The two genders of a species are never supposed to be equal. Equality is a make-believe concept, conceived by the insane and the genius alike, albeit for different reasons. Equality... just doesn`t work.

    Silly feminist crap.

"Until the answer is yes, we must never stop asking".

How about I answer no, yet you will stop asking anyway because the answer is no.

Also, some of those statistics are wrong, but I won`t get into that...

want to be equal? shave your head when you join the service and have every woman when they turn 18 sign up for the selective service, want to be equal? lift the same weight and bare the same stress in every job. Want to be equal? Stop asking for it, and make it happen yourself.

couldn`t agree more, men and women ARE different, as such we have different opportunities.
I, personally, would LOVE to spend a year with my child and develop a bond that needs full time contact, but i can`t because I am a man and I accept that. I accept that women are physically more suited to nurture young children.
We are different, we should celebrate the differences, not try to hide them and ignore them simply because it doesn`t fit with an overly simplistic ideology.
And the nonsense about women getting paid less is ignoring a huge number of factors about human life. Take any specific job and compare a woman in it and a man. That`s the only way to measure inequity in pay - I`ve yet to find an example where the pay is different.

As much as I believe in equality for women, there is a bit of intellectual dishonesty here. Some of these statistics are worldwide. We already know that women are treated like sh*t in many African and Asian countries. Unfortunately, we (the secular west) don`t have control over it. If we try, then some of the same people complaining about inequality turn around and say we are being "imperialist" for imposing our standards on others.

In the western world there are still problems though, however they are more difficult to solve. For example, the corporate landscape is structured to favor masculine behavioral patterns (a consequence of being exclusively male for centuries of development). The way to solve it is exactly what happens now, women entering the landscape and pointing out and fighting the inequalities. As long as something destructive like affirmative action doesn`t become prevalent, true equality is in the near future.

TKD Master- So true. I hate that.

Also, you may just get your wish ladies. The men`s college drop-out rate is soaring, and the women`s dropout rate is not. If this trend continues, in 20 or so years there will be more college educated women in the work force then men. I don`t know what this means, but it sure as hell is ominous.

I think men produce this crap to make women feel like they`re not equal. It`s a conspiracy!

Seriously though. Women earn less because we take non-profit and socially conscious jobs more often than men. A female executive is more likely to work at a non-profit than a bank and hence is less likely to make the big evil dollars he does.
Then the media will turn around and tell you that women make less because the system is unfair. They ignore other factors that contribute to their data to make it say what they want.

Of course men and women aren`t seen as equal on hardly any level. If they were, then society would have fewer issues with homosexuality, mtf or ftm transsexuals, hermaphrodites, transvestites, androgyny, etc. I have always felt that society`s biggest issue with these things is not caused by religion, but by our innate desire to distinguish and separate out that which is different, and keep things defined to give us an elevated sense of safety. The problem is that people remain stupid about what they think those differences mean even after being "educated." When the barriers we think exist are crossed the "airwaves" become full of ignorant bullschit and chicken littles spouting random crap. It is all about perception and reveals humankinds greatest weaknesses.

Who is going to raise the children of America when both men and women are working equally to support the family financially?

Why would a woman choose a full time job over staying at home, taking care of her family? Sure, she should have the right to make that choice, but feminists are always trying to make the choice for the rest of the women.

    @mithraela

Religion is the maximum representation of human`s need to feel
different and/or chosen. It`s even the way we try to define ourselves
as non-animals through supernatural ways and "moral" restrictions (That
are in fact biological senses for survival)

Our world is the way it is because of the birth of religion many
years ago, and we can`t change that in such a short time... And I mean
that in a very very inherent way, even if we get rid of religions, we
would still have Religious practices; And I don`t mean prayers or something
like that, just thoughts and actions that we do just because we have been
    doing so for ever

@cheerios18 That is how they compare, not me. I agree they are not the same job. What I am saying is that they don`t factor in the difference between for profit and non-profit sectors when they take the survey. Which is important because more women work in the non-profit sector than men and which pays less.

