    I don`t think it sums up how depressing it is, but how meaningless it has become. Like CaptainPabst said, it`s a marketable service. I work for a process serving company and one of our clients is a company called The Divorce Store.

    @ zombunny - Random question, but I`ve always been curious..Do ALL process servers have to do stuff like this? vvv

    If so, I think I`ve definitely found my new career choice.

    Marriage contracts should have an automatic expiration.
    After 5 years it`s over unless you option to renew it.

    Simple. Easy. Low cost.

    @Ishii,
    Yes.

    Okay not really. The worst that happens to most servers is that someone yells at them. Guns have been pulled on people occasionally. It`s not exciting.

    I`ll have to take IAB`s word for it - divorce is like a blue gorilla.

    Gays and lesbians do. That`s why we`re fighting to be allowed to marry.

    Women are like a hurricane - when they come they`re wet and wild, but when they leave, they take half your f*cking house with them.

    This is only depressing to those who have a very limited view of what marriage is or has been. Throughout most of history, and the world, marriage had more to do with property and political bonds than romantic love. The institution fell into further irrelevance with legal enfranchisement of women, the widespread use of birth control, and the invention of paternity tests. Love is just as strong within humanity as it has ever been. Whatever spiritual bonds of fidelity, and exaltation thereof, you choose for you and your lover(s) is entirely personal. The rest is just paperwork.

    I certainly take mine seriously. The problem is people get married at the drop of a hat and divorces are a big business.
    As for all the gays and lesbians who want to get married, I say let them.
