Fast, easy and cheap is the mantra of the modern filmmaker. I wish they would bring back stop motion animation too...

Some of those were cool, some of those were creepy, others were cool and creepy at the same time.

@golb- it`s sadly true. Although we`ve made advances, old fashioned animatronics will be missed

@simmer- I hate to sound like an ass, but I think what you mean to say is `ape` hands

Animatronics is slowly dying out, as CGI is taking over.

@handimanner & Discobiscuit
I don`t think John Nolan was even born yet when the original Clash of the Titans was being filmed. If he was, he was just a baby.

John Nolan didn`t start working professionally as a special effects artist until 2003/2004...and that was pretty much straight out of university (1999-2002).

Just have to say: I F.UCKING hate the singing belly-button animatronic. It makes me throw up in my mouth a little every time I see it!

When I was a little kid, Herbie Hancock`s Rocket video freaked me out. This would have robbed me of sleep for two days.

It`s a shame, animatronics is a dying art what with computer graphics everything. There`s just something about horribly animated rubber faces. Ah, I miss the Ninja Turtles.

and creepy baby is creepy