@Cobra This is true, and I agree the wife of an immoral business man is just as guilty as the immoral business man himself. They`re both living large at the expense of their employees or the general public. (Not that I am saying all business people are evil, I`m talking about the Walmarts of the world.)

more women are subject to sexual assault because they aren`t many gay rapists. additionally, you must realized that sexual assault boils down to making someone submit to you through strength. sorry ladies, but men, on average, are stronger than you. i won`t say that we were "built for combat" or anything ludicrous like that, but facts are facts, the average man has more muscle mass than the average woman.

also, there is a reason that more men are put into political office than women. they`re voted for by the people as a whole. if there was a woman deserving of being in office, then she would have been elected. and there have been many women who have been deserving of office, and have been elected.

There`s another important reason - far fewer women than men want to be elected to political office.

Here in the UK, the previous government was feminist enough to repeal some of the old sexual equality laws that were inconveniently sex-neutral in language and replace them with antimale sexism laws, right up to and including making it legal to block all men from standing for election to political office.

Even with such extreme antimale sexism, they still couldn`t get more than a few women who wanted the jobs, even when they were just being given political office for being female.

It won`t matter how much antimale sexism there is, it will never be enough.

Men have a choice of either bowing down, aplogising for being male and accepting inferior legal and social status and still just being the target of scorn and bigotry (e.g. cheerios18, LemonTarte and all the multitude like them) or rejecting the idea that being male is bad and wrong.

I damn well demand sexual equality and anyone who doesn`t like it can go drat a pig. I don`t care what sexism anyone supports against anyone. It`s all wrong and I`ll have none of it. It`s unfair, irrational and just plain stupid. I`d go as far as to call it insane.

There are very few circumstances where a person`s sex is genuinely relevant. In all other circumstances, it should be ignored. It`s not a defining feature. Individuals are individuals.

Some aspects of that are true, and some not so much.

Women will always be at a disadvantage politically. Take a look at the last 100 years of US politics:
How often has the candidate with the deeper voice won.
How often has the larger candidate won?

    I`d wager >90% for both.

Notthatbored, I think M mentioned something about the SAME job.

I can mention that the USA is secretly run by a council of 18 shire horses, 3 pegasi and a dryad. That doesn`t mean it`s true.

In fact, that would be a better claim because it hasn`t already been repeatedly proven false and it isn`t obviously impossible.

Do you really think that all the advertised wages and salaries are for women only and every employer has a secret higher pay scale for men that nobody ever blows the whistle on? That degree of conspiracy theory is beyond ludicrous.

... why? Are you suggesting the ability to sign up to IAB are gender specific? Are you secretly all robots and incapable of reading captchas?

The important part here is equal opportunity. Not similarity. IAB is an example of that. There is no reason you can`t comment like you did.

Now, what`s left? Females are biologically OR socially conditioned to make this occur.

    Here we go:
Taller candidate got more votes in 64% of cases.
    Shorter in 36% of cases.
(Removing data for same height candidates).

Couldn`t find data this quickly on deeper voices, but seriously, overall we`re almost hardwired to look for manliness in a leader.

    Taller: Better.
    Stronger: Better.
    Healthier: Better.
    Deeper voice: Better.

Women therefore who are on average less of all of these, suffer worse. None of these however have anything to do with changing laws.

Though I guess you could make candidates anonymous, and use the same computer generated voice for all of them or something...

I am getting rather fed up of men whinging about how hard done by they are. After fighting to be recognised as equals women now find they have been turned into mindless Barbies. Free choice- to get surgery and flash your fake tits for the lads- or be ridiculed for not being good to look at. None of you would swap- because none of you have a clue.

@Angilion what are you on about?

My point was that women DO usually get equal pay and if you didn`t get that then you need to reread my post. Or where you directing your point at Cheerio?

@Baalthazaq Where are you getting that data from? It sounds a little skewed. I`d be interested to know your source.

I was reply to a post from her, which was why I quoted her post and not yours. If I was replying to you, I would have quoted your post.

It would make things better if IAB had some commenting software that wasn`t so bad it might have been cobbled together decades ago for a school project, but we can`t do anything about that.

I wish you could swap, because you don`t have a clue. It would be amusing to see you "whinging".

A woman complains about sexism - she`s strong, she`s brave, she`s fighting for equality.

A man complains about about sexism - he`s whinging.

