I`m going to let you all in on a secret. I discovered it during boring captivity after being kidnapped by aliens (who the UK secret permanent ruling conspiracy is working with) by using numerology on the OED, they key to which can be deciphered by folding a £20 note in the right way. So it`s obviously completely true.

Barack Obama is English. It`s the first step in retaking the USA from within. You see, the aliens first came to Earth in London during the late 17th century and wish to remodel Earth to be more like how they first knew it.

Totally true, every word.

Fact: roosterroaches are the ONLY creature on earth that will survive a nuclear winter. Look it up....you all are thinking way to hard.

handys003 responds:
Um...not a fact on c*ckroaches surviving alone. This is hypothetical assertion, and not put in practical application. No one has replicated a nuclear winter yet to see what results would occur. The Ice age proves that animals survive through evolution.

The bare fact alone that many creatures have survived the nuclear testing in the 50`s and 60`s on the atolls (Marshall islands) of the South Pacific. You will find coral, fish, reptiles, insects, and various crabs, etc... roam the islands and their waters. Many of which such as the trees, and plants that bare fruit exist, and grow abundant also. The only problem is they are loaded with with radioactive elements from the soil and toxic to eat. These creatures survive actual replicated nuclear blasts repeated times. That is a fact.

Oh, and fyi there aren`t as many combinations on a rubic`s cube as you think. The middle pieces of each face are always the same relative to each other. Corners can only replace corners, middle edge pieces can only replace middle edge pieces, and it happens in pairs/triplets of specific combinations, resulting in far fewer possibilities than you would think.

Old-people comments need to be limited on IAB to prevent degrading every post into a political-religious war that is nothing more than a bunch of old fools thinking the world "liberal" is supposed to be an insult. It`s funny, moderates and liberals think of these super conservative types as that "silly grandfather" or "crazy uncle" in their family, but they, armed to the teeth, think the rest of us are an evil set loose upon the planet, going after everyone`s freedoms, wanting to burn christianity and surrender to islam.

As @Handy mentioned, the Governer of Hawaii searched for it, in hospital and gov`t records, couldn`t find it. And no, it`s wasn`t "we have it but privacy blah blah" it was: we cannot find ANY record of BHO`s Hawaiian birth... except a newspaper clipping, lolz!

Is that sarcasm or not? It`s honestly hard to tell sometimes on the internet. Anyway, it`s a simple word substitution filter that could probably be turned off in less than 5 minutes if one was so inclined. That`s not the kind of thing that would be "deeply embedded" in code.

I don`t really care either way. When I first started reading this site though, I thought it really odd how everybody used the word "drating" all the time. I was like WTF is drating? Until I figured it out.

Actually more than one is true depending on the situation. You can get a triangle with two 90 degree angles in non-Euclidean geometry (such as on a sphere). Also, only 22% of people have the genes necessary to smell the chemicals that cause the urine of asparagus eaters to smell strange, but it is actually there in everyone who eats asparagus.

I saw a show about some gamblers who noted that roulette wheels are never balanced right. They would collect data a wheel for 3 days and then bet on the side of the wheel that wins more often. They won so much money they have been banned from Casinos worldwide. The show was called "Breaking Vegas" even though they also broke casinos in other cities as well as Las Vegas. So I guess the roulette wheel is true.

The Obama one is inconclusive so I guess that was included as a flame war item.

The Mayan calendar does not end on that date. One cycle of one of the Mayan calendars ends on that date(*). Different thing entirely.

In any case, it can`t mean anything to anyone who isn`t a follower of the ancient Mayan religion because that Mayan calender counts days and has a starting day solely based on that religion. It`s the same thing as someone saying that a certain date is going to be incredibly important because it`s x days since the birth of Zeus.

* Probably. There is some disagreement.

If you do more advanced math, you get a more complex answer which allows for triangles with a total of more than 180 degrees. Non-Euclidean geometry. Euclid was brilliant, but he didn`t cover every possibility.

I didn`t think about it until after I saw it mentioned. I`ve looked at non-Euclidean geometry a bit, but it`s not something most people get reminded of in daily life.

It isn`t. Some animals would move nearer the equator where it would be as warm as they were used to. Other animals would be able to tolerate colder conditions. The reduction in food supply would reduce the population of all animals, but there would be survivors in many species.
im guessing the roosterroach one is true.
Wrong guess.
It`s the roaches that are true. They survive just about anything, including radioactive contaminataion.
Anything a dratIABroach can survive can be survived by some other animals.

The statement was not about radioactive contamination. It was about a global reduction in average surface temperature caused by the insulating effect of dust in the atmosphere.

It`s been more than 15 years since AOL made the ridiculously incompetent use of censorship public news because of the number of people affected by their particular implementation of it. I`d provide links to details, but IAB won`t allow them because it`s worse than AOL in the mid 90s.

Embedding and concealing it in the code to such an extent that it`s not even possible to incomptently censor in an honest way by replacing users` text with the word `censored` or even with asterisks? That`s strange.

"A triangle needs 180 degrees, and three angles..."

Actually, if you really wanted to get into it, you could say that the triangle has two 90° angles and one 0° angle. At that point, you`ve got a degenerate triangle, but I suppose you could argue that it`s still a triangle.

