Not satisfied with anything, George Lucas is re-releasing Star Wars/Phantom Menace in 3-D. Convince me this won"t suck.

The only cool part will be the podrace. 3D has never really impressed me.

Every single one of you failures went and saw every movie. And I would bet dollars to donuts at least half of you own the DVDs of all six. This is the internet; you want to complain about meaningless crap: fine! But I`m calling you out on this one. The only reason you all say the prequel trilogy sucks is because the internet told you to say it. It`s cool to say 1-3 sucks. Makes you losers feel smart. Face it: A New Hope was made by a semi-experienced director with never heard of, hack actors. Ep. 1-3 was made with money, experience, and professional actors.
You can deny all you want but you know God damn good and well that you drating CAME IN YOUR PANTS when Yoda pulled out his little Light Saber for the first time.
And I DEFY you to prove otherwise.

From the link:

"Supervised by Industrial Light & Magic, the meticulous conversion is being done with utmost respect for the source material, and with a keen eye for both technological considerations and artistic intentions."

So, by my interpretation of that statement, they`re assigning the project to a bunch of drunken frat boys with developmental deficiencies?

Star Wars: Episode I utterly and absolutely sucked. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

I, like many others, complain and call this a cash grab. However I, like many others, will most likely still be sitting in the theatre for each one.

goaliejerry, the cgi things would be fine, but the people and anything not computer generated would have to be made digitally 3D and it just wont look good. this also means that if they do the originals, they will be horrible...think clash of the titans 3D.

I don`t know about you but I like a little story between people slapping light sabers together and watching big gray ships fly past my scene. I admit Ep. 1-3 had a bit of story, but it was so horribly thrown together with so many plot holes that it may as well have been nonexistent.

The first star wars wasn`t even necessary because of the amount of time that occurred between the first and second one; The only important fact that carried over was that they Anakin was a slave and they won a bet to get him.

Unfortunately, given the huge amount of information they just tell the audience by walking around or sitting around and talking about things that happened between the two movies, they really didn`t need a whole three hour movie to say, "Anakin was a slave."

Sorry but sitting through them once was torturous enough as it is.

"the only time 3D is alright is when its shot in 3D, which none of the star wars movies were"

Again, practically 93% of the movie is CGI using 3D models. It won`t be just treating the 2D version, it will be re-run through computers to create a technically different version. Have faith!

please be good please be good please be good! i wish they would make new movies expanding on the star wars universe. It kinda feels like they are kicking a dead horse. is that the expression?

The opening scene of Episode III in 3d? I say YES! I mean, the entire movie series was CGI, you know Lucas has the software copies of the entire movies, the conversion to 3D is merely a matter of reprocessing using modern computers, it will be sweet. Its not just treating the old film, it will be reprocessing the CGI using the 3D models used to create the movie in the first place.

I`m going, and it will be awesome.

Whats the problem? It could be sweet if done right.

You don`t watch Star Wars for the story, you watch it for Battlecruisers and epic lightsaber battles, of which there are plenty. Yeah, ok, that little kid`s acting sucked jar jar balls, but it was still fricken star wars.

If you don`t like it, you aren`t a real fan, so shutup and go see Twilight with your sister, pussy.

Stars Wars sucks. Remake the entire movie with Ben Browder as Han Solo and Micheal Cera as Luke Skywalker.

If you can`t make it good, make it 3D. I guess Lucas figures he can do it retroactively.

@auburnjunky 4K = 4096 x 2160 resolution (approx 8.85 megapixels), but the technology`s only at 24 FPS compared to 2K`s 48 FPS capability.

What`d I win for answering your rhetorical question?

@Helgarin -- Lucas is pushing 70, I`m sure once he`s gone it won`t be long before there is a series reboot or additional movies made by one of his greedy heirs. :)

If Lucas can make another buck on it, more power to him. But he won`t be getting my bucks for this. Jar Jar was bad enough in 2D.

Stars wars fan boy here.

I`m reasonably excited for this but I am just as disappointed that they won`t re-boot the entire series. Yes the landscapes will be cleaner but I want it to look darker, especially episodes 4-6.

Just look at KOTOR.

Also, Nageki, never once has a coporation or any advertisements ever told me what to think about 3D. I went to one by myself and it looked really cool. Of course it`s not 3D. Anyone looking at the picture without glasses can tell you that. But it sure as hell does a good job making it look like it`s 3D. Also, I was born with terrible depth perception.

I hate that I know what you`re talking about.

Anyways, this is dumb. Nobody likes you`re sterile, cartoon backgrounds, George Lucas, don`t make it stand out more because it looks like ass.

so i never cared about starwars in the first place, and does 3d really make things better?

Male 110
The problem I see is 3D causes loss of depth perception and no one seems to know that in the public. Now most, if not all, of the companies who put out 3D material know this and still want you to buy into the 3D hype. That`s all it is is hype by the way. There have been studies showing that "3D" is a misnomer, we can`t really produce 3D on a 2D screen. Anyone remember the Virtual Boy by Nintendo? They did studies on their 3D, then buried them deep and stopped selling the Virtual Boy. Why? They found what I mentioned earlier. Stop thinking what big business keeps telling you to think and think for yourself, please.

First of all, this is not a reboot. It`s a re-release.

Secondly, 3-d movies will die off once 4K gets affordable. How many video nerds know what 4K is? lol

first one will suck, but Episode 3 would be cool in 3d and it will be interesting to see how the originals look when converted

i`m a huge star wars fanboy. and i cannot f ucking wait. i like 1, 2 and 3 and obviously love 4, 5 and 6 and i enjoy 3D - at the end of the day that`s not going to be the only format for them.

Unfortunately, 3D movies are here to stay this time. The theaters are suffering, and this is the only thing selling tickets for now.

Of course, nothing will make episode one not suck. But the other 5 should do better.

Personally, I`ll wait til I get a 3D capable screen at home and watch them on disc. I`m done with going to the theaters.

Why is giving it a 3D option that horrendous? Still the same characters, storyline, actors. Just a different way to view it.
