@Angilion My hat is off to you sir. That was very well spoken, and true. True sexual equality is the opposite of defining and advocating for a single sex.
We [feminists] just want men and women to have equal rights and opportunities.
That statement does not match feminism at all, neither in theory nor in practice.

Feminism is a biological group advocacy ideology. It`s the most successful one, but it`s not fundamentally different to the others.

But that`s not the main reason I find it disgusting. It`s not that feminism is innately sexist (though it is). It`s not that feminism is hypocritical apart from the extreme end that is honestly sexist (although that is also true).

No, the main reason I find feminism loathesome is that it has infected and corrupted the idea of sexual equality, like a parasite infecting a host or a virus invading a host cell and usurping it to make more of the virus.

You can`t advocate for one sex only without defining and judging people by their sex as a first step. That is the opposite of sexual equality.

Where the hell do some of you get your information on feminists from? We don`t believe that men and women are the same. We just want men and women to have equal rights and opportunities.

I think everyone is missing the point... the fact that there is an Women`s MMA speaks for the equality that (I think) we`ve always wanted. That women are not stopped by governmental or societal restrictions to keep them from fighting each other in the ring is the point. I think a lot of North American women forget how good we do have it here. It`s not perfect yet but wow, it is a lot nicer than lots of places around the world.

Let the women fight if they wish! Isn`t if fun to watch? Did you notice that about 2/3 of the women could not take a hit? The other 1/3 of the fighters though... holy s**t I would not want to mess with them. Michel Rodriguez type tough.

Take the biggest professional female MMA fighter and set her against the smallest pro male MMA fighter and she`ll get her ass kicked.

I`m not going to pretend that I could take any of these women in a fight. I will however say that the woman in the start of the video practicing with the guy twice her size, wouldn`t last a minute in the ring with him. Showing him blocking and saying they are equals in the ring is pretty far fetched.

I`ve yet to see a women who would last in the ring against a man of equal weight and training. Just picture any women stepping in a professional boxing ring with Mike Tyson, it`s not going to be pretty.
[..] humans are wonderful! I like them! They`re my 4th favorite mammal!
That gave me a good laugh.
I rage against the feminist nonsense that `men and women are identical` because it`s just wrong.
It`s also not feminist - how can someone who considers one sex only and therefore must as a first step in everything think everyone is and should be defined by their sex also think that men and women are identical?

The denial of differences is strongest in those who argue that men and women are different, because they`re almost always arguing that all men are the same and all women are the same.

In reality, individuals are different and there are some trends in some groups.

It no longer applies, but it`s deeply engrained in societies. The densely populated, heavily interconnected and relatively safe world we live in now is a very new thing in terms of how long humans have been around.
Anyhow it`s the idea of how would you say...Chivalry maybe? The idea it`s beneath a women to fight and men must fight for them.
It predates chivalry by a *long* way. It predates agriculture. It goes right back to small semi-nomadic groups of hunter-gatherers, i.e. how humans lived for most of the existence of humanity. It`s blunt survival in those circumstances, a matter of relative scarcity of resources. A woman could have a child every 2-4 years (fertility is reduced while breastfeeding). When you factor in miscarriages, deaths in childbirth or from infection afterwards, infant mortality and menopause, you can see how a small hunter-gatherer group is never many women away from fading away. It`s completely different with men - one man could father hundreds of children. So men were a lot more disposable.

Concepts such as "fair" don`t count for squat in nature. It`s survive or die and nature doesn`t care.

It no longer applies,

Yeah, it`s hardly known at all. The order only existed for a while in one city ~850 years ago. It`s an interesting anomaly. There were quite a few female knights around Europe for centuries, but none of the others fought or were expected to.
There is a major difference between men and women, but there is also a major difference between trained fighters and your average joe
A key point. I work with a woman who`s a foot shorter than me and not much more than half my weight but I`d never be able to touch her in a fight, let alone beat her, simply because she`s well trained and I`m not.

5Cats` comment
So with a few weeks of training I`d whup these girls.
is cobblers. A few months of training, maybe. A few years of training, very likely. A few weeks? No.
(BJK was #1 in her field, and on steroids, Bobby Riggs wasn`t listed in the top 100, and never took a `roid in his life. He almost beat her anyway! What a joke.)
Rather more relevantly, she was 29, at the peak of her game and in training. He was 55, had retired over 20 years earlier and hadn`t been training. He wasn`t rated *at all*. His peak occured before BJK was even born.

BJK was ranked #2 female player at the time. Bobby Riggs played the #1 a little while earlier and trounced her. That, of course, received little publicity.

BJK and Riggs were both hamming it up ludicrously for publicity, e.g. he entered in a chariot pulled by women, she entered in a litter carried by men. The supposed sexism on Riggs` part was almost certainly a publicity stunt, which obviously worked.

Society has the Chivalrous code that we men are evil if we defeat a woman because we would be bullies. On the other hand if we refuse to take on a woman we are cowards in the eyes of society. Frustrating the societal conditioning. If a woman wants to pick a fight then so be it IMO. Society should accept things such as dead daughters in war if women value equality.

@5 Cats, Angilion, Cobrakiller

Perhaps my "European prejudice" should be better clarified. I`m well aware of history of women fighters in Europe as well (nice story Angilion never heard that one). Anyhow it`s the idea of how would you say...Chivalry maybe? The idea it`s beneath a women to fight and men must fight for them. Probably more enhanced over time by Europeans and their immigrant counterparts to new territories over the years. It seems to evolved into women are not equal in combat.

