Recall that Texas church shooting a few years ago? Jeanne Assam saved people that day. That church kicked her out. Why?

@fattpill- your original assessment was valid, yet you fell prey to the very conflict you were warning about. However, I have the feeling that your intent was not nearly as noble as you pretend it was as the overt use of caps implies belligerence. You have also illustrated why so many non theist have a problem with religious folk. You were literally doing the exact opposite of what you say is the word of god, while telling someone it is the word of god, and should be obeyed. I appreciate the sentiment you were proclaiming, however the manner in which you did it was contrary to the very essence of what you were saying. I am not sure if you were aware of this discrepancy, but am sure you will look for a response to what you thought was a clever retort, so please accept this as an observation and nothing more.

Why would she continue in a religion that persecutes gay people anyways. It states in the Bible it`s an abomination. So believing in it means you go to hell. Start your own damn church and tell them ungrateful sumbiches to suck it. Or in her case, lick it.

@fattpill, aren`t you stirring up strife by frequenting a forum full of people you consistently disagree with just to argue?

So either they didn`t kick her out or they`re changing their position now that she`s embarrassed them publicly. I`m guessing it`s the latter. Why would she have any reason to lie?

@fattpill so if I understand you correctly, what you`re saying is you don`t like that IAB displays actual event`s that are really happening and gives people a place to discuss said events, because it makes everyone argue... A. have you been on the internet? Ever? because people tend to argue there. B. You`re probably just butthurt because, I infer from your picture there, you are a Christian and don`t like stories that make Christians or churches look bad. Get used to it, most stories about the church are going to make it look bad because... wait for it... it is bad.

This shouldn`t come as a surprise to anybody. The church has a history of kicking out gays.
Hey IAB, I`m still bored.

Religious people are control freaks. From the moment this brave woman started getting attention, the church leaders started looking for a way to take her down. Same reason they hate secular music, or anything that detracts from their power base.

Two sentences was enough, fool. The rest of the article definitely does not contradict the first two sentences.

Even if I didn`t read the article at all, my opinion could still be valid...

I`m interested to know what actually happened. My guess is that they wanted her to go to a center to be "cured" of her homosexuality as a condition of continuing her membership with the church. Again, that`s just a guess- but based on the fact that Ted Haggard did just that after his homosexuality was exposed.
Yeah im with the church on this one, it say`s in the bible that it is a Abomination against him.
1) No it doesn`t. You`re obviously very ignorant of your own holy book. You should be ashamed of that.

I bet you don`t even know what to`ebah means (it isn`t `abomination`), or what verses apply to homosexuality between women (none of them - all the verses that might or might not apply to homosexuality are male-specific) or why you think that 1 rule from Judaism is crucial to Christianity while most of the other 612 can be ignored. Actually, I bet you didn`t even know that`s what you`re doing or what most of the other rules are.

2) The church has stated, publically and unequivocally, that they did not kick her out, that she`s a hero to them, that she`s always welcome at the church and they don`t expel anyone for being homosexual.

i`m sure the church said that they would accept her, as long as she underwent counseling or some other type of therapy to "heal" her of her "sins". that`s just how churches are. they will "accept" anyone as long as you are making efforts to be more like them.

If you`re too lazy to read what actually happened then your opinion is meaningless.

“We welcome everyone at New Life. We would never tell someone to leave because of their sexual orientation. Jeanne will always be a hero at New Life.”

^^ Yep, sounds like they kicked her out alright.

Most churches will not kick someone out for being gay, unless they are really extreme. However, taken off a leadership role.. that could be a possibility depending on your church`s stance on homosexuality. Im sure that if, for example, someone in my church`s worship team were to come out gay nothing too serious would happen. =P

If it was a gay man I`d be on board with the, but you know,
lesbians are kinda nasty. Flannel overdose and they
don`t shave their pits. And they fight a lot.

Interesting. Normally, I would be inclined to believe the woman, but the church denies they kicked her out. She should go back just to call their bluff. If they welcome her back, she`s proven wrong. If they don`t, she`s proven right.
