Perhaps the doctor knows there is a safety risk with using acetone, especially on the head (where it might get into the eyes).

Or even if there isn`t a safety risk, if this "treatment" hasn`t been medically tested, then I can`t see how the doctor can justafiably recommend it without the full facts of the potential consequences.

Yes, anecdotally, you all know that acetone will remove it...but do you REALLY want your doctors prescribing treatments to you based on anecdotes?

The doctor here knew that the safest thing to do was leave it to come off in time.

Safety > a few days of embarrassment.

it has been bothering my quite a bit why that doctor didn`t tell him right away to go home and rub nail polish remover on it (you know those guys had some) and then it hit me, that Doctor probably knew that acetone takes off super glue. He was just having a little fun with stupid people. If I was as quick thinking as this Doctor I would do the same.

...well it is good to know that it only took 12 hours and not two or three days. I like a happy ending. :-)

I wish I could go to the doctor to get a super glued hat off of my head and not have to pay for it. I wonder how much this would cost someone in America.

Oh just to point out to those confused, in the UK "Fancy Dress" is another term for Costume, so a Fancy Dress Party is a Costume Party.

Next time: Spirit gum. It sticks REALLY well - and it usually comes with a remover.
dumb question, wtf is A&E?
Accident and Emergency. The ER basically.
I guess they don`t require British medical students to take chemistry
They usually do, but then they spend 5 years learning exclusively medicine at university before they even become a junior doctor, so it`s probably understandable that they may have forgotten some of the aspects of school work that aren`t essential to their vocation.

Maths is usually a requirement for medicine too, but I wouldn`t criticise my doctor for not remembering the integral of cos(x) because he`s been busy learning medical stuff for 5 years.

I guess they don`t require British medical students to take chemistry, else the doctor would have known that you can easily remove superglue with acetone which is the main ingredient in fingernail polish remover.

I wonder, what kind of outfit was the tiny hat a part of? Must have been something incredibly lame.

Or Incredibly faaabulous <3

She said it was `fancy dress theme` so I`m guessing he probably wore some sort of suit/vest/tophat type theme..

@PinkHomicide - Probably acetone, it`s found in nail vanish remover. Not too sure about the risks to the eyes with that stuff though... can`t be worse than superglue though. :P

They have the ability to take that off with out making him wait. When I was three I super glued my eye shut - parent`s think i may have assumed the tube was makeup. And they were able to open my eye that day with some sort of solution. I can`t think of what it was but my mom said it was something common and she already had at home and wished she had known so the Dr. bill could have been avoided.

@alk3v: That just makes you sound like a right pillock ;) Then again, you`d have to be a bit of a div to glue a hat to your head, so maybe you`re right.

well, good thing typical superglue was originally sesigned as a replacement for stitches and will dissolve sloly in a wet and worm environment, say a cut in your skin so thats not as gar off as it seems. still, nice looks.

Then again, I probably wouldn`t have super glued it to my head.
