A world winning Goldberg machine that goes from `Medieval era` to World War 2? I don`t think so...

Euro-centric history of the world, FTW.

(But, I have to ask how bad was the 2nd place finisher?)

isn`t the whole concept behind a rube goldberg is that it`s a complicated machine to do a simple task? i never saw it.

the concept was pretty cool

The filming didn`t cut it, I`m not at all convinced by the use of electrics the observer can`t see the workings of... so, uhm, not that good, imo. I like Honda`s Goldberg a lot better. Even though it had to be made in two takes (but the two are beautifully meshed), it was done without CGI and without electronics you were not exactly sure of for which movements they were responsible.

Isn`t one of the rules of a Goldberg Machine is that it`s to be shot in one continuous video...?

I`ve seen better, to many electronic parts, doesn`t seem to fit the idea of a Rube Goldberg machine.

Great concept though, i`ve seen curtains open and chess being played but never the history of the world told in a concise way.

Meh,. some parts were Rube goldberg like, but the whole machine itself was not.

Some cool stuff in there; I dug the zigzag pendulum drop thingy. But the filming kinda killed the whole domino effect as it was so tight and made it feel like individual bits instead of a whole machine.

@fleaman1797 oh grow the drat up.. stop thinking you and the human race is the drating center of the universe. Reality check moron, YOUR life is drating nothing whether you like it or not. and stop being a drating hypocrite, if you know we`re all smart, i mean atheists, then why the drat do you post that stupidass comment in the first place?

That`s some pretty shoddy craftsmanship.I thought it was going to explode or set fire. What record did it break... the I-Can`t-Believe-It-Worked category?

Btw, people who use electricity in these projects are cheaters.

Hooray for yet another incredibly incomplete version of history. I mean its not like anything happened OUTSIDE of Europe and the west during the entire course of human development, right? The history is taught in western schools and covered in the media makes me think of being handed a great novel but only reading a few arbitrary pages.

@jib

I totally agree. A lot of those shots were too close.

@Dnyjec,

So if you are using a crappy video as proof of your religious belief, wouldn`t the fact it has BOTH evolution and the Ark mean the Bible is wrong? After all, Religious dogma is that non of Gods creatures can be completely destroyed. You are the kind of idiot that makes all religious belief look bad.
It`s kind of ironic that an example of evolution must be started by someone and can`t just happen on it`s own.
You be stupid.

I did find a religious reference in there, as well as an assload of inconsistencies and finally there is no such thing as an apocalypse.

So what is left to admire? It works I guess, and the complex mechanical nature of it is kinda cool, as are all other rube goldberg machines.

If this RGM breaks some sort of record, then the record is pretty damn easy to break.

Only thing I don`t like about these videos, is that you can rarely ever see the big picture of what`s going on in the machine; With so many close ups you don`t really see how one part interacts with the next and so on.

Too much electrical, and I noticed quite a few pieces that didn`t work quite right, not because of timing but because of craftsmanship (the lopsided water wheel for instance.

It was neat, but not what i look for when I think `good RG`

The video almost makes me sceptical that it was a proper Rube Goldberg machine. Just looks like a load of random things happening, probably just bad editing though.

There were too many important events left out, like the inventions of chocolate, alcohol, and porn.

Whoever filmed this deserves to be shot. It is so hard to get an idea of what action triggered what reaction.

It almost seemed as if a lot of this was based off of electric motors instead of more traditional Rube Goldberg purely physical mechanics.

I could be very wrong though because there is no way to see what is happening...
