And just so the rest of you know, people in NZ aren`t just white. Indigenous New Zealanders are the Maori (a subset of pacific islanders).. so all your comments of "if this had been X people instead of white" really make no sense.

So... If it was Black People who had left without paying, there would be three pages of every racist on IAB making any number of offensive and tired comments along the lines of "f`n animals", and "what else did you expect".

But lo and behold, a video of White People openly stealing from an unstaffed market and... nothing, with the sole exception being tommy2x4`s comment "Good thing that didn`t happen in Compton".

Congratulations tommy2x4... you haven`t changed my opinion of you one bit.

I would have paid. Something like this happened to me and I paid then and I would still pay if it happened again. If your own moral compass doesn`t tell you to do the right thing, maybe your fear of hidden cameras should be your guide. Nowadays, if I came across an abnormal situation, the first thing I would think of is that someone set the situation up so they could post it on the internet.

HEre in Winnipeg (or was it Calgary, oh heck, it was Western Canada) a Safeway was accidentally left open. A dozen or more shoppers came in, shopped, noticed there were NO STAFF! They called the manager at his home!
One guy had to go, he left the money for his purchaces, saying he`d come back for his change later.
Not one thing was stolen!

People in NZ get off for that long for Easter? In America we don`t get any off. :/

@emmettyville religious holidays or not, it`s much needed time off work, even for retail people(paid in most cases). Also this country was founded mostly by christians, hence the easter holiday period. If you want to celebrate ramadan then go live in Syria or something.

"The reason stop light cameras are installed are to generate revenue."

That is actually very true, in some cases if a city needs to generate more revenue they will actually shorten the time of the yellow light to catch more red light runners... Seems to defeat the purpose of the stop light.

netro: The reason stop light cameras are installed are to generate revenue. They`ll claim it`s for reasons of safety, but I find people usually behave properly, more often, when there is an actual police presence there.

Many communities have finally figured out that stop light cameras don`t stop people from breaking the law, and people have found clever ways to defeat them by obscuring their license plate numbers from them.

It`s better to post police officers to patrol near high-risk locations then enrich an out of town company that only cares about issuing as many tickets as possible.

Lol that would have been fun to be there.

Seriously though, how the hell do you not pay and not expect to be done for shoplifting? How is OK to wander in somewhere and take stuff?

Give them a few days to pay, then I hope a fair few people get criminal records.

"Lay charges? Ha! How? You gonna ask the police to round up dozens of people based on security footage, and for what? Not being able to pay? Pathetic."

So if you leave your door unlocked accidentally and then go away for the weekend and then I come to your home with a truck and take what I want... then you`re saying that is perfectly legal.

What is your address? I will wait for you to screw up one day.

@CrakrJak ..just because they put up some stop lights doesn`t mean they still aren`t going to do ride prgrams, drive around checking for suspcious activty and/or actually radar indiviudals themsevles.

You have a terrible sense of logic. I bet you think the `man` is out to get you too..

Haha! You make a mistake and the store "opens" without staff, what do you expect is going to happen?

Lay charges? Ha! How? You gonna ask the police to round up dozens of people based on security footage, and for what? Not being able to pay? Pathetic.

You know what you do? Fire the guy who`s job it is to open and close the store remotely.

This is why stop light cameras don`t work, because cameras can`t stop people and enforce the rules.

Actual human beings will always be needed to keep people honest and stop violators/criminals.

For instance, A drunk driver drives through a stop light at 2am and gets a ticket in the mail. Do you honestly think they`ll stop driving on their own ? No, They`ll think themselves lucky it was just a ticket and that their car wasn`t impounded and themselves jailed.
