Here`s what I don`t understand. If Barr was so smart, and "infiltrated" Anon, what the hell did he think would happen? Anon is famous for doing exactly what they did to Barr.

So, a total illiterate thinks he`s smarter than the rest of us? Duuuuuh.

@tatervent-
Crosscheck it. This story is all over the net right now. Yes, the internet is an echo chamber for lies, but somehow I don`t think this story could get plastered all over every tech blog without SOMEONE legitimately refuting its truth. I`ve looked. Not one story has pointed to this being a hoax. If it were, don`t you think that HB Gary would be in damage control mode right now, sending out press releases refuting this story?
Who cares, anonymous is just a bunch of stupid trolls out to cause chaos.
If they were stupid, you`d think they`d have been caught by now.

This is a pretty awesome story- whether you like what Anonymous is about, don`t, or are indifferent. It`s just a damn good story. Like some kind of 80`s flick where the douchebag jock tries to take down a bunch of nerds, but the nerds fight back and win. Except the douchebag jock is also a nerd.

The Wikipedia entry on him is pretty funny right now, until someone tries to restore it to Wikipedia standards.

I was just reading the IRC transcript of the HBGary CEO talking to various anons, in which the CEO keeps appealing to the impact these actions have on the public image of Anonymous.

They really don`t understand it, do they.

Anon does not require a leader since it is a social collective. And since the words `social` and `collective` are not in the lexicon of the "free market" ideologues (those of neo- liberal/conservative economic and social engineering thinking<which most of them DON`T do>)

I don`t agree with everything that anon does, but that is the nature of a collective. It is part and parcel of a social democracy, which what the imperial police state hates.

@chimmeychang-...and it doesn`t. It`s a mob. It`s about as far as you can get from having a leader.

This is a soapbox diatribe by a person(s) that has a strong belief females are lesser than their male counter parts. That`s what I got out of it... and I read all of it... as boring as it was.

I used to root for these guys because of their feud with Scientology.

After reading this article, I think they`re no better than the latter.

What a moron.

I thought by now it was common sense not to mess with Anonymous.

I don`t agree with a lot of what Anonymous does (some of it I do), but at the same time actively trying to bring them down, so to speak, is like trying to put out a house fire with a water pistol.

@patchouly: indeed, there is no such thing as "hack proof" but there is a "near hack proof".
and anonymous really don`t have a leader

Anonymous is anyone who happens to find their way to a certain mIRC channel or website, there is no leader, there is no infrastructure. Granted some people are more capable with computers and frequent the site more often than others...

Two things. There is always a leader. And, as long as there are anti-hacking/pirating techniques, there will be someone to circumnavigate them. There is no such thing as "hack proof".

Wow, this guy is the definition of a newfag. He not only misses the point of Anonymous, but does so with less maturity than the underageb& on /b/ and tries to wield some legal power where it has little to no jurisdiction.
