Hey! Some of us were ridiculously and unfoundedly obsessed with cats before the internet.

I wonder if unfoundedly is actualy a word.

spot on with the unpredictable thought process.
if you cross a cat, it WILL ungreatfully claw you regardless of how long you`ve been the reason it has food and shelter and still isn`t hanging from the tree in the backyard.

1. the nose is not the teeth
2. touch stomach risk of awesome cuteness
3. cats > dogs

Psychodelli, I`ve found murder and empathy look very much the same when it comes to cats.

Mithraela-
Doubtful. My (girlfriend`s) two cats are mixed with Ocelot, and they`re freaking massive. They`re a cat and a half each, and they can jump like fleas. One of them, no poo, made it from the floor to on top of the ceiling fan.

If i may once again quote The Oatmeal, "The trick is to look into their eyes first. What do you see? Empathy? Or murder?"

"it has been shown that feline mouths have more harmful bacteria in them for humans"

While cat bites are certainly at risk for infection, I`d rather get bit by a cat than a human. Humans tend to carry pathogens that can infect humans. There are bacteria and viruses that can get passed between animals and humans, but you`re WAY worse off getting bit by a person.

anything animal that is slightly intricate is dirty apparently, i keep that in mind when my drool monkey eats cat poo, and drink from the taco bell infested bowels of the toilet. if you lack the patience to deal with a cat, you shouldnt touch one.

@McGovern1981

cats also eat their turds and lick their butts and other things... Just because you`ve never seen it doesn`t mean others haven`t.

it has been shown that feline mouths have more harmful bacteria in them for humans. Cat scratch fever comes from biting, licking or scraping of the skin by cat teeth. but I agree with Musuko42.

@evanbartlett: I have to disagree with your point about cats just "tolerating". I had a cat(who recently passed away) that was 15 years old. I owned her throughout her entire life since she was a kitten. Her mannerisms were that of a dog(for lack of a better explanation.) She came to me when I called, slept on the foot of my bed and yes, she graciously accepted belly rubs. If it wasn`t unconditional love, she wouldn`t have come to me for comfort in her last moments.

LOL ITT people who don`t know how to handle cats. You need to build trust with cats before you can pet them in certain areas.

They forgot to mention that their claws also hold quite a nasty bit of bacteria. Think about it, they dig with them through their litter box, I`m sure they can get some sort of nasty bug on there. I`ve been scratched by a cat before (MANY TIMES!) and they never just seem to heal and go away,. there`s always a little bit that becomes all sore and red and swollen.

I can`t help but think that people who love cats and hate dogs have some kind of imbalance associated with their ability to receive unconditional affection. Cats tolerate, dogs love.