Are you really unable to see a double-standard that big?

Ideally, I`d like everyone to change sex at random intervals. That would get rid of sexism pretty quickly. Although it would complicate relationships.

"less likely to be judged for promiscuous behavior"...

Well, if a key opens lots of locks, it`s a master key

if locks get opened by lots of keys, it`s a pooty lock..

I get so tired of all these discussions. I live in Sweden, so I hear them A LOT. Feminists are exactly the same as misogynists, allthough they are respected for it.
The feminist initiative, FI, was a real political party some years ago (that almost got enough votes to go to parliament), and on their private "opening" party, they listened to music with lyrics like:

Watch out you f*cking men! Because here comes a woman, and she`ll f*cking kill you with a knife...
    (sadly, I`m not even exaggerating)

and they were all cheering and poo. I know this because a show called "insider" filmed it and showed it on tv.
    Feminists s u c k!
I`m all for equality, but I f*cking hate faminists. (at least in sweden)

Of course women will never be equal to men when it comes down to physical strength. And men will never be equal to women either.

But: A study (by Gardiner if you must know :p) shows that when a woman enters a profession that previously was dominated by men, this profession will lose status....

A lot of these are just traits of men and women in general that lead to that result, not because we aren`t "equals", in that sense.

Take for example the domestic violence one. That`s not something about us not being "equal" or not, it`s more just a problem of domestic violence in general. Some women beat their men as well. It`s just that men are more likely to be more aggressive and hurt a woman than the other way around. In fact if you want to talk about equal, talk to one of my friends who had a girl beat up a guy in the middle of the hallway, but teachers blamed the guy for it just because of their genders.

    Feminists can go screw themselves.

Two years after I killed Blyth I murdered my young brother Paul, for quite different and more fundamental reasons than I`d disposed of Blyth, and then a year after that I did for my young cousin Esmerelda, more or less on a whim.

That`s my score to date. Three. I haven`t killed anybody for years, and don`t intend to ever again.

As has been stated multiple times in this post, all the support programs, and recognition days, freebies, etc etc that women get do not equate equality.

If we are so equal, women should be able to thrive without all that support, amirite?

For those of you claiming that feminists hate men, feminists want to be treated better than men, feminists want women to abandon their families, are you really so ignorant that you`ll believe what a few crazy extremists say and do is representative of an entire group of people? Do you think all Muslims are terrorists too?

I am a feminist. An honest-to-god feminist. I am a single working mother, not because I can`t keep a man or I hate men, but because my ex is a jerk and things just didn`t work out. I like men. Some of my best friends are male. I have a boyfriend who I love and respect, and I treat him exactly the way I wish to be treated in return. I work because I have to and because I like having a job. I used to be a stay at home mom. I am not against women choosing to stay home with the kids if they want. I`m not against men choosing it either. I only want it to be a true choice, and not something that is forced on them.

And yes, I shave my legs.

Currently, women and children still get to go first if the ship is sinking, or in a hostage negotiation, while the men must choose to stay behind without complaint.
Once women and men aren`t divided when it`s actually a matter of life and death, women can demand equal pay for equal work.
    Until then, enjoy your 70%.

I agree that a lot of these comments are depressing because they`re filled with over generalization and stereotypes. Not all feminists are extremists and not all men (though it is discouraging from the comments) believe women are inferior.
Things like religion and biology will always keep us separate, but there`s no reason that women should be seen as `less strong` because both genders are strong in different ways. It`s like comparing apples to oranges. =)

men and women ARE different, the only way to have this equity every ugly ass feminist squeals about is to be treated differently. Men and women drive in different ways, so there is different insurance rates. Women and men have different body strenght, so there is separate sport categories. I could go on forever. The point is the only thing in which men and women are equal is both are humans and deserve the same respect. Not the same everything.

The auto-censoring on IAB is dishonest and idiotic. It`s allegedly so hard-coded into IAB that it`s impossible to change.

It results in things such as being unable to refer to a certain town in England on IAB, not even in a link. AOL did the same in the 90s and was soundly ridiculed for it (even more than usual) and even they managed to do better at least 15 years ago.

The town is S c u n t h o r p e. Or, as IAB insists on falsely claiming people are writing, Smean personhorpe.

