Every non-nice individual cop out there ruins the reputation of all the good cops just trying to do the best they can... there are good cops out there, aren`t there?

people in the U.S. have to put up with so much police bullpooery i mean i just got a $228.50 for having my FOG LIGHTS on at night, not brights, fog lights! that are designed to be less bright than normal lights so less light reflects from water particles in fog.

there must be people who`ve worked customer service, do you remember how annoyed you got at the stupidity of the customers? i think cops must feel a lot like that, but they have the ability to arrest detain people for no reason...
something to think about

the police in the states are way way too insane.

where is the justice?

just because they can doesn`t mean they should.

All they are are profiteers of people`s misery.

Just shameful that a once great nation has decended into police state.

you cant watch 3 minutes of a video like this and make assumptions of what happened. he had their id so he interacted with them before they pressed record and im sure he went back to the driver so more happened after he stopped recording. my point is he could have only been detained not arrested we dont know because they didnt record. for all we know the guy had a warrant and the officer was waiting to pull him out.

I`m amazed how popular something like brutality or police business or police brutality gets when cameras were made available at the blink of an eye. It makes you wonder if this is how the world has always been, or if we`re just noticing it now that it`s thrown in our face.

Since I`m from an hour north of Parkersburg, go there a lot. The cop almost definitely was picked on in one of the fine WV schools then became a cop to pick on people, at least half the police force in my small town are that way. However the two kids also sound like a typical idiot does in WV, I`m sure the cop did know them, and that was strike three for them.

The cop obviously knew them both and had dealings with them before, so mouthoff and ta-daa right to the pokey.

Miranda Rights are only read when the person is about to be interrogated/questioned, not arrested.

I think it is funny that all the people on here defending these two idiots are probably the first people that will go nuts if governments tried to reform laws regarding union negotiations saying we have to protect police and fire fighters (which is true). So don`t be hypocrits, either they deserve strong union rights or they are idiots who just want to bully people. Pick one.

BTW, I agree with some people that if you keep your mouth shut and treat police as human beings there will be no trouble

firstly that department is going to have a serious lawsuit. Secondly when you are arrested it is your right under law to be 1: read you rights, and 2: told what you`re being charged with. If you are not it is illegal and you will be released with no penalties.

All this people saying that he should be arrested because he was talking back or being a smartass, what are you smoking? You don`t get arrested for that, it`s not against the law to express your freedom of speech. You are allowed to say whatever you want. This guy was clearly causing no harm or public disorder, just getting into an arguement with a cop. And if arguing with a cop is all it takes to get arrested, then the police are as bad as gestapo`s. btw, listen to adam carolla`s rant about police Herehttp://www.hark.com/clips/blkqszslfz-adam-carolla-rant-on-cops-and-ticketsI think that anyways who listens to this will find themselves agreeing with Carolla and his views on cops.

2910: Arguing with a cop will never get you anywhere. Do you think, even if the passenger was right, the cop would say "I`m so sorry, sir. On your way"? Go through the proper channels, file a complaint, be a sue-happy assclown for all I care. Yelling back at an officer is never a good idea.

The cop seemed nice, and even when he asked the question he received a reasonable response to it.

What I saw was someone getting pulled over for bad tags, and the passenger arguing with a cop. He got an answer, just shut up.

is it just me or is there a pattern going on here. Every time a cop steps out of his legal duties, the arrest is for obstruction. is the obstruction law that undefined to where these power hungry douches can pull that, or are we as Americans just that weak to allow it?

I`ve emailed this video to the mayor of Parkersburg, the Parkersburg city council, the Parkersburg newspaper, the Parkersburg Fox affiliate, ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN as well as the cheif of police requesting an explanation as to why the Parkersburg Police department feels it can arrest anyone it wants for no reason and charge them with `obstruction of justice.` Hopefully the charges will be dropped, the officer fired and never work in any position of authority again, and the victom will successfully sue the city for millions of dollars.

I thought the passenger was just being detained, but he swears up and down on youtube that he was arrested. Whatever. Just because we have the right to talk like non-nice individuals, doesn`t mean we should. There`s a time and place for everything. Cops aren`t part of the judiciary system. Sometimes they`ll consider a well-rationed argument politely and respectfully made, but they`re not obligated to. They`re a part of the executive branch. It`s their job to enforce the law. The officer noted the registration tags weren`t right and that the driver was driving poorly ("like an idiot.") That`s reason enough to pull him over.

If you don`t like it, fight it in court, register a complaint through the appropriate channels, etc. Don`t activate non-nice individual mode because you get butthurt dealing with the responding officer.

Happy to see that so many IABers are smart and don`t backtalk the cops, you can`t win and it ain`t worth it. All they want is respect and if you`re nice enough they`ll at least reduce your charges or even let you go.

probably just got arrested for being white trash. the passenger seems to have started a p*ssing contest with the officer and lost, that is all the video proves. next time just shut the hell up and don`t act like a jack ass

First off, the driver had the wrong tags on his vehicle, so he`s driving illegally. Second, they should have kept their mouths shut. I never understood why people feel the need to antagonize police officers.
These guys aren`t freedom fighters or heroic people standing up for free speech. They`re idiots who were mouthing off to a police officer. True, there probably won`t be any charges brought against the passenger, but keep your damn mouth shut.

The only personality type that wants a job where they have total control over people is a bully. Either you were always a bully, or you were bullied in school and want to be the bully now.

If you wanted to actually help people, you`d be a fireman or some other emergency response person.

Jesus people. Don`t think you can get away with things on your own. Don`t talk to a cop, don`t initiate any form of conflict. Get out as smoothly as possible. I know its a crap deal and cops are abusive of power, but is it worth getting arrested over?

This is the game cops play. They grab you for no reason, refuse to tell you why they`re arresting you, and then when you fight back they get you for resisting arrest. They do this on purpose because they count on you fighting back so that they have an excuse to take you in. drating pigs.

*sighs heavily*

Definite overreaction of the part of the Officer.

Absolute BS on the obstruction charge. The ticket was written for whatever he pulled them over for, they were free to go.

The Officer then made an unnecessary remark about a previous incident, at which point the passenger did nothing more than question that Officer`s recollection of that event.

The "charge" has no chance of sticking with the video out there.

That being said, I have nothing but respect for good cops, but this f***ing power-mad jerk needs to go.
