I think that`s actually really cool! ^^ Nowadays it`s all so easy with computer technology, it makes it so much cooler to see how it was done all this time ago.

I wasn`t trying to troll. I`m sorry if my sense of humor doesn`t comply with your ideals of humor.

and @ DShephard

Though I was not trying to be a troll, it would appear that if I were, I would have done an excellent job.

"You are dumb and I expect you to promptly leave IAB. You basically just said (though i`m using a different movie for examples sake) That since I enjoyed the newest Star Trek movie, I am a trekkie. Doesn`t make sense. So I just want you to know that I hate you."

You proved my point by being an idiot. When did I ever mention Star Trek. Get over yourself.

@cmp212 It looks like that string is there to show where the exact center of the text is so they can line up the camera.

vv Agreed. 11 year olds and grown boymen trolls are everywhere (sadly). That`s where the Mods come into play (*AHEM* - HINT HINT)and just kill the accounts.

DShephard-
You`re dealing with trolls wrong. You`re just supposed to fight the urge and not say anything. There is simply NOTHING you can say to a troll to shut them up- all they want is a reply. Any reply. You utter a syllable in their direction, they win.
One would think that a young adult nowadays would understand how the intertubes works...

This makes it more magical. They did such simple things to make those movies. I still think that their use of models compared to their later use of CG looks way more realistic.
Star wars is lame, has ALWAYS been lame. I saw #1 open in (what?, `74) and the explosions were lame, Leia`s hair was lame. Later Yoda was WAYYY lame. Jabba was kinda cool and Darth had some stuff but the Sith dude with the horns was a return to LLLAAAMMMEEE. Ad naseum.
They did the best they could given the time. As for the prequels, they messed up on many occasions, but I watched those for the music and effects, which were pretty cool.

Overall, all 6 movies were mediocre in my books.

I doesn`t matter if the effects are old school, or CGI, It still takes hours of work

lillim, i do visual effects for film, and i think you would be surprised as to how much imagination really does go into it (the fact that you believe that today`s effects don`t take effort leads me to believe you have no idea what you`re talking about anyway). A lot of the things visual effects do today are very similar to the techniques used in the past. Technology has just improved to make certain things easier, and therefore have led people to try more complicated things.

Did anyone really not know this is how they did it? What`s next IAB, still shots of the miniatures they used for the X-Wings and TIE Fighters "ruining the magic"?

Agree with Lillim. Why bother with story lines and character development when you can make explosions on a computer?

I much prefer cheesy 80s special effects to the CGI crap we have now. Shows effort and imagination went into it, instead of just making a computer do all the work. My 2 cents.

danthew: This was 1980, Moire screensavers were the pinnacle of computer graphics back then.

oh damn that totally ruins the magic, i thought there was a giant bunch of letter actually floating around in space that happened to form those words

Doesn`t really ruin the magic, if anything it adds magic now I know they didn`t just computer animate it.

im with you, in a universe infinite possibility there has to that exact string of text floating some where in it. Lucas just used his black magic to find it!

I don`t get how this is sad, it`s much cooler having to actually DO something rather than just type words into a text box and hitting enter.

No, they just put little stickers on the camera lens.

WeePee - how does it make it more magical exactly? I`ve never understood that.
0

Male 612
not really. actually makes it a bit more magical because the text wasn`t just thrown in with computer software, as it would be done in today`s movies.