I just find it heartbreaking when I see men (and sometimes women) saying such hateful things about feminism when it`s something I believe so strongly in.

And Nick Griffin might well be heartbroken when people say hateful things about his nationalistic racism, which he believes so strongly in.

I once saw an interview with some pro-white racist guy in the USA and he was genuinely upset by "white" people who didn`t think "inter-racial" marriages were morally wrong.

People who believe so strongly in irrational prejudices can sometimes get heartbroken when those prejudices are challenged.

And I don`t give a poo about that. You people make your choice to promote bigotry and I make mine to hold you in contempt for doing so.

Ah, the predictable response of "not all feminists are extremists" is thrown out repeatedly, as usual.

It`s a very effective way to dismiss points you know you can`t argue against, by pretending they only apply to a hugely unrepresentative subgroup.

    It`s also a lie.

People haven`t been talking about the extreme end of feminism. They`ve been talking about the mainstream.

The extreme end of feminism includes advocating a final solution to the male problem, although more moderate extremists are fine with culling and enslavement for use as breeding animals and for dirty jobs.

And no, I am not exaggerating. Feminism covers the entire spectrum of antimale sexism and that`s the extreme end. Which nobody is talking about. The claims that people are doing so are just a useful way to ignore inconvenient truths about mainstream feminism.

While I`m on a roll, I`ll address all the "women are this, men are that, we can`t be equal" bullpoo.

Anyone who actually believed that sort of thing would have no problem with bona fide sexual equality in which no-one is defined or judged by their sex. You wouldn`t be advocating sexist stereotyping because you wouldn`t think it was necessary. If reality matched up with your beliefs, then a completely free rein would lead to everyone conforming to your stereotypes anyway, without any need for social conditioning.

Therefore you don`t believe what you`re saying. So why should anyone else?

Sean Connery wears skirts, Daniel Craig wears dresses. I always thought 007 was a manly man!

It`s just some cloth. The whole idea of masculinity and femininity is just made up anyway, so it can change and often does. The most obvious example in this context would be that Roman legionaries wore skirts and they were about as manly as you can get. Roman men in general were, at least until Rome became powerful enough to become degenerate, very manly and they wore short dresses (above the knee - covering your legs was feminine).

@Angilion Well... maybe the reason it is so "usual" for people say that is because it`s true, not all feminists are extremists. Just like not all Christians are Mormons.

I would consider myself to be somewhat of a "feminist" but I certainly don`t want to solve the male "problem". Nor am I "ugly". I simply believe that women are entitled to equal protection under the law, the right to choose, and there should be strict punishments for sex offenders.

That doesn`t mean I think women should all be able to sexually harass men, put them in cages, and take their jobs to give to women with less merit.

Don`t stereotype me and lump me into some small category of women that quite honestly I have never met.

You proudly proclaim that you are about female people. That`s what feminism is - a biological group advocacy ideology in which the favoured group is female people. In order for that to be true, you must define and judge people by their sex. You can`t be about female people unless you define people on the basis of whether or not they are female and judge people who aren`t as either less worthy or unworthy.

@Angilion Well... maybe the reason it is so "usual" for people say that is because it`s true, not all feminists are extremists. Just like not all Christians are Mormons.

Obviously it`s true that most feminists are not extremists. The point is that it`s not a relevant truth. As I wrote before:

It`s a very effective way to dismiss points you know you can`t argue against, by pretending they only apply to a hugely unrepresentative subgroup.

    It`s also a lie.

People haven`t been talking about the extreme end of feminism. They`ve been talking about the mainstream.

It`s a way of dismissing legitimate criticism of mainstream feminism by falsely claiming that the person making it is a bigot irrationally considering only the extremists and smearing the mainstreamers with the extremism.

In short, it`s ad hominem because they know that the actual criticism is true - that`s why they can`t counter it.

    Your not being clear though...

"It`s a way of dismissing legitimate criticism of mainstream feminism by..."

"Obviously it`s true that most feminists are not extremists."

If most feminists are not extremists, as we have agreed, then really the "mainstream" feminism is not extreme. It`s just those couple of over sensationalized people who spew their crap all over the internet that give the impression that it is.
