to get my hands on some nice, stinky buds. Not worried.

    I don`t get why people want to take the fun out of a medicine you can actually have fun taking. What is the logical argument for having Marijuana minus the intoxication element?

    I speak as a 16 year old that is battling cancer. Right at this very moment Im in the hospital receiving chemotherapy. my side effects have not been bad so far. all except the nausea. the meds they giver me for nausea BARELY work. we live in illinois so my doctor cant perscribe medical marijuana. but speaking first hand i would rather be at home stoned countering the nausea AND giving me the munchies. becaseu unless they have you on steroids you have no appetite for a few days after. id take anything as long as it stops this horrible nausea. the drugs they already have me on dont work. and not to mention have horrible side effects

    Because Americans are not allowed to have any enjoyment. We are to work and pay tribute to the rich and elitist politicians until we drop dead.

    Freak yeah I get ticked on this subject. Best pain reliever on the planet. Better than analgesics such as acetaminophen. Better than Valium or Prozac. Freak even the material for clothing is better. Especially if you live in the tropics where mold grows rampant. Can use it for fuel also. It`s better than using corn. Freaking Chemical industrialists got everybody conned.

    We have pharmacuticals freely and abundant that we destroy because we call them weeds. Dandelions come to mind? Excellent for lowering diabetic blood sugars, but oh no we use `RounUp" for that. The same that`s implanted in GM foods. Yeah I`ll have that dose of insecticide please for dinner.

    Marijuana should be legal, period. I NEVER touched until I was 35 years and was STAUNCHLY against it up til then. A friend finally convinced me to try it. It was great and IT IS NOT the evil drug people try to convince you it is. Incidentally, I don`t drink, do ANY illegal drugs or smoke cigarettes. So gateway these nutz.

    I severely disagree with the woman at the end. To describe why she doesn`t like marijuana she first uses "I believe.." and then "It is our opinion that.." So they base their discrimination on marijuana and it`s users on a marijuana hate belief system.

    Seriously? Marijuana keeps people from concentrating? Obviously the woman has NEVER tried it. Because you know, having never tried it, one can totally say without a doubt what the effects are.

    @Keith2

    Isn`t it obvious? We can believe everything the government tell us about marijuana because the government is always right! From now on, we should all learn to blindly accept anything that our government tells us.

    But in all seriousness, the only people that advocate marijuana prohibition are either uninformed or have simply chosen to disregard any or all of the facts about marijuana that quite literally smack prohibition in the face.

    Hey Brandy, you know what is worse for a child`s brain development than weed? A drating tumor.

    Sometimes not using drugs is more cruel and harmful than using them. For example, if the only painkiller available is heroin (the worst possible drug you can put into your body), wouldn`t you still give it to someone who is in deathly excruciating pain?

    Sorry for the double post

    @HeadiesRush

    I agree to an extent. It should be kept out of the hands of minors. Same as alcohol. Even if it is a mild drug that is not inherently addictive, studies have shown it can cause anxiety or hasten schizophrenia and irresponsible people can ruin their lives and the lives of people around them. Teenagers do not have the experience and maturity to handle marijuana responsibly.
