@kummi90 I agree that anthropomorphizing is generally a silly thing, if not completely full of fallacy wholes, but we can`t totally rule out something here! Yes the dog is probably not feeling "guilt" at all--although truly we`ll never know, but I`m siding with you here.... however, he KNOWS he did something wrong because he has been able to correlate that certain actions (we`ll call eating kitty food action A) may and often do elicit responses from owners that the dog simply doesn`t like. While there may be no guilt for the action themselves, dogs definitely exhibit reactions based upon their owners actions.

Just like the old counting horse trick proven to be false (hoax is stretching it). A horse would be told to count to a certain number by stomping his feet, and the horse did so until they could pick up on subtle--usually not seeable by human eyes--changes in their master`s behavior, inadvertently clueing the horse to stop counting at the correct answer. I could have flipping cried... Poor little fellow only wanted his pussy snacks, and like so many others, was locked up for taking it without permission...

@kummi90 I disagree. When my dog knew he`d been caught doing something he shouldnt, he`d put his ears down, shy away, tail between legs etc. He KNEW he`d done wrong. Guilt.

Wrong. Dogs can NOT feel guilt. It is not in their emotional range. People have to stop anthropomorphizing their pets, it`s wicked annoying. Although this vid was cool. Dogs DO NOT feel guilt.

awwww... look at `im put his best smile on... he`s so guilt ridden... my dog does this when he knows he did something bad too. actually i can usually tell before i even find whatever it is he did. if he`s lookin at the floor when i come in the door i know i need to look around the house for SOMETHING.

Aww, that is the guiltiest looking dog I`ve ever seen. I don`t know if cats know when they`ve misbehaved (or maybe they just don`t care), but dogs definitely do.

Haha, that face is weird. That`s the face my dog used to pull before chewing the poo outta something. It`s baring its teeth. But the music makes it looks like the dog is crying! My mind = blown.

lol the music and the guy`s tone of voice make it perfect XD

I figured someone would think that the dog was abused. But his tail didn`t go between his legs, he wasn`t trembling or trying to hide, he went right to his kennel, there`s nothing wrong with that. When our dogs do something wrong they usually hang their head. they shy away a bit but they`ve never gotten anything besides a stern word and being locked in the kennel or the bedroom. some dogs are just like that.

So sorry @Braber01, I know how sad that is. It`s for the best though, I put a kitty down a month ago, still miss him! And Sylvester (1999) and Rocky (2003)...

those dogs are very well trained.

and to show what I know, I never thought a dog would eat cat treats.

awwww poor puppy!! lol

for those who might think he was abused, stop. this dog is obviously very well taken care of, and was either responding to hand signals or was very well trained in this particular routine. he`s a healthy size, his coat is shiny, and he didn`t react like a typical abused dog. so calm down, the puppy has nothing more than a bruised ego :p

Completely agree with Swaywithme. Labs are very loyal dogs also, when they get into trouble they react probably more disappointingly than other dogs.

I think my favorite part is at the end when he looks at the other dog just sitting there and goes "...and you just let it happen -____- "

"Might I just add that if this dog reacts like this when he has done something wrong, he has most likely had experiences of violent abuse in the past. I`m not saying this guy did it, but this isn`t funny, the dog is frightened."

That was my first guess- but seriously the dog just seems really well trained after all. There`s NOTHING the guy does that even implies violence, there`s no reason for the pup to react that way aside from seeing an empty package of treats. The guy`s voice is so quiet and calming and he doesn`t raise his voice once. If it was abused by a past owner- the new owner seems to be taking remarkable care of him. The dog just knows it wasn`t supposed to. He goes to his kennel with barely a second thought.

That doesn`t work with my dogs, though. If one does something bad, they both act super guilty.

I have a dog and whenever she rolls over on her back and I pet her belly, she shows me her teeth too. I thought it was weird but she doesn`t growl, bite, or get aggressive. I think that`s just how some dogs show emotion, I think it`s funny!

"Dude. That dog looked abused. That`s not normal dog body language. I certainly hope he adopted an abused dog or taught the dog to act like that on command." that`s not an abused dog, that`s an intelligent retriever that understands he`s done wrong. You`ve obviously never owned one before...

jd ure an idiot. that perfectly normal "smart" dog behavior.. you`ve just never had a smart dog before..

the teeth are the dogs way of being submissive.. my dog does it when hes really happy.. and he bites my arm to.. really soft. his way of saying hi i like you

A cat would be like "Yeah, I did it. What are you gonna do about it, bitch?"
