OK, I-A-B, be honest. What did you think of the dress?

It`s not ugly, but it`s definitely not a "oh wow she looks so beautiful" dress. As my boyfriend said "a boring standard wedding dress."

I couldn`t have said it better, she looked beautiful. I wore long lace sleeves on my wedding dress as well, although it didn`t look nearly as nice as hers did. :)

I think it was gorgeous and elegant, and very flattering. I hope this will inspire women to avert the whole strapless wedding gown trend. It is so over done.

I don`t really care about the Royal Wedding. Not in a cool, apathetic, edgy way, it`s just not that interesting.

But the bishop`s dress, that poo is awesome!

You can say what you want about "oh, they don`t deserve the power" etc, but financially they are a massive, massive boost to the UK. Are you also seriously considering we put Cameron on our money as well? F U C K that mate, that`s for certain. Even though it`s a non argument (i`ve made all my real points below) it`s still pretty compelling to think of his mug on a pound coin, eugh.

Right.

- The Royal Family costs £45 million per year to maintain
- The privvy purse (the Royal Familys accountant) returned £175 million from lands revenue
back
to the government last year, and does so every year
- This means that directly the Royal Family contributes £125 million to our economy per year on average
- This is not counting Prince Edwards work, which is estimated to have brought over half a
billion
pounds worth of work to england, which also creates more jobs for english people
- This is not counting revenue from tourism which is upwards of £100 million per year
- This is not counting the many charities the Royal Family patron, and the respective donations these charities receive as a direct result of that involvement

At the end of the day she is still someone who grew up dreaming of one day marrying the man she loves, and you all crap over that cause your small minded, I`m British and I don`t care that my tax goes towards them, they bring in money themselves through tourism, so have a coke and a smile and shut the hell up.

They are not only an insult to the people of their country who have to do without so they can pay mandated taxes to support the ROYAL NONSENSE, but they are an insult to working/tax paying people all over the world. The huge illgotten wealth that the ROYALS have accumulated should be returned to the country`s treasury and all the titles, privileges and WELFARE taken from them"

@ultimakewl & Gerry1of1 forgot some other stuff Tony Blair wanted to hold an election during the cow TB crisis in the uk. No one in parliament thought about the problems of quarantine and running an election, until he went to talk to the Queen about calling an election she brought up the problems with it and election didnt get called till later.
And during the last election result the Queen and her advisors played a big part in keeping the country running and allowing the different political parties to broker deals between each other.

Also as queen is head of State we don`t need a Vice president to act as a seat filler for funerals. Our leader doesn`t have to spend valuable time meeting with less crucial countries for risk of offending them

ultimakewl -
"the whole royal family is nothing but figureheads that have no power or authority they serve no purpose in the government theyre just there to look pretty"
Prince Andrew brokers trade agreements with other nations. You think he has no "authority" ? The Queen`s influence stretches pretty far. While she cannot Veto law, she still has a say in government matter.

Princess Diana had no "authority" yet she managed to get land mines banned by every country EXCEPT the United States.

Just because it`s not done the way America does it, does not make it invalid or unimportant. Just differant. The U.S. is not the world, you know.

Enjoy it while you can. She`ll probably end up dead like your precious Princess Di because of your obsession for banality.

And no one goes to England to expressly to see the Royals. They go for the culture and the castles and the countryside. The Royals are just another thing to see while you`re there.

"you know, some people may have reservations about why any government would spend so much on such a lavish affair,"

The Royal family cost the UK taxpayer 62p per person per year. And this wedding was funded by them entirely, the state only funded the security.

Due to how much tourism and revenue the Royals bring in, they can sit on their inbred arses all day long for all I care.

No, they are Duke and Duches of Cambridge now. If the queen hadn`t give that title, she would be Princess William of Wales not Princess Kate. Which is probably why Her Maj gave them the title.

Until Charles becomes King then she will be Her Royal Highness Catherine, Princess of Wales.

@bdwg: They`ve been together for 8 years. He waited that long to propose because he wanted to be sure she was right for him and any responsibilities she takes on. And he picked a great woman. Her dress is tasteful but not as outlandish as Princess Diana`s 25 ft long train.

She wanted trees instead of flowers, and none of the expensive drapery that they normally hang for royal weddings.

She`s a woman that understands problems going on there, and wants to do something about it. Like I said, a great woman.

@McGovern American Ambassadors are invited, they can`t invite the entire world. Commonwealth countries leaders and royal families with connections got priority. Also there were more journalists then security personnel, do you know how much more money and security would have been needed if the Obama`s went? You think it`s a class thing Middleton would be a commoner you idiot.

Kate is really hot. Tall and brown hair, it`s nice.

I think it`s good to keep the royals around. During WW2 the king`s speaches from England on the radio was an important motivation for the resistance groups. As long as they spend their time on positive issues, like equality, and people caring for each other i`m cool with it. It`s good to have someone symbolic as long as they represent in a positive way. During the oil crisis our king used the metro, that was epic.

The king stays out of politics. But if we were invaded or attacked, we fight for our nation and our king.

And there is an important democratic point: separate the symbolic person from the political person. The prime minister is NOT the king. But the symbolic person has only symbolic value, not real power.

This sort of crap makes a great impression on the world BTW spending massive amounts of money on a wedding because you were born into an outdated system of governance. Pretty cute how they didn`t invite the president but could invite at least 8 dictators. I guess the president is considered a commoner because he wasn`t born into royalty.