Where in some cases they may not be in hand to hand combat the majority of time. However using skilled arts with weapons such as firearms or bows and even blades they can be formidable as any man if trained well enough over the male counter-part. Physical hand to hand... well that depends on many factors. Depending on weight/size, conditioning and knowledge and attitude. However more than likely we will never know. It`s a no win for a male one on one in combat.

5cats, its true that men and women arent identical, but Id love to see you get in the ring with any of these women, or any of the girls at my gym.
There is a major difference between men and women, but there is also a major difference between trained fighters and your average joe (or cat in this instance). unless you go through vigorous training to get yourself into a fighting shape, I really dont think you would do well against some of these fighters.
Im 6`1 and in pretty good shape from Muay Thai training, and ive seen these girls in my gym take down guys around my size. When it comes down to it, your skills mean more than your gender.

vv @Angilion and others have mentioned that there have been many `women warriors` over the centuries. It`s a fact! There`s going to be some females, 2-3% I`d guess, who can hold their own with the males. Heck there`s 10-15% who could whup my ass! lolz!
So I`m not trying to disrespect the ladies, humans are wonderful! I like them! They`re my 4th favorite mammal!
But males and females are different, ON PURPOSE! 200K years of evolution aren`t an accident, eh? I rage against the feminist nonsense that `men and women are identical` because it`s just wrong.

Sad.
I`m a whimpy guy (I`m a ChildCare worker! ffs!) but I could whup 2/3 of those women.

I have a glass jaw (surgery error)
I have a nose that`s prone to bleeding
I`m NOT in shape
I`m 6`0" and 210

So with a few weeks of training I`d whup these girls. It`s a fact: men=fight!

They fight OK, for girls. I have lots of respect for them! But they`d get OWNED by the worst of their male counterparts.

Don`t let the "Billy Jean King" nonsense delude you, males are MUCHO better at most sports than women. In the 10 `rematches` of tennis stars, the women are 0-10, they`ve won ONE point...

(BJK was #1 in her field, and on steroids, Bobby Riggs wasn`t listed in the top 100, and never took a `roid in his life. He almost beat her anyway! What a joke.)

The knights are an odd story. A major nobleman stripped his main city of men who he conscripted into his army. While he was away with all the men attacking one enemy, another seized to opportunity to take his undefended city. Clever move. Short siege and they`re bound to surrender, easy victory. A sizable number of women in the city decided "no, you can`t have it, it`s ours", got weapons and armour and sallied forth to attack the besiegers. Faced with the choice of running away or fighting women (a staggering dishonourable thing to do by the standards of the time), they ran away.

When the nobleman returned, he knighted the women for their great service to him (defending his city) and courage in battle. Which was remarkably fair of him.
That`s a typical thought projected through European prejudices.
There are European examples as well. For example, there are reports of morale issues in the Roman army caused by being required to fight women in Gaul and Britain. Roman men were very strongly conditioned to protect women (over-protect IMO) and it bothered many of them to face women on the battlefield. There`s no doubt that some Gaulish and British women fought in those days - the reports are clear. In eastern Europe and western Asia, there`s extremely strong evidence for female warriors in the past in the form of burials. There are provably female remains buried with weapons and other warrior goods, which strongly implies they were warriors. Back to Roman times and you can find clear accounts of female gladiators. It was very unusual, but it happened. There was briefly a *military* order of female knights in Spain in the 12th century.

That`s a typical thought projected through European prejudices. You ever heard of the Onna-Musha? They were women warriors who fought in many battles in Japan. Yeah who would of thought Samurai were all male.

Put it bluntly my wife alone I would rather have in a firefight. She carries a Winchester .44 cal in the gun cabinet. Many times she has dropped Mufflon at 150 yards without a sweat. Took out many wild boar on Hualalai also with a crossbow. Frankly she is a better hunter than most of the local ones I know.
Second she may not be as strong as men, but she will cut them up with the knives just as better as anyone I;I`ve seen. Top it off she was a model in Japan. Never underestimate the potential of an adversary man or women. That is a tactical mistake. The only reason many of the men make this comparison. Is the rules are set in the cage. In real combat there are no rules.

I liked the tune that was background music for this video.

FYI The feudal lords in Japan usually had their female concubines trained in martial arts as last resort backups. That way he could have sex and be protected from assassins.

some of the female fights can be entertaining, but womens mma is nowhere near mens when it come to talent. look at the most hyped womens fight ever, Gina Carano vs. Cyborg. i had to watch someone pull full mount, and Gina stand up from full mount twice in the same fight. give it time.

the fight around 5:30 was insane, mostly because Finney was some how able to make it into the 2nd round.

Fujii is pretty sick as well.

"women in the sport are just a tough as men" uuummmmm no. same weight class and almost every time the woman would get easily beat by a male competitor. men and women are not biologically equal and putting them in a cage match together would only result in an injured woman fighter and a male fighter criticized for beating the snot out of her.

also this video was about 6 min too long, i was extremely bored by it after the first 1:30

Every time I watch MMA I`m conflicted between admiration for these people`s skill and disgust at the barbarity of it all.

Watching someone lying on the ground getting his face pounded relentlessy just doesn`t sit well with me.
