Meh, buy 2 computers and if one of them breaks, do the backup with the other, and THEN format, its faster and more effective than weeping

I do have one good thing to say about apple... they are exploiting people`s ignorance. Exploited people are either less likely to remain exploited or less likely to reproduce. Evolution in action.

As a Linux user (I use windows too), I feel obligated to say that the author implicitly assumes that Linux breaks. Perhaps this isn`t the case? :p

They forgot the steps where you get pissed off, throw the computer out of a window, cuss out the next person that talks to you, blame Steve Jobs if you have a PC, Bill Gates if you have a Mac (not sure why, just works out that way) get drunk, then go to step 2.

Been running Ubuntu on my desktop for about 2 years with only a few minor problems- all of which were relatively easy to fix. Also using Win7 on my laptop, which I need to run the electronic health records software that I use for school. Haven`t had a problem with that either.

"Perhaps this isn`t the case? :p"
As a Mandrake -> [email protected] -> Suse -> Fedora -> Gentoo -> Ubuntu transitioner, I know EXACTLY how it f*cking breaks.

I had one break because the package author typoed while hastily preparing to be gone on a Scout outing in the Rockies >>for a month.<<

The only one that has really worked well from install has been Ubuntu, probably because people are paid to tune it before anyone sees it.
That hasn`t stopped them from releasing updates that caused wireless NICs to not work. The difference has been such problems are repaired quickly.

Open source my ass! He forgot the part where one has to pray to Spock clearer thought and pointed ears...

I`ve had my computer for almost 5 years had one or two pretty scary issues with it plus a couple minor ones and haven`t had to reformat it once or even drop a dime to a computer shop.

    Date a geek ladies.

everything has something good, everything has something bad, stop loading your computer with viruses and it`ll last how long it`s supposed to

if you can`t manage to do that then just backup things you want/need to keep and reformat it

Been running Win XP on this machine for about 4 or 5 years. Only ever reformatted once, and that was because I felt it was time. Got Ubuntu on my daughter`s computer (since we have no Windows disk)

Had XP for about 4 years on my other pc and ubuntu for 1,5 years now on the laptop. Only mayor problem was some drated up .net framework, though that was more or less my own fault.

The link is, as everything from oatmeal, total crap. Only thing I really agree is the apple-section, though that may come from ignorance on my part.

But well, i chuckled a little bit.

I`ve had my XP for three years, havent got a single bluescreen. Then about one year ago I got a macbook, and now I get weekly BSOD every time both are turned on at the same time. (I blame the conspiracy!)

Backing up your files FTW. No weeping! You do lose some time with reinstalling though.
