"Show me where they`ve used those recordings to try (albeit pathetically in this case) to publicly humiliate somebody who hasn`t committed any crime?"

Just because someone isn`t doing anything illegal- does that mean it`s okay for their conversations to be monitored? Why stop at audio recording? Once the door is opened- it is inevitable that it will slowly be opened wider and wider UNTIL or UNLESS someone slams it shut.

It`s an invasion- plain and simple; we`re all supposed to be assumed innocent until proven guilty, what kind of society permits the perpetual probing of it`s citizens on a regular basis in search of something incriminating? Is that the freedoms we are promised?

"Too bad George Soros gives more money to the Socialist left in a year than the Koch brothers have in their entire lives. But never let the facts stand in the way of a good witch trial. "

Too Bad Virtually all corporate donations, Rupert Murdoch and Lobbyist money goes towards Conservative Candidates...

Are you`re doing is looking stupid and childish using words like "Libtard" and claiming that any political ideology has more money behind it than any other- they`re all overly funded and under-performing.

"Unions are a cancer in the workforce. They keep underachieving workers in jobs that they get paid too much for."

The minimum wage, health-care in the workplace, non-discrimination, workmans comp, vacations, working/workplace standards, lunch breaks, 401-k and retirement plans, sick-pay and overtime:

Thank Unions.

If anything Unions need reform and modernization. The old system of seniority was a protection that is no longer necessary- because of social nets in place, old people no longer have to work their entire lives and guaranteeing them jobs is no longer a necessity like it was when the system was created.

I see people vilifying something that has played and will continue to play an important role in the American workers life- what we need is Union REFORMING, not Union BUSTING.

Figure out what you don`t like about Unions and talk about CHANGE not destruction and you`ll get better results for everyone.

Unions are a cancer in the workforce. They keep underachieving workers in jobs that they get paid too much for. If you want a good job and to be paid well for your work? Then work hard. I agree with busting unions but don`t agree with the way this guy is going about it.

The U.S. education system has failed by every measurable standard.

Why pay for poor performance!
This is not Wall Street!

"...the education system of Mississippi..."

Yeah, because as we all know, more government spending improves education so much...

...oh, wait...

"Wisconsin 2014.......metropolitan areas resemble Detroit,"

Uh, huh. Unions are the reason Detroit is a poohole. They made American car manufacturers uncompetitive.

Yep, because the eevuullzzz Koch Industries has such a stake in busting PUBLIC SECTOR unions.

The only people with egg on their faces is the left-wing blogosphere for running with this. Knowing what kind of inane tactics his opposition is willing to engage in will only make Independants support Walker.

Wisconsin 2014.......metropolitan areas resemble Detroit, rural areas Appalachia, the education system of Mississippi, the rail system of Bangladesh. thousands of the children and elderly cut off from health care. Should be quite the surprise for his supporters.

His motives were already pretty obvious without the recorded phonecall. Nice to see him with a little egg on his face, but really, it`s very clear to me and probably most people that this is about union busting, not budgeting.

You probably don`t know anybody with more than an 8th grade education, period. Including yourself.

I thought that said "masochist" at first. Probably fits just as well. No doubt he gets all worked up making a fool of himself the way he did.

Don`t know much about Walker, but after I watched this video, I like him. Carried himself like a principled, small-government conservative.

It`s hilarious the way libtards try to demonize the Koch brothers. Too bad George Soros gives more money to the Socialist left in a year than the Koch brothers have in their entire lives. But never let the facts stand in the way of a good witch trial.

All this does too anybody with a brain is make liberals look stupid and childish, which they are.

Elections have consequences. Google FDR`s views on collective bargaining rights for public sector employees or Frank Ziebler (Milwaukee;s mayor 1948-1960, committed socialst) as well. Doesn`t make for good sound bytes...

Wisconsinite here, I am generally conservative but not a republican or democrat, I am just embarrassed by both parties in this state. I have a Gov. being a dippoo, and Dems. acting like children that don`t want to take a bath. If you want budget cuts let`s start at the top and work our way down. And don`t forget the parking checkers, god how I hate them...

If someone had managed to prank Obama like this there would a lot less laughing about it and the prankster would`ve been picked up by the secret service for a thorough questioning, at the very least.

I have no sympathy for the good Governor, personally or politically. Journalists do this sort of thing all the time, if not by lying about who they are, than by creating a tone of false camaraderie to get you to say more than you really mean to. It`s part of their job.
But still, in this case, you have to take the conclusions the pundit draws about the koch`s direct involvement with a grain of salt, for reasons people have already stated here.

valid point. As a long time self-proclaimed enemy of the state, I agree. But it`s still subterfuge and I`m not a fan of that. Even if it`s used on a douche bag.

@mdg Mhh, interesting idea. Not sure how practical it would be, but interesting.

I think that my point was though, that if corporations paid the full 35% that they are supposed to, maybe we wouldn`t have to tale away good jobs with reasonable pay and great benefits. Maybe we would have the money. (In this economy wouldn`t that be a good thing?)

@Gerry1of1 Well we did learn that his goal is not only to weaken unions in Wisconsin but to help other republicans weaken their unions around the country. We also learned that he keeps a baseball bat in his office. Generally though I agree with you and I think they could have gotten him to say worse :-D

"Wiretapping usually is [illegal] to."

I don`t really have much sympathy for the government getting wiretapped. Sorry. They do it to us all the time!

Walker just put the lie to the claims that Koch is behind his policies. He obviously has never even spoken to Koch or he would have recognized that it wasn`t his voice. Also, he said nothing on the call that he hasn`t said publicly.

This "prank" was a lying libtard FAIL!

If it were up to me, I`d get rid of all personal/business income tax and replace it with a high sales tax. Sure, that system could be abused too, but our current set-up sucks hard.

But my point still stands - there is no money and government cuts need to be made everywhere.

Why not? It`s his own fault for being so stupid. Besides that, people have a right to know what`s going on and who their representatives are working with and why. [/quote]
We learned nothing new here.
He wants to weaken the political clout of the teachers union.
He`s been honest about that the whole time.

And impersonating someone is usually illegal.
Wiretapping usually is to.

Ends justify the means?... I don`t think so.

@MDG Ugggh! I absolutely loathe when people say that corporate taxes are already high enough. Well yes they would be, if most companies actually paid the 35% and didn`t use tax loopholes or get subsides!

I think he read a bit too much into the baseball bat remark. It was clearly just a joke.

I don`t know much about the rest of this situation though.

@snapsforme
Sure, like he really just wants to lay teachers off for the hell of it. There just isn`t any money. Who is supposed to pay for all of it?

Don`t give me the tired "it`s because of tax breaks to big business" line. In Wisconsin, "big" businesses pay 35% federal and 7.9% state income taxes. The government is already taking too much of everyone`s income. I don`t think it`s unreasonable to ask them to make due with what`s available.

MSNBC - the Fox News of Libretards.

If a journalist tricks someone into talking by impersonating someon NOT in journalism then they should not be allowed to release the tape.

The state is broke and has to do layoffs. . . . So?

"We won`t budge"... but the Democrats left the state and are refusing to budge, too...

Democrats are "defending democracy" by refusing to participate in democratic procedings...idiots.

I just WISH they could break the teachers union here in California. They`re one of the reasons we`re bankrupt.
