This robber is so polite. I would have given him my wallet, too.

Wow, it`s like the guy that hangs out in parking lots begging for gas money took the next step. Those dudes will come up to me twice in the same week with the same story about how they`re on their way to see their dying grandmother in Galveston, but they ran out of gas and money, and so they only need a little more to get there.

If you didn`t get it legally to begin with you can`t sell it legally.

Probably should`ve worn a mask of some sort.

As for the whole `I have to feed my kids` line, I call BS. You could make much more money much easier by selling drugs.

this is how a robbery should go. I mean you have a GUN! there is no need to be loud and aggressive about things, that is why you brought the GUN!.

Yes we do. Not all of us are idiots with our guns.

And I *love* that at the end the store-owner was like "I`m sorry".

If he is so clever then why did he leave a set of left hand fingerprints on the counter? He should be easy to catch if he is in the system.

The reason so many robberies are so violent is because they are often committed by desperate people in desperate situations. Of course sometimes it is nothing but someone trying to make a name for themselves as being a bad-ass criminal on the loose, or a druggie who can`t think of a better way to score easy money than to steal it.
because you are, human?
If it was human to like people who threaten to kill strangers purely to steal money off them, humanity would probably be extinct by now. Most people are better than that.

Coulda sold that gun for some money. Probably more than was in the register.

Call me cynical, but I think the old guy knew the polite angle would get him further than acting gangsta. Theifs are clever, they know how to con people.

Honestly if a situation has come to then then it`s a shame the state isn`t helping the guy out. Robbing however is a crime, and the circumstances that make a robbery happen should not be viewed as extenuating. He should not be robbing a store, he should be somewhere that will give him the help he needs.

IMO he`s lying. But he`s keeping the whole situation calm with his tone of voice and his sob story which is kinda respectable, even if he`s a sh*thead for putting lives in danger and taking the easy way out.
Calm respectful tone, simple and easy to meet demands, and hopefully no one who doesn`t need to know will even notice what`s happened before you leave. Now, for the price of that gun, if it`s real, he could have bought a crowbar and an angle grinder, and, with a little brains and a lot of guts, gotten at least twice as much money out of someplace different.

"Why are people feeling sorry for him? Am I the only one who would feel no guilt at all for shooting this guy? I don`t care how `sorry` you say you are for doing it nor how polite, you point a weapon at someone and you don`t deserve to be treated like a human but a rabid animal that needs to be put down. =/"

you are from Europe therefore your argument is invalid...

"It`s like resisting a mugging. It doesn`t matter if you`re the invincible child of Chuck Norris and Neo, if a guy says he needs money and is robbing you, the guy needs the money a lot more than you do."

That`s the dumbest thing I`ve read online in a while. You`ll be the guy grabbing your ankles holding a sign that says "Check back here!" when Uncle Sam wants to start stepping on toes a little more.

@ MrHyde

I understood what you were saying, and truly agreed up until you said "if a guy says he needs money and is robbing you, the guy needs the money a lot more than you do."

That`s just ridiculous. That means anyone could go around mugging anyone, because they "need" the money, and you`re saying it would be OK. Either way, a robbery is a robbery. A crime is a crime. Morality is morality, no matter how nice or how in need one is. A robber promising to bring back money he just stole is an empty promise if I ever saw one.

If one is in such need of cash, they should be wise and cut the non-necessities. File unemployment or something. Theft and crime will get you only so far before you drop to a position lower than you were.

He`s gonna get caught if he hasn`t already, and lose even more. At this point, the only thing I see for him is the internet vigilantes donating money to him or something, because he`s "super cool for being

It bothers me that the cashier was concerned with the money in the register. Even if he knew the guy wasn`t going to shoot him, why risk it?

You can get the money back. (The guy even said he is going to bring the money back) It`s not worth the risk.

It`s like resisting a mugging. It doesn`t matter if you`re the invincible child of Chuck Norris and Neo, if a guy says he needs money and is robbing you, the guy needs the money a lot more than you do.
