We might never know, but the headline coupled with this rather suggestive photo makes one wonder...

OK I get that the scout salute is a bad choice (or a deliberately amusing one because of what else if could represent) for this article, but seriously, 14-18 year olds!??? Is there a 10 year old out there still that doesn`t know more about sex than their parents? WTF do they think they can teach a 14 yo?

"available to both male and female"

I don`t see the problem. and the 3-fingers is the scout sign, it was in an attempt to not have to photograph an actual scout and/or learn their name

@handys003,

BSA= Boy Scouts of AMERICA.
BBC= BRITISH Broadcasting Corporation.
The article has nothing to do with the BSA. The scouts in England are called just that, The Scouts (or the Scouting Association).

Not suprising. Since the Head of BSA was caught spending BSA money taking side trips to the local strip clubs.

Wait, are they seriously encouraging the male boy scout leaders to teach sex ed to the boys? I guess they decided they were totally OK with the scout`s reputation for child molester scout leaders.

@davidstone
No comma needed after "read" in UK-English. The comma before "and" is added only in American-English lists. Other than that, lovely. :) Now I feel ashamed for commenting on grammar and feeding the troll debate. Still, got to admit American spelling makes more sense. I still agree with David Mitchell`s view on "could care less" though.

Scouts is a religious organization, through and through. They also receive money from the federal government, which is against the constitution of the separation of church and state. This is why I hate scouts.

I understand Gerry was trolling, but hansonrocks:

"We" should have been used in place of "us." It`s the subject, and us is not the subject form. You also need a comma after "read," because in a list, unless conjunctions are used all the way through, you need a comma before the conjunction. Along with that, you "speak" English. Your capitalization of the word "it`s" is also incorrect, as it is not a formal noun, nor is it at the beginning of a sentence. "Amrecan`s" is spelled "Americans."

You`re right, though. You clearly do it better.

British/Australian speak English, most of the United States speak Common and Spanish. And since I`m from Canada, I`m adding my own country, which speaks Common/English, French, and Chinese/Korean, and Spanish (possible not in the right order of use). Multiculturalism, gotta love it.

When will the English learn to speak and spell english?

We in the U.S. do it right and it`s spelled "program" not pro-gramme"

That`s a really good idea actually. I think it should be taught everywhere. Schools here try to teach about sex but sex Ed is "Don`t do it. It will fall off...or something...if you do!!!!"

It`s a salute, it`s the same in Guiding, and I would say it`s alright. It`s 14-18, school would tell them just as much

Speaking as a former eagle scout, I applaud the introduction of the "Finger Banging" and "Muff Diving" merit badges.

Be prepared, indeed...

@eggy: i would say that they actually need the sex ed, since it`s actually quite common to have sex at scout camps

This could only be funny to someone who is too ignorant to know the scout salute.

dont get it, perhaps because i`m a scout myself, besides, the picture is taken of the scout salute, you take the three fingers and press the side of the index finger towards your forehead with the ring finger pointing outwards, all done with the right hand, just sayin`
