You guys sent help to the british army, did a good job, were not discussing that, and also fought japan. After germany was defeated (once again, the USSR did most of the job), only japan stood fighting. Without asking the rest of the allies, you droped 2 nukes killing about 250k of people (how many innocents?).
After ww2 was over, you spent 40 years fighting the ones that really beat the nazis. Great job.
So yeah, i do think "the United States was able to clean up Europe! =D" is a light expression, and should be corrected.

Really? Ever heard of the Allies? It was a operation between many many countries. Please dont take all the credit for it, do please mention the brits, who did a great great deal of fighting.
Now if were going to talk about defeating the germans, just use wikipedia and read, youll notice that the USSR did most the work, they single handled the eastern front from its beggining to its end (Operation Bagration anyone?)
Basically they were able to take in all the damage made by the nazis, recovered, and attacked back.

Holy dear God. I couldn`t get a headshot at a thousand yards given an entire 440 round crate on my Mosin Nagant, and I`m willing to bet I couldn`t with the Rem. 700 even with luck on my side. Longest shot I`ve ever even HIT a human silhouette, probably by accident, is at 400 meters, much less a headshot/chestshot on the third freaking try...a true legend, a god among men. He really deserves every honor he`s given. We salute you, Ted Gundy.

@MauserTM

I suppose you think France freed itself and Italy, Japan and about half of Germany surrendered to the US because they thought they were being mean. You sould take your own advice.

That is what a real legend is capable of. Just the amount of time that has gone by since the last time he fired a gun like that is astounding but to see him still able to shoot like a pro shows he deserves to wear that hat.

And forgive the flooding of comments, I watched the vid in segments. But they need to frame that target or something because I highly doubt ANYONE will EVER get three headshots in a 5 inch grouping at a thousand yards ever again. Dude just goes to show what someone who`s used to making precision kills with old equipment can do if allowed a run with modern equipment made for making such shots `easier`

and 300 yards with a 30-06 round?! Holy cow! Each of those three shots would probably have been fatal, even if they weren`t center mass.

God this is just the kinda crap the Army would pull. Seriously, a black baseball cap as the highest award they could give a sniper? You`re technically not even supposed to wear this thing in uniform?!

You don`t get bonus points in war for giving the other guy a chance to kill you first. Queensbury Rules do not apply.

Also, this guy is cool. I`m glad he got a black cap. I definitely admire the way Americans treat their vets.

Clean up Europe? read some history and dont stick with the movies please.

Also, it is still pretty cool what this man can do, really impressive, 3 headshots with a rifle he had never used and at age of 86! Damn it!

Lazyme: All`s fair in war, Snipers save their fellow soldiers lives by eliminating the threats to them, those threats include enemy snipers.

The lesson being, You do not fire on American soldiers unless you have a death wish.

Perfect aim is when you kill your enemy before he kills you or your buddies. Bad aim is when you at least make him poo his pants.

On a side note, keyholing is a very specific term in the firearm world that actually means your bullet is tumbling end to end and punches a `keyhole` shape from striking with the side of the bullet, not that the bullets are in a single hole.

It is not a good thing, and we aren`t talking about robin hood.

LazyMe484-
it`s a target...
plus, he fought for our country a long time ago, so yes, he is a hero.
The nobility of it here is the honor of receiving the black cap for service and performance, not for slaughter, relax
and given the situation of combat, I think I would prefer taking down the person from a distance rather than having them shoot at me, few people holding large guns in combat seem to have a change of heart mid attack...

Male 440
It was a five inch grouping but he was supposed to be aiming at the centre of the target NOT the head. I`d still be dead if he was shooting at me so i`m going to shut up now...

@LazyMe484, do you feel sorry for the cows who didn`t stand a chance when you dig into a hamburger? sure, war sucks, but you`re naive if you think it isn`t (at times) necessary.

Why is sniping turned into something so noble and emotional? you`re killing someone at range with no chance of self defense, for what purpose other than war? Disgusting. The american flags in the background don`t help.

"Aw, I thought they meant perfect aim! Perfect aim is where you keyhole 2 bullets"

I hope your kidding. He hit a target from 1000 yards with a 5 inch grouping. That`s about as good as it gets.

Byfield, keyholing very rarely happens outside a covered range. I used to shoot .22 at 30 yards at a 92point average. Keyholing was not commonplace in my cards, let alone at a 1000 yards with a crosswind. Learn to shoot a rifle before you shoot your mouth.