@Logan033, you call other people idiots and yet you fail to realise all sound can make an echo. Duck`s can echo, they proved it on mythbusters. Have you ever gone to a pond and yelled out? Did it echo? Of course not, there`s nothing to bounce the sound off. And even if there was, you are yelling. Compare to the volume of a duck quack. It`s too quiet to occur in nature unless the duck is near a confined space. So STFU about stuff you know nothing about.

since you argue on the birthers I`m submitting facts against Obama. I`m from Hawaii. His hospital can`t produce anyone to testify, nor do they have any official records of his birth there. Not even a bill for services. The Governor Neal Abercrombie who was adamant about his birth in Hawaii investigated and found no evidence. he even recanted to the press that his seeing him as a baby was false. he did not see him until he was 6 years old. The Congressional Research service which is a branch of Congress to verify eligibility to run for Federal office. They have stated in writing no one has submitted Obamas documents of eligibility.

Fourth the Hawaii Elections Chairman Tim Adams has signed an official affidavit that Obama has not presented an Official Birth certificate. He`s a Democrat and so is Abercrombie and both supported Obama.

They only reason Obama is considered a local boy here is because he lived with his grandmother in Hawaii until he finished

Valid birth certificate produced.

You`ll find that the argument has moved on from 2 years ago. You see 2 years ago was
"where`s the birth certificate?"
The answer to which was "here".
"We don`t believe you, that`s a forgery"
".... seriously... that`s what you`re going with?"
"Wait! We found his Kenyan birth certificate! We found 2!"
"That`s a photoshop of an australian birth certificate... you haven`t even changed all the names... wait... you found 2 and didn`t think something was up?"
"Wait wait... erm, we need the LONG FORM birth certificate! Ha!"

If you need any more catchup, here`s a good starting point.

On a spherical surface a triangle connecting one point with another through a 90-degree arc and a third through a 90-degree arc at 90-degrees to that arc will have three right angles. To see this take a globe and join the north pole with the equator twice, once down the Prime (Greenwich) Meridian and once down the 90-degree-east meridian. It`s not the egg one - that can be done on any day of the year.

By the same standards of proof, nobody can prove that he wasn`t born in any country you care to name.

you can make a triangle with 3 right angles if you do it on a football (an english football) try it

The Jesus and Mary one might possibly be sort of true. Leonardo could have put that in heavily disguised to make a bit of a dig at the church. I think it was just a pretty man with long hair, though.

Rubik`s cube? I don`t know about that one.

I think that one is also provably false in another way - the *net* force would be zero because they`d have to jump up and come back down.
cell phone and gas true
Only if the phone is very faulty and creates a spark and even then only if the concentration of petrol vapour in the air is within the right range. So it might happen if you have spilled petrol in a confined space and the phone battery shorts out very badly or explodes. But only then.

The asparagus is not true. Only 22% people can smell asparagus pee, but everyone gets it. Israeli study.

Link.

Now, as for which one is the truth... this is actually pretty tough... without looking it up, I`m going to go with...

Definitely not:
Gum, Kenya, roosterroaches aren`t the *only* thing, Mayan 2012, Nigerian prince, Jesus, Pregnant, Mad cow, Duck echo, Munchkin, roulette, Spiders, Popcorn, Cherry Tree, equinox egg, Asparagus pee, Rubiks, skull shape, cellphone + gas,
China axis (93BKg vs 6E+24Kg)

Possibly:
Triangle Angle sewems like the only one left.... (Kinda tricksy using non-euclidean geometry)

It`s the triangle one. If you check the "credits" link through the actual video on youtube> http://goo.gl/QbbmB

The last one.
I thought roosterroaches could survive radiation.
They can survive quite a bit more than humans, but there are many other animals more resistant than roosterroaches. Any degree of radiation exposure that roosterroaches survive would also be survived by other animals.

But this statement was about a nuclear *winter*, not radiation exposure. Many small animals would survive that.

lekola, it`s that cocroaches are not the only ones that could survive that breaks that not that they would die to it. Google "waterbears" for one of the most hardy.

Zymotical - that`s why I`m saying that you can have a triangle with 520 degrees just by using ridiculously curvy line segments to connect the vertices.

Maybe you mean with **non-euclidEan** geometry RPGillespie.

Another note, Triangles are not defined by the sum of their angles that is just a property in euclidean space. Triangles are polygons with three vertices and three line segment edges.

"By definition, a triangle is a geometric shape whose angles add up to 180 degrees. Anything with more than that is not a triangle."

By definition, a triangle is a geometric shape with 3 sides and 3 angles, the angles just happen to add to 180 degrees in all triangles

Technically, unless you define "triangle" you could make a triangle have up to 520 degrees (180 + 180 + 180) just by giving it a bogus definition. Example: "Let`s say that using curved lines on a sphere counts as a triangle as long as only 3 curved lines are drawn!" Well, I could take my own 3D shape and use a bunch of curvy lines to achieve a 520 triangle as long as I define the triangle to be a closed circuit of 3 squigly lines.

And no, turbotong is not right:
"you can have a triangle with 2x 90 degree angles on a spherical surface. It`s called elucidean geometry."

Perhaps that he meant with *non-euclidian* geometry, triangles with up to *3* 90 degree angles can be formed. However, usually when someone says "triangle" they are referring to planar geometry. Otherwise, I could technically make a "triangle" with more than 360 degrees using wormholes.

Wikipedia: "The internal angles in planar triangles always sum to 180°... a spherical triangle has measures of angles that sum to more than 180°." Do "spherical" triangles count? We`d have to do some heavy assuming.
