I love how Doom II will work on 7 but the pen pressure from my tablet won`t work in SAI on 7.

It`s probably because Microsoft is full of twatfaces and their only concerns are of programs that they create in the first place.

feels i need to go back and use versions prior to 3.11 (which i had to use in High School despite the fact that at the time 98SE was readily available).

I and everyone I know did not have any problem with ME.....? I was not a great upgrade but it did work fine.

@Thermophage

He mentions in the middle that you cannot upgrade Windows ME to Windows 2000, so it was skipped.

ME (Or Migraine Edition as I call it) was a programming mess and turned almost every computer it touched into a giant paper weight. And seeing as he wanted to maintain use of his computer, it was a smart choice for him to skip.

An interesting trip down memory lane. It brings to mind countless hours upgrading my machines as well as many co-workers. In the end, this video reminded me that I still have a cold, dark spot of hatred in my heart for Microsoft (though I still prefer it to Apple)

2 hours to install vista? Wow. This guy must be using some sort of IDE crapdrive with a P3 or something. It took me 10 minutes to install W7.

I can`t imagine what I`ve done to illicit such a remark,
but not to worry . . . I`m an acquired taste.

I`ll give you a clue about my new avatar - "BEEF"

Color scheme?? come on who gives a crap about that!
And also, ive come to notice that microsoft alternates between a sucky version of windows to a great one, happened with 3.0, good, 95, bad, 98 good, 2000/Me bad, XP, good, Vista, baaaad, and seven, greates os alive.
dont get me wrong, i love all the linux based os, but theyre still not user as friendly as windows, and mac, well you cant do anything with mac, in fact, i think steve jobs can take away your mac if you dont use it correctly

this is interesting to who?

okay, since it`s long and boring, let`s talk about me instead. I am long and interesting :-)

I am going to change my highly unpopular Avatar. I will unvail it this weekend some time. I`ve chosen one that represents both my generation and what people really want to do to me.

stay tuned

I like how "experimentally" formal this guy sounds, and then he names his computer "twa tface" and makes it pink, red, and yellow; a completely nausea inducing color scheme.

"Am i the only one who`s kinda bugged by the fact they missed Windows ME"

No you`re not. He chose his own path. He jumped from 98 to 2000. He also left out 3.11, Windows for Workgroups.

2000 was the next in line after NT - also not mentioned as it was a different line.

It should have been 3.1, 95, 98, Me, XP home, Vista Home, 7 Home.

The other track would be 3.1, 3.11, NT, 2000, XP Pro, Vista Pro, 7 Pro.

IMHO that would make more sense.

Refused to use Vista. Been using Windows 7 since the free trial version. Upgraded. Still no crashes, and no problems.

I loved XP, and most of the things I loved about it are present in Win 7.

@andynaylor: Windows ME is a complete piece of poo and deserves to die. It`s the only Windows OS that I`ve had serious problems with, probably because the computer at my parents` house STILL HAS IT.

@duffytoler actually win 7 is pretty damn stable... it had a few kinks at launch but that was to be expected. I haven`t had a bsod yet and have been using it since the RC and it has been compatible with everything I`ve thrown at it. XP was king for a while but it just can`t compare anymore.

Ah, the memories. When I was 8 years old, we got our first desktop computer - a 386 @ 25mhz with DOS 5.0 - and I`ve used every one of those OS`s along the way. Thanks for making me feel old, Fancy.

Also, twatface.

@Crebabhain - Same here! I`d guess you, like me, have installed even more than was shown here.

WinNT
WinME (ick)
DrDOS
linux (many, many flavors)

But - I`m completely unfamiliar with anything Mac. Haven`t used an Apple since my IIe.

I would have been more interested to see this done not on a virtual machine, as I suspect hardware compatibility would have been a much bigger issue.

I can understand the attempts to run the old games, but I don`t see what the big deal with color schemes was. As the displays for later systems got more complex, it was not surprising that they wouldn`t support older configuration data...and it`s not like it is terribly hard to set up a similar scheme again.
